CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 Of all-time? Bass-O-Matic and Chris Farley Chippendale seem to win the discussions I have most often. My two are lesser known: Dysfunctional Family Feud from Farley-Sandler Era, followed by Ferrell Era, in which Mike Myers hosted "Questions from British Parliament". Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 Of all-time? Bass-O-Matic and Chris Farley Chippendale seem to win the discussions I have most often. My two are lesser known: Dysfunctional Famil Feud from Farley-Sandler Era, followed by Ferrell Era, in which Mike Myers hosted "Questions from British Parliament". That Family Feud w/Christian Slater was hilarious. "Name something, besides clothes, that you find in the closet" "Spare Bibles?" "A gun. A loaded gun" "Yeah you don't have the guts!" "My father?" But just for sheer laughs, the Chippendales with Farley and Swayze, and the original Matt Foley. Watching Spade and Applegate try desperately to hold it together while Farley tries his best to get them to break character was almost as funny as the skit itself. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 You're down there for a reason! I'd forgotten all about the original Matt Foley, which kinda got overdone. Good one.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 I remember a thread like this was somewhat done before, and I posted the transcripts of a lot of the skits. Guest NYankees Report post Posted September 22, 2006 Celebrity Jeopardy with Norm making his return as Burt Reynolds...I almost couldn't breathe It's funny how one of the worst comedians in history on one of the worst tv shows ever has you choking to death. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 Thanks troll. Another skit that I love is the Wayne's World with Aerosmith. The bit where the band talks about the fall of communism is classic.
Aero 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 I always liked the skit where Chris Parnell is filming the TV movie about the life of Jesus for NBC to beat CBS's, which is coming out in 3 weeks. Ferrell is Jesus, and Cuba Gooding Jr. is Paul the Disciple, and they're just improvising everything. Jesus: "So Paul... I hear you're good at... discipling..." Barry: "So what Jesus... you talkin smack about me?" It was actually on this past Saturday on NBC's classic episode.

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 I've missed all of the classics of any 'era'. I have been downloading as many eps as I could recently, any of those great episodes of Ferrell. Any recommendations? Aside from the 'Best Of' series... I've a few faveorites, but have that just-awakened-can't-think syndrome... "Lifeguard". Jim Carrey as an over-enthused lifeguard, and Ferrell as the straight/confused guy -- comedy gold. any Celebrity Jeopardy skit. There are others, I just need to wait for my brain to wake up. the max 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 Irwin Mainway. Dan Akroyd as a sleazy toy-maker who makes completely unsafe toys for kids and then tries to make them out as being completely normal. "Look, we put a label on every bag that says, “Kid! Be careful – broken glass!” I mean, we sell a lot of products in the “Bag O’” line.. like Bag O’ Glass, Bag O’ Nails, Bag O’ Bugs, Bag O’ Vipers, Bag O’ Sulfuric Acid. They’re decent toys, you know what I mean?"
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 I liked the one where he had the Halloween costumes better: http://snltranscripts.jt.org/77/77dconsumerprobe.phtml Joan Face: Alright, Mr. Mainway, if you don't think that was unsafe, how about this Halloween costume, which you market under the label "Invisible Pedestrian"? ( holds up the costume ) It's an all black suit, gloves and mask. Now, it seems to me, Mr. Mainway, a child wearing this costume at night to go trick-or-treating is in grave danger of being hit by a car! Irwin Mainway: Car? What do you mean "car", Miss Face? I mean, a car is a pretty big object, right? I mean, kids are smart today, you know? They know when a car is coming at 'em to jump out of the way. I mean, most of the kids I know go trick-or-treating at houses, right? You don't see too many kids walking along the expressway knocking on windshields looking for treats. This is a "sidewalk" costume! Joan Face: A "sidewalk" costume? Irwin Mainway: Yeah! I mean, you know, we don't recommend this for blind kids. See, there's a warning right on the label - "Invisible Pedestrian, Not For Blind Kids." ( turns packaging around to show this warning in big bold letters ) Huh? ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 I always loved Behind the Music: Blue Oyster Cult. I know it's 'overexposed' these days, but I probably would have picked that as my favorite SNL skit even before "Needs more cowbell" became a pop culture phenomenon. My other favorite one is this sketch where they're doing a comercial for some artificial coffee crystal. The guy goes up to people in a restaurant and tells them that they're not drinking real coffee, but when he tells this to Chris Farley, he just snaps and starts killing everyone in the restauant. I almost died laughing when I saw that one the first time. Lazy Sunday gets 'best sketch in recent memory' from me.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 A couple classic skits I liked were this fake commercial where Dan Akroyd is narrating a car commercial where the car advertised's ride is so smooth, that you can circumsize a baby in the back seat. Then it proceeds to show the car making sharp turns and a rabbi trying to perform the cirumsision in the back seat. I also love Fred Garvin: Male Prostitute. Dan Akroyd has to be one of the most underrated SNL castmembers ever. He's a real comic's comic. It's too bad he hasn't done anything really funny in the last twenty or so years. Some of my personal favorites are the Bush/Dukakis debate between Carvey and Lovitz, Carter/Ford: "I was told there'd be no math", the Madeline Kahn epsiode with Akroyd as Nixon, the one where Hartman played as Reagan the Evil Mastermind, and pretty much anything with Hammond's Clinton (that never got old for me).
