Favourite Weird Al song and video

Recommended Posts

Smells Like Nirvana was probably his greatest parody/video.

And yeah, the Japan line in Eat It always gets a laugh out of me too.

I need to find copies of all the Al Music episodes he did on MTV and Much back in the day. Managed to find one when he was promoting Bad Hair Day when I was digging through old tapes about a year ago. Good times.

If we're going by videos here, I'd go with Smells Like Nirvana or Amish Paradise.

For just songs I really like "The Saga Continues" and the two above plus any Polka Your Eyes Out.

he did a song that's on the same album as the Nirvana goof where he does a medley of songs that were popular at that time and does it all in Polka...it's great!

EDIT: which was Polka Your Eyes Out, as Dubs already covered...

Forgot about this one.

Unbelievably awesome. It's all about the pentiums

http://youtube.com/watch?v=nEi0eQB-NtY&sea...l%20about%20the

My buddies and I became fairly tight with an indy wrestler. His name was The Hacker, a computer geek gimmick. Pentiums was his theme. So, that gets my nod.

I'd forgotten how good Weird Al could be, actually. I pretty well overdid it when I owned Bad Hair Day, but upon hearing Alapalooza again after a few years, good stuff.

"Smells Like Nirvana" is his most bang-on parody, I think.

Because I'm a nerd, here are the lyrics.

What is this song all about?

Can't figure any lyrics out

How do the words to it go?

I wish you'd tell me I don't know

Now I'm mumbling, and I'm screaming!

And I don't know, what I'm singing

Crank the volume, ears are bleeding

I still don't know, what I'm signing

We're so loud and incoherent

Boy this outta bug your parents

It's unintelligible

I just can't get it through my skull

It's hard to bargle nawdle zouss

With all these marbles in my mouth

Well we don't sound like Madonna

Here we are now; we're Nirvana!

Sing distictintly? We don't wanna

Buy our album - we're Nirvana!

A garage band from Seattle

Well it sure beats raising cattle

And I forgot the next verse

Oh well, I guess it pays to rehearse

The lyric sheets, so hard to find

What are the words? Oh nevermind

Well I'm yelling and we're playing

And I don't know what I'm saying

What's the message I'm conveying?

Can you tell me what I'm saying?

So if you've got some idea

Didn't think so; well, I'll see ya!

Good stuff. You know, off the top of my head, I can't even think of any other parodies he did that were making fun of the song itself, and not just using the song to make fun of something else.

Song: Your Horoscope For Today. I'm particularly fond of the lyric "You will never find true happiness/Whatcha gonna do, cry about it?"

Video: Smells Like Nirvana. I always lose it at the part where he starts gargling.

He does that on every album.

It never had a music video to my knowledge but the song "Trigger Happy" was great as well as the song "The White Stuff". The songs were on the same album as the Smells like Teen Spirit song.

First time that I tried it

Got a big sugar buzz

Nothing gets me high as that sandwich cookie does

But I love the filling most

I rub it on my roast

Mix it in with my coffee and spread it on my toast

Dammit, that's gonna be stuck in my head all night.

Shit, I just remembered one of my favourite Weird Al songs..."When I Was Your Age"

There were seventy-three of us, living in a cardboard box

All I got for Christmas was a lousy bag of rocks

Ever night for dinner, we had a big ol' chunk of dirt

If we were really good, we didn't get dessert

Good times. Shit, what was that other one..."The Good Old Days"

Do you remember good ol' Mr. Fender

Who ran the corner grocery store?

Well he'd stroll down the aisle with a big friendly smile

And he'd say howdy when you walked in the door

Always treated me nice, gave me kindly advice

I don't know why I set fire to his place

Oh, I'll never forget the day I bashed in his head

You shoulda seen the look on his face

Yes, I spent a sad amount of my life listening to Weird Al. Shut up.

Now that I think about tit, "Whu Does This Always Happen To Me?" is great too

was watching my TV one night when they broke in with a special report

About some devistating earthquake in Peru

There were thirty thousand crushed to death, even more were buried alive

On the Richter scale it measured 8.2

And I said, "God, please answer me one question?"

"Why'd they have to interrupt 'The Simpsons' just for this?"

What a drag, 'cause I was taping it and everything

And now I'll have to wait for the rerun to see the part of the show I missed

Why does this always happen?

Why does this always happen to me?

Why does this always happen?

(Why) Why does this always happen to me?

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba

I was driving down the highway when all the traffic slowed to a crawl

There was a twelve-car pile-up, everybody dead

And I saw brains and guts and vital organs splattered everywhere

As well as my friend Robert's disembodied head

And I thought - Poor Rob, I just had lunch with him

Hey, wait a minute, he still owes me money - what a jerk

Well, there's five bucks that I'm never gonna see again

Plus now, on top of everything else, it looks like I'm gonna be late to work

Why does this always happen?

Why does this always happen to me?

Why does this always happen?

(Why) Why does this always happen to me?

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba

Oh, the other day, my boss said we were running low on toner

And he told me I should buy another case

Well, I told him I was busy, but he still just kept on asking

So, I turned around and stabbed him in the face (right in the face)

Oh, and wouldn't you know it, my knife got stuck

I guess that's probably bound to happen now and then

But I'm afraid I may have bent the tip a little

And I know that blade will never ever be quite as sharp again (quite as sharp again)

Oh, tell me

Why does this always happen?

Why does this always happen to me?

Why does this always happen?

Why does this always happen to me?

Why does this always happen to me?

(Why does this always happen to me?)

Why does this always happen to me?

(Why does this always happen to me?)

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba

Ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba

One More Minute was always a favorite of mine.

"I'd rather clean all the bathrooms in Grand Central Station with my tongue... than spend... one more minute... with you."

Oof... I own way too much Weird Al stuff...

I will go favorites by the albums I own...

In 3-D: Nature Trail To Hell (In 3-D) or The Theme From Rocky XIII

Off The Deep End: Airline Amy or Trigger Happy

Alapalooza: Jurassic Park or Frank's 2000" TV

Bad Hair Day: Amish Paradise, Everything You Know Is Wrong, I Remember Larry, or The Night Santa Went Crazy

Running With Scissors: The Saga Begins, Your Horoscope For Today, or Albuquerque

I also own "Al In A Box" which is his 4 disc box set. It has alot of stuff I don't have from his other albums, including "Headline News". Overall I think I own 100 or so total songs, and I had Poodle Hat downloaded but lost it in a hard drive crash.

I can listen to most of the albums all the way through and sing along (even though it's been YEARS since I've actually done that) but apparently Bad Hair Day is my favorite.

Yeah I've got his last....4 CDs and the "Al In a Box" set. A lot of Al. I actually like his own creations more than his parodies. Christmas at Ground Zero and Spend One More Minute especially. However, I will give special note to The Saga Begins, since it's based on my favorite song ever.

As for videos, I'll go with All About the Pentiums. Drew Carrey = winner.

Good work on the lyrics lovecraft, but don't forget the Ben Folds piano solo before the 3rd verse.

video: Amish Paradise, if for no other reason, than the part where he's lip syncing backwards. Now THAT takes talent

song: I dunno, Hororscope's up there but not my #1 favorite

Songs: I've always been a huge fan of The Night Santa Went Crazy. Alburquerque is a close second however.

Video: I'm going to go with Amish Paradise or Fat. Fat, mostly for the beginning. Ding dong, baby! Ding dong!
