Requesting help with an essay

I'm writing an essay for English class, with the working thesis that the WWE's expectations of its performers oftentimes physically harm them. What I'm looking for are examples or quotable sources (like interview/article urls) about the following:

Wrestlers adding too much muscle mass to their frame (possibly adressing steroids)

"Working through injuries" to avoid losing one's spot (I think Eugene and the Somas fit here, and maybe Angle getting the alternative neck surgery? I would need sources though)

Hectic schedules

Overuse of dangerous spots (also, do you think I could argue that this stemmed from too few moves in the main-event style?)

Any other ideas for points would help, and I could leave out a citation if you can't remember anything for a good point. Also, I believe there are lots of interviews where wrestlers talk about injuries, like Kurt Angle's being deaf, etc.

I'm doing my own work as well, but I'm in a pinch for time. The paper needs to be 2-3 pages long, which isn't too much, but anything helps, as it's the last paper of the semester.

Thanks

there's that Dusty Rhodes line about Eddie's death that's in someone's sig, and in fact, what Eddie's wife said about how Eddie was feeling just before he died, look through the death thread for that stuff

I haven't done any essays or any written product on the WWE or wrestling for that matter but I've used promos for theater, speech, and comm classes.

My advice on your essay, dont look like, a mark.

Hey, chill out man, I already "shat it out" in about 30 minutes, but I was lacking quotes and it's due tomorrow morning, so I figured I'd save myself time by asking people who could give me ideas easily.

In 7th grade, I had to give a speech about what I wanted to do for a career when I grew up, and why, and I picked wrestling and made this huge poster with all my favorite wrestlers. Thankfully this was '97 and wrestling was still cool, I definitely would not do a wrestling-related assignment now.

I did the same thing for my Eng 101 class first semester of college..... Sadly I never made it to the second semester.

You should blatantly substitute incorrect things in and then read it aloud and see if *anyone* picks up on it.

Go on about how how Hulk Hogan, after finally being the man to slam Jeff Jarrett at WrestleMania 3, had to go to WCW because he killed the first Ultimate Warrior and he needed a place to lay low during his marriage to Miss Elizabeth because The Big Boss Man was trying to arrest him. It wasn't, what they called, a "storyline", it was REAL.

Seriously, except for the murder part, no one'd even know what "WrestleMania" was, anymore. It's sad. Back in the 80's, we had good Saturday cartoons. Back in the 90's we had mainstream wrestling accepted in high school w/ a million nWo, Hogan, DX, Rock, and Austin shirts. Now, we have neither. So don't get discouraged if your teacher and the other students roll their eyes or seem to find your topic silly. That's their own stupidity.

Good luck, but yeah, a 2-3 pager. Shouldn't be that difficult.

About 5 years ago in elementary school, I did a presentation about how I'd start a wrestling federation if I had $1,000,000. I slacked the shit out of it, though, and basically just brought No Mercy and my N64 to school. As you can see, I was probably the coolest child ever.

And that last post was pretty accurate. When I first mentioned my topic, every single person in my class laughed.

Use the back of Mick Foley's first autobiography, Have A Nice Day. It lists every injury he had from the start of his career until the book was written by him in mid-99.

Hadn't even thought about that, but I believe my cousin borrowed it a while ago and still has it.

Anyway, thanks a lot, turned it in earlier today. I changed the topic a little though, so it goes something like this:

orlando bloom is so hot. i saw him in this one movie

and i was like ummm ok he is so cute right now. in

lord of the rings he is a elf but he is hot even as a elf

also. then my mom took me to get some temporary

tattoos. the end

As you can see I had to make the margins pretty big to make it 2 pages long. I hope my teacher doesn't notice.

I did a Problem/Solution essay on (then) WWF when I was at Community College. Got an A.

But then again, I got an A on every paper because CC is full of idiots.

Flunked out of said CC.

But pitcher were 10 bucks at campus bar and I've got a job in the journalism industry now anyway.

I wrote a paper on wrestling in my freshmen year and got a B on it, with comments that it was well written, but the teacher did not like some of my sources (wrestling interviews, etc).

Then last year I had to do a powerpoint on any subject, just to show that I knew how to use power point. I did it on a short history of the WWE and I got a perfect score on it, though the professor ribbed me on it later.

I actually wrote a paper my senior year of high school about how wrestling was as real as any of the unscripted sports because of the injuries and the athleticism involved.

Got an A on it, mostly for going through my videotapes and finding the most violent examples I could to prove my point about the injuries.

I wrote my senior thesis in high school on wrestling, then when no one took me to the prom I sat home alone and cried while I masturbated. I got an A on the paper though, and my teacher called me a "homo-dork" for writing serious papers on professional wrestling.

You should do a paper on personal accountability and Vince McMahon never having a gun to anyone's head. :)
