milliondollarchamp 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/070426g.php Angles and Demons - What a f*ckin' joke. few weeks ago Cinema Blend broke the news here that Tom Hanks had been locked in for "The Da Vinci Code" prequel "Angels & Demons", a deal that included one of the biggest salaries in the history of Hollywood to do it. What could've been dismissed as Net rumour was picked up and confirmed by the trade papers a few days later. Now, the original source for the story has come back with a number - $35 million. Yep, that's right - not just $35 million upfront, easily nabbing the record for highest paid actor, but a big piece of the back end too. That means as much as 25% of domestic ticket sales - another $15 million should the film do as well as 'Da Vinci'. Agents for supermodel turned actress Gisele Bundchen are also apparently demanding modeling price style wages for her to star alongside Hanks in the film - an amount which could be worth something like $13 million. Finally, the source says that "Angels & Demons" could be one of the most expensive films ever made - with a budget in the high $200 million range. He's not worth a third that much. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Tom Hanks IS box office money. If anyone on the planet can justify a 50 million dollar tag, it is Tom Hanks. His last five movies: The Da Vinci Code: 758 million gross/ 125 million budget The Polar Express: 300 million/ 150 million The Terminal: 218 million/ 60 million The Ladykillers: 76 million/ 35 million Catch me if you can: 351 million/ 52 million Tom Hanks is HUGE overseas and he does damn well in the states as well. He is more than guaranteed to double production budget by being in a film. You have to go back to 1990 when he was in "Bonfire" and "Joe vs" to even find a movie that bombed. That is one HELL of a win streak.

Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 80's Tom Hanks is fantastic. This new age sentimental Hanks I care less for but will still watch. All I'm waiting for is for him to get his mojo back and make Batchelor party 2.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I liked Catch Me If You Can, but his last really great movie was Road to Perdition.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 My favorite Hanks film was The Green Mile. I'm still shocked he wasn't nominated for anything for it too.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I liked Joe vs The Volcano... That movie is all kinds of great, too bad it was a box office flop. It could probably be considered a cult favorite though cause it found an audience later for all kinds of reasons.
Jonathon 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Angels and Demons is a vastly superior book to Da Vinci Code. If done right, with that budget, it should rock.
RonL21 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I like the Terminal actually....I think it was a filler movie though....like Tom Cruise did War of the Worlds because he wanted McG to direct Mission Impossible 3 but he wasnt available so he Got the scpript to War of the Worlds from Speilberg and took it to basically pass time and make an extra 30 million... geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Wasn't Tom Cruise paid more than that for the Mission Impossible series because he got such a large percentage of the gate?
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 How could anyone really argue against Hanks? He is the first most people would want to star in your movie. The crowds love him, he always gets respect from reviews and he can work well with many others. Hanks hasn't made a shitty movie in quite some time. Da Vinci Code was a shitty boook but it was packaged right as a movie. It was never intended to follow in line with Hanks usual dramatic act. He's worth the money. KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Hanks' character in The Terminal was a thousand different kinds of awesome, but it was the crappy "love" story with Catherine Zeta Jones that really dragged things down. The Ladykillers and Da Vinci were definitely stinkers, but this guy has an outstanding ratio of good:bad movies.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 "I'm gonna make a movie...The Last Nigga on Earth...starring Tom Hanks"
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I liked the Terminal. If he ended up with Zeta Jones, I would have hated it, but since he didn't (I guess that is a spoiler, but really...who the fuck cares) I loved the move. "It for goat."

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I find it odd that nobody's mentioned Forrest Gump yet in a Tom Hanks thread. Easily that was his best role, overexposed as it may be. Second best was in The Green Mile. Third best was on Bosom Buddies.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 For me, he'll always be Robbie "Pardue" Wheeling.
theintensifier 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 Tom Hanks is a great actor and has been a part of many good/great movies: Big Splash Philadephia Story Forrest Gump Sleepless in Seattle You've got Mail A league of their Own Saving Private Ryan Turner and Hooch Green Mile Ladykillers Cast Away Terminal Road to Perdition Toy Story I and II Apollo 13 And probably more, but I'm drawing a blank. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 It's Philadelphia. Not Philadelphia Story. Don't forget the stuff he's produced (Band of Brothers, Polar Express, Ant Bully, From Earth to the Moon) and he's also a good SNL host.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2007 I also really liked him in That Thing You Do. Good movie, that.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I think Philadelphia was his best performance. Could have been so easy to over play any aspect of that character but he did it all perfectly.
Insanity 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I also really liked him in That Thing You Do. Good movie, that. I wish he'd write/direct another movie. That film was the shit.

The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Ladykillers was underrated. Not my favorite Cohen Bros. film, but not awful. Yeah, I enjoyed. Good cast in a mediocre film.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 he was good in Catch Me If You Can: "I got a joke" "Oh yeah?" "Knock knock..." "Who's there?" "...Go fuck yourselves!" *chuckles to himself*
Atticus Chaos 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Giselle Bundchen sounds like terrible casting as Langdon's love interest. She was awful in Taxi, and I'm not sure how believable a 26 year old supermodel is with a 50 something actor (yeah, I know it's Hollywood but c'mon...).
