CanadianGuitarist Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Hey, Roy Halladay might have appendicitis. Why not? EDIT: He does. Out 4-6 weeks. I heard Jamie Campbell say this.....as Troy Glaus limped off the field. Though mine was far more colourful, we said in unison "Oh no. Don't tell me".
snuffbox Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Brewers lost the opener vs. the Mets 5-4. Both teams had 3 homeruns, Jenkins/Fielder/Hardy for Milwaukee.
treble Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 There goes the losing streak. I guess all it took was one more injury.
CanadianChris Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Well, the nightmare is over...at least for one night. Any word on Glaus?
devo Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Tee hee. http://www.wsoctv.com/mlb033/13222064/detail.html After watching Jorge Sosa give up two completely crushed home runs tonight, I'm somewhat concerned that he's going to slowly but surely regress into the batting practice throwing machine who gives up a homer every three innings or so. Still, overall, a very good start, and it's nice to see that the Mets probably won't have thirteen different starters this year. If Pelfrey's going to get his shit together, tonight's game would be a good time to start, since Sosa might very well be there to take his spot once Hernandez returns.
2GOLD Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 So has Willy Mo Pena always been that bad of a fielder? Great defense by the Orioles tonight helped them get the win. Not sure they'll get another in the series but that was a pretty impressive defensive performance and getting out of bases loaded jams.
Vern Gagne Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Another loss. Bullpen gives up 5 runs and kills any shot of coming back. Todd Coffey weighed 305 pounds in hs, and eats chicken and salad.
Guest Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 I picked and chose a perfect game to go to. I went tonight because I figured, hey, if I go when the Reds send Arroyo out to pitch, that's probably the game that the Dodgers will win. And I was right. Didn't want to go when they were sending out some bullshit, because the chances of the Reds winning would highly increase if I was there. Uneventful game, but a win is a win.

Failed Bridge Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 AL MVP: Alexander Rodriguez (in memorium of Leena's retirement) AL Cy Young: Josh Beckett has the wins but look at Tim Wakefield. His numbers are just plain silly right now. With more run support he has about 7 wins. I'm going Wakefield AL Manager: Nobody really stands out right now. AL Rookie: Hideki Ohkajima NL MVP: Bonds NL Cy Young: Jake Peavy NL Manager: Ned Yost NL Rookie: Josh Hamilton
Boon Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 So has Willy Mo Pena always been that bad of a fielder? Yes.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Brewers look to be on pace to tie the series against the Mets. They're leading 9-3 in the 9th inning, following a JJ Hardy grand slam. If I'm not mistaken, JJ Hardy now leads the NL in RBIs this season (and I think is tied in home runs).
CanadianChris Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Break up the Blue Jays. Two wins in a row now.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Brewers end up winning 12-3. JJ Hardy is on fire. Take that, New York.
strummer Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 JJ Hardy's eye popping counting stats are going to keep either Hanley Ramirez, Jimmy Rollins or Jose Reyes out of the All Star Game. Eickstein gets the fan vote of course
snuffbox Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 What a massacre. Hardy moved back ahead of Prince Fielder for rbi with that grand slam. Sheets had six solid innings as well and notched his 3rd win.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 "Oh, but they're just beating up on the crappy teams in their division."
snuffbox Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 I'd go back through & see where anybody called Milwaukee a 'killer' due to today's win but I would be wasting my time. Continue to make up bullshit if it's your thing, though.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 1 win in NY makes them a killer? No, but the fact that they're the first team in MLB to reach 25 wins this season does.
migoli Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 And i dont disagree with that but for the argument of they havent beat anyone 1 win doesnt take that point away But i am not bashing the Brewers just saying is all..... And with the killer comment ok sorry i used a senstive word for you, would you like me to word it different?
vivalaultra Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 I was actually going to buy one of the old-skool Brewers caps I found at the flea market today, but it was too small, and I don't think I'm ready to be a 'hat-traitor' yet. Still, I really like the Brewers' glove logo. So, the big comparison for the Brewers is the 2006 Tigers, but the Brewers are actually 2 games better than the Tigers were last year at this time. I wonder if that makes them 'legit'. I still hold out hope that my 'Stros will go on a tear and the Brewers will fall off the map, but if it doesn't happen, I'll be happy with the Brewers in the postseason. They've got a lot of good young guys and respectable veterans on the team. It's hard to dislike them. And, if the 'Stros don't win the division, I always follow the 'A.B.C.' rule of baseball-Anybody But the Cubs!
bob_barron Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Fun game to be at today- The Mets were horrible. How many games is that for Hardy now?
snuffbox Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 2 or 3. His hit streak ended at 19 during one of the Nationals games where Geoff Jenkins came up big. I was unaware that the Dodgers, one of the many teams we hold a series win over, was one of the NL Central bottomfeeders as well.
Annabelle Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 this years 2006 tigers is the 2007 tigers. everyone expected them to fall off. and i don't know if thats going to happen.
snuffbox Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 The Tigers should only get better as the season wears on & their health improves. The lack of injuries is another thing really helping Milwaukee thus far. Recently they've always run into injuries that brought about struggles (Sheets, Hardy, etc). So far the only injuries have been minor like the early-departures for Sheets/Suppan/Capuano (the bullpen saved the day each time) or the wrist injury that Corey Hart has battled through. With Hart we have seen that the offense is deeper than it has ever been in Milwaukee and his production hasn't been sorely missed.
snuffbox Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Here's a story from my childhood, Banky. I sent Sparky Anderson a letter asking him for an autograph & he sent me his 1959 rookie card signed. What a nice guy!
