Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 It's like I said in the RAW thread. WWE is trying to cater to the elusive homosexual wrestling fan demographic. Congratulations, OVW talents who I've never seen before...the entire WWE fanbase now thinks you're a bunch of faggots.

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 They could. Jeter, for one, is a great babyface. Not that you'll ever get to see that on Raw.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Meh. They'll hang around, provide some entertainment, and then eventually split up and everything about the gimmick will be forgotten a couple months later. Big fucking deal. What are they trying to accomplish? It's a silly low-card gimmick designed to get these guys accustomed to working in front of big crowds without randomly throwing them out there like they did with a guy like Garrison Cade. Deacon Batista was stupid but it didn't kill his career. And if they get lucky, maybe they'll get over. If not, meh, the gimmick dies and the five guys go out on their own. Do I think the gimmick is great? No, but I don't feel the need to bitch and moan about it either.
RepoMan 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 I knew the smark community would have this reaction to the Spirit Squad. And there is some legitimacy to the argument that these young talents are being wasted. However, I marked out like a bitch when they came out last night. I just loved it. I complettly agree, but I must note I had 4 shots, 1 beer, and smoked 1 G at the time. I've been to a lot of college and high school sporting events and I thought they had their gimmick down to the teeth. They obviously put a lot of effort into it, too bad the gimick is going to ruin their young carears.
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Jeter, for one, is a great babyface. I like Jeter better as a heel. He reminded me of heel Jericho, the past month in OVW.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 The only thing I can hope for is that they never mention any of them by name, this is the type of gimmick that can kill a career.
Alro 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Jeter, for one, is a great babyface. I like Jeter better as a heel. He reminded me of heel Jericho, the past month in OVW. I've only seen Jeter as a heel and I thought he was fantastic. From what I've seen of Doane, which has only been his feud with Brent Albright and CM Punk, he's the most wasted talent of them all. I've said this before, but his character in OVW was a better Randy Orton than Randy Orton could ever pull off.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Agree, Mondo is a guy I'm shocked they ever called up so he's probably just glad to do ANY of this silly shit. Nick Mitchell? Who? And Nick Nemeth was a bum on OVW and is no waste (hell the guy was Chavo's caddy). Putting Doane and Jeter with these jobbers is a horrible idea. It's stupid since simply bringing Doane and Jeter up with their OVW personas would actually work well! Doane: Arrogant punk with a heel stable backing him, thinks he's better than his years suggest he is. Jeter: Total heel dirtbag who turns on his tag partner and generally runs amuck in the fed. How hard is this stuff? The Spirit Squad might be a silly and amusing gimmick for some talentless jobber wrestlers. It's the sort of thing Heyman could have gotten over in ECW using Chad Austin and some other bums, but nobody he was serious about pushing.
Guest GoJoe Report post Posted January 25, 2006 You know, if they would have used just one guy and then had a few girl cheerleaders then this could have worked. You have the male wrestling with the girls cheering and interacting with fans on the outside. And if they are going to rip off Bring It On, they can rip off the straight male cheerleader, who takes advantage of the situation and stretches and fingers Eliza Dushku when she falls. Who wouldn't boo that lucky bastard?

claydude14 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2006 This many young guys in a stable would be better suited as a fraternity gimmick. Have them be cocky annoying assholes, funneling beer backstage before matches, using cheesy lines on the divas and paddling people. The group could start with three and then the other two could come in as pledges or something. I think this would get over much more, and they could naturally grow out of the gimmick of frat guy. Annoying male cheerleader might be a little harder to erase.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2006 Or steal from Arrested Development and have them be a group of male strippers who get called upon when someone needs fake cops.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2006 Zack Gowan could be the guy to call when a lesson needs to be learned. *Zack Gowan does a highspot, botches it, and his leg comes off* Vince: You see flippy floppy moves don't work in WWE. Momma Benjamin: OH MY GOODNESS, would you just look at that, the poor boy broke his leg! I don't want you to do anymore of those leaping top rope moves son. Shelton: Yes momma
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2006 What they should do with the gimmick is have them come out during boring matches and do the cheers and stuff to try and hype up the crowd. Hell that's pretty much what they were doing Monday. Then after a few weeks of this during one cheer Bischoff comes out and says that their little cheering has gone 3 minutes to long and then 3MW comes in and beats the shit out of them. jester 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2006 I seriously think that Vince McMahon is a homophobic bisexual. Vince McMahon should get a homosexual puppet name Mr. Hat to express his supressed homosexual urges through. That would rule all. McMahon: Tonight...in this very ring...you will face...KAAAANNNE! Isn't that right, Mr. Hat? Mr. Hat: He sure will Mr. McMahon!

Annoying male cheerleader might be a little harder to erase. So a little bit of the Mean Street Posse, and a lot of those annoying guys who drink too much and run around football games shirtless. I could see that working. Pick on some of the smaller guys (very few cruiser sized guys on RAW unfortunately), "accidentally" walk in on the Divas while they're in the showers, and a lot of backstage beat downs. I also like Rando's idea, but there's no way the writers would put that much effort into developing them.
