Dangerous A Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Raw pulled a 4.1 rating. Credit- PWTorch message board & PWInsider I figured they'd get a good rating because the MNF game sucked before it started and got worse when they started playing, but even I was surprised at this.
Cheech Tremendous Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Everyone stops to look at a train wreck... doesn't mean they liked what they saw.
razazteca Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Exhibit A: Foley + moonpies + soda = Ratings Rulz!
RavishingRickRudo Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Raws ratings has more swings than a baseball game.
chaosrage Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I'm not surprised. Like I said on the RAW thread, this RAW was one of the few RAWs in years that I found to be entertaining from start to end. It almost felt like a 97-99 show.
hyperchord24 Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Well, so much for wrestling matches. More "comedy" and yes, McMahonamania is returning. Ugh.
RavishingRickRudo Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I would place more importance on "Who would be the next GM" than "the trial of Eric Bischoff" and the subsequent "comedy". Last week they announced that this week Bischoff would be fired, people tuned into see what would happen. They'll probably tune in next week to see who the GM is and if the GM isn't anything special, they won't tune in much after that.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Fuck all your theories. You know the Boogeyman is the reason for this rating.
geniusMoment Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Candice Michelle=gives me an erection. My erection=ratings. Obvisiously, I was very horny from 98-2001.
razazteca Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Fuck all your theories. You know the Boogeyman is the reason for this rating. His legal name is Flava Flav
Boon Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 You're all wrong. Hot, smart Maria = ratings.
justcoz Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 It was an entertaining show, felt exactly like a USA Raw Is War from 98 or 99. I knew this would get a decent rating.
Guest God Junior Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 (edited) The rating might matter more if the show was actually built around wrestlers, rather than non-worker drama. As it stands, while the show may have been fun, most of the segments aren't going to build to anything that could sell PPVs. Seeing as WWE don't make any money from their TV shows any more aside from the live gate, this rating is pretty irrelevant. Of course, I guess they could now start to use the talking and comedy to actually get wrestlers over, but that would require the booking team to actually display some sense. Hell, what do I care? I never buy WWE PPVs anyway and RAW was very entertaining. Edited December 7, 2005 by God Junior
strummer Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 This rating will further reinforce to Vince that fans don't care about wrestling and that his "vision" is correct
The Czech Republic Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I just wanna say that I liked Maria before it was cool to like Maria.
nl5xsk1 Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 It was an entertaining show, felt exactly like a USA Raw Is War from 98 or 99. I knew this would get a decent rating. That's not really how it works. A kick-ass episode wouldn't cause an immediate bump in the ratings (unless people are calling their friends and saying, "hey, you have to watch Raw, it's awesome tonight"). A kick-ass episode sparks ratings to rise in the following weeks. People were tuning in because of the "will Bisch be fired, and who will replace him?" curiousity. Having said that, though, people must have been entertained to keep the rating at the 'high' number that it was. If the show sucked ass, people would have turned away.
JoeDirt Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Shows like this will always get a bigger rating then just straight up wrestling shows. I don't know about the people watching this that don't usually watch buying any PPVs, though.
SuperJerk Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Everyone stops to look at a train wreck... doesn't mean they liked what they saw.
Caliban Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 This is Raw's highest December rating since 2001. http://www.100megsfree4.com/wiawrestling/p.../wwf/wwfraw.htm Why? Because they took an idea established last week - Will Bischoff Be Fired - and turned it into a story all the way through the show, which actually had a beginning, middle and end. WWE hasn't done a good, building story like that around a show since Austin/McMahon. And yes, now that they've found a nice formula, they need to get more wrestlers doing it. HHH and Show would be the most likely...
geniusMoment Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I wonder what kind of rating raw would do if they had an entire episode without any matches? It would be worth it just to hear all of the emotionally attached wrestling fans complain.
Caliban Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 (edited) "Fast Times At Titan Towers" A weekly hour-long show in which Vince gradually loses his marbles and he and various WWE wrestlers and staffers do... comedy. I pretty much think Vince slowly becoming a senile old man on WWE TV would be gold. Especially if Vince is just acting. Edited December 7, 2005 by Caliban
Caliban Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 And WWE's best ratings were in 2000, when it was at it's height for comedic storylines+characters, and the wrestling was at it's best too.
UZI Suicide Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I'm not surprised, this really reminded me of an attitude era show. Right down to the dumping Bischoff in the trash truck at the end and driving off, very reminicent of Austin with the beer truck/Angle with the milk truck. Although it wasn't as good as an attitude era show, it gave you that feeling and I think that's why most people stuck with it.
SamoaRowe Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Then how come every single Raw in October wasn't getting 4.5s? Everyone stops to look at a train wreck... doesn't mean they liked what they saw.
2GOLD Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I just wanna say that I liked Maria before it was cool to like Maria. I cursed out Diva search when they eliminated her and thought she was a damn fine bikini model before that.
Team Angle Pusher Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I liked the show. I enjoyed the court segments. They were funny. RAW had a well build-up story and it kept the fans entertained. Mixed with some nice wrestling and progressing of storylines and you have yourself a good show. Gotta love Tajiri and smart Maria. "I hope you get FFFIRED!". Next week they need to build the show up with "who will be in the Elimination Chamber match" and "who's the next RAW GM?"
benoit4hor Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Sheltons mama should be the new GM.

On a side note, who kicks out of a pedigree? People kick out of angle slams all the time, same with swin chin music, etc., but not a pedigree. Why?
Dangerous A Posted December 7, 2005 Author Report Posted December 7, 2005 It's called protecting your finisher. Only son in laws get to do it though.
