If Monson wins the UFC should have Griffin step up and be their first TUF champion.

Oh God, that HW division is so sad. The thing is, contrary to popular belief, PRIDE's isn't much better. They have four. Four amazing guys, but only four.

I hope Brandon Vera turns out to be the real deal, but I'm not convinced by his wrestling.

"I was not impressed by your performance." After the biggest match in MMA history, the belt comes to Tristar Saturday November 18.

Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre

(No comment needed)

Tim Sylvia vs. Jeff Monson

(Sylvia gets his first successful title defense)

Frank Mir vs. Brandon Vera

(Vera gets a name win and likely a title shot)

Graison Tibau vs. Nick Diaz

(Diaz tries not to choke against solid competition)

Dokonjonosuke Mishima vs. Joe Stevenson

(Joe Silva gets wood, Mishima gets smashed)

James Irvin vs. Hector Ramirez

(Well... hopefully Ramirez is in shape, at least)

Josh Shockman vs. Jake O'Brien

(Pure build-up for the stud wrestler)

Antoni Hardonk vs. Brad Imes

(Imes either beats a decent HW or gets lost)

Wilson Gouveia vs. Alessio Sakara

(Sakara hopes for redemption while Gouveia attempts to protect his weak chin)

What do you mean no comment needed?

Also, your other comments seemed like cleverly disguised predictions.

You really think Vera loses to Mir?

It's a misprint isn't it?

Fuck that. I don't pussy around predictions unless the match-up is a real toss-up to me(Mir/PDP, Henderson/Belfort). Just a quick glance at each match-up. I'll do real predictions closer to the card.

Also, yes, it was a typo.

Who you got for GSP/Hughes, Lei Tong?

I'd much rather watch this card then Pac-Man/Morales fight, real talk.

By the way, if Sylvia beats Monson it would be his 2nd succesful title defense.

I think the personal favourite is for GSP to take it. However, I think that Hughes is still going to take is. His stand up is comparable, his wrestling is better. GSP has the submission advantage but I don't think it's so superior that Hughes can't deal with it. I figure Hughes in the 3rd as well.

Monson has zero chance. He's going to get picked apart. Silvia's got better striking and that insane height advantage. If Monson can take this to the ground by some miracle, it's his only (slim) chance of winning it.

Vera vs Mir is win/win for UFC IMO. Vera seems to be the golden boy and a win over the former champ would be a huge lift. Mir on the other hand is desperately trying to get himself together. If he can put a win together over a surging fighter, it'll be massive for his career.

GSP has the submission advantage?

Really?

Not that this means a damn thing as far as submission advantage goes but...

Hughes has earned 17 out of 40 victories by submission - 42.5%

GSP has earned 4 out of 12 victories by submission - 33.3%

Regardless, I think GSP wants to keep this thing standing as much as possible.

No but it'll be negated by Georges being shit-scared of Hughes' takedowns so much that I wouldn't be surprised to see him not throw a single kick in the fight.

Doubt it.

I expect and spinning back kick like the 1st fight. I don't think GSP will be scared of Hughes takedowns at all.

After seeing what Hughes did to Penn I sure as shit would be. And BJ's guard is better then GSP's.

And before the injury, Penn was controlling things very well.

I've just recently started watching MMA through UFC DVDs, and I'm curious to know if the general consensus is whether GSP can take Hughes' title or not.

I'll be rooting for GSP, but I'm not sure he can win if the fight goes to the ground.

I like GSP to win, but I'm Canadian, and thus biased. It should be one helluva fight.

And Zuffa could've done a better job of building GSP up on TV. Hughes has gotten more screen time on TUF4 than Georges.

I love GSP as a fighter, but according to this thread it seems a forgone conclusion that he's going to win. I know Matt's a dick, and fun to hate, but he's still a great fighter, he didn't get the title by accident

Definitely not, and he's been on one damn impressive roll. But I think most of us simply LIKE GSP better, so like any homer fan, we're biased towards him. The casual fan is probably rooting for Matt to win.

I think Matt Hughes is quite possibly the least likable big name in UFC history. I'd say that most people respect him, but very few root for him.
