summer, summer, summertime

time to sit back and unwind

Here it is the groove slightly transformed

just a bit of a break from the norm

just a little somethin' to break the monotony

of all that hardcore dance that has gotten to be

a little bit out of control it's cool to dance

but what about the groove that soothes that moves romance

give me a soft subtle mix

and if ain't broke then don't try to fix it

and think of the summers of the past

adjust the base and let the alpine blast

pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme

and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is summertime

summer, summer, summertime

time to sit back and unwind

school is out and it's a sort of a buzz

a back then I didn't really know what it was

but now I see what have of this

the way that people respond to summer madness

the weather is hot and girls are dressing less

and checking out the fellas to tell 'em who's best

riding around in your jeep or your benzos

or in your Nissan stting on lorenzos

back in Philly we be ou in the park

a place called the plateau is where everybody goes

guys out hunting and girls doing likewise

honking at the honey in front of you with the light eyes

she turn around to see what you beeping at

it's like the summers a natural afradesiac

and with a pen and pad I compose this rhyme

to hit you and get you equipped for the summer time

summer, summer, summertime

time to sit back and unwind

it's late in the day and I ain't been on the court yet

hustle to the mall to get me a short set

yeah I got on sneaks but I need a new pair

cause basketball courts in the summer got girls there

the temperature's about 88

hop in the water plug just for old times sake

break to ya crib change your clothes once more

cause you're invited to a barbeque that's starting at 4

sitting with your friends cause y'all remincise

about the days growing up and the first person you kiss

and as I think back makes me wonder how

the smell from a grill could spark up nostalgia

all the kids playing out front

little boys messin round with the girls playing double-dutch

while the DJ's spinning a tune as the old folks dance at your family

reunion

then six o'clock rolls around

you just finished wiping your car down

it's time to cruise so you head to the summertime hangout

it looks like a car show

everybody come lookin real fine

fresh from the barber shop or fly from the beauty salon

every moment frontin and maxin

chillin in the car they spent all day waxin

leanin to the side but you can't spead through

Two miles an hour so everybody sees you

there's an air of love and of happiness

and this is the Fresh Prince's new defintion of summer madness

summer, summer, summertime

time to sit back and unwind

I've got four weeks of super intense summer classes, then no school from mid-July to late September. I'll probably head down to California for a week or so, a couple times, and I've been considering going up into the mountains and doing a bike trip up there too. I'll most likely squeeze in a couple visits to Seattle and my first visit to Canada (Vancouver, B.C.) and check it out.

I'm saving my midwest and east coast trips for next year.

Eh, I got a week of summer classes in two weeks. Living in a dorm in rural Maine, don't how much I'm going to be on here that week haha. Probably going up to my camp a lot. I've got a couple of concerts/stand up comedy gigs I'm going to. Zack Galifinakis on July 7th in Boston, Fountains of Wayne on August 9th in Boston (free show!), HippieFest(huge oldies concert) on August 12th. Other than that not much out of the ordinary.

Get married, go to NY, get trained to teach AP classes, read, do political stuff (we have a gubernatorial election in KY this year & my group is hosting an event in September), move in to a house, get adjusted to living with someone, hopefully spruce up my classroom a little bit.

My plans for the summer this year:

- working my BUTT off at my job to get money to fix up the car (a new sound system at least)

- hoping to make a trip to Texas by the end of summer to visit a friend of mine

- going to see The Incredible Hulk and The Dark Knight when they come out

- I need to do some serious reading this summer. I have a list of books I want to read before college starts in the fall.

Ahhh summertime. I just graduated high school so I plan to work a lot (to get extra money to spend in college next year) and of course celebrate a lot all summer haha. Prob go camping once or twice, and I plan to go to the beach for two seperate weeks. Looks to be a busy but excellent summer for me.

Well, my summer vacation from teaching begins June 26th. From there I'm going to work part-time at Best Buy and a grocery store. I'll end up going to Maine for camping and general relaxing for two weeks in mid July. I'm also going to the Warped Tour for the first time. That's my summer in a nutshell.

once you get out of school and such, summer is no different than any other season. just hotter. i'm planning on sitting in front of the A/C and not moving unless i have to. of course, it would be nice if i get my kids back this summer. if so, my parents are planning on taking them camping for a week sometime. if not, then at least i'll have my own place so i won't have to put up with three other roomates screaming all the time...

Everything about this summer looked good, I couldn't shake this ominous feeling of dread that something was going to fuck it up... then I did a few days in jail. Hopefully that was it, and it'll be smooth sailing now. Things are overall looking better than they have in some time.

I'm not going to drink any alcohol this summer, I decided. I'm a month sober as it is. Shouldn't be too hard to maintain.

Working. My plan was to work my ass off in Calgary. I play in a golf tournament every Thanksgiving weekend; I was hoping to transfer home, debt-free, for that, and buy a house.

So, work, work, work. Give me 90 minutes or so a day to sit on the patio with my feet up, and I'm content with summer. I miss the fuck out of playing golf (and it's going to worse before it gets better), but I make enough money to get a membership somewhere next year and make up for the lack of golf this summer.

Hopefully, I'll be working for a group that's trying to pass a referendum to build a casino in Western Maine. Other than that, lazin' about, going to see movies and concerts.

I have all these hopes and plans at the outset of each summer and things rarely pan out the way I envision them. No big plans this time around. Just working for my uncle a few days a week, working for myself the other days, and enjoying the extra time to hit the gym, cook, shoot the bull with friends, and all that shit. I was about to type that I won't be going on any trips, but then I remembered I need to go to North Carolina in August for my brother's wedding, so scratch that.

So long as my bank account gets fat, I put the finishing touches on my apartment (even though I've lived here for a year and a half), and I get to catch up stuff that doesn't get my attention during school, I'm content.

Going through the very long process of getting hired at a police department. I made it through phase one with flying colors, now I gotta go through the next 1,409,090,809,109 phases.

I decided to be financially responsible and decided to pass on any involved vacations. I'm just going to stay local, might hit up DC for a few days at most. Other than that, read, hang out, go to some shows and loiter. Lots of low impact fun.

This is new. And frightening.

I've got to find a new apartment and would like to find a new job. Neither of these are terribly fun when it's 90+ degrees out. The summer concert line-up for the DC area is surprisingly good so far, which'll be a nice change of pace.

I started reading this thread and didn't realize it was from 2007. I saw that Smitty was getting married, and it blew my mind. I was like, "Fuck. Dude just got married last year. I don't remember him saying anything about a divorce." Then I noticed it was last year's June 1st.

I plan on closing on my house, moving, getting a new job, biking to work, saving massive amounts of money, and entering the fall in much better financial shape. The gas prices have forced me to leave the insurance and investments field, and I am up for a good salary job that is exactly two blocks from my new house. If everything falls into place, this could be the best summer ever for me. If everything doesn't fall into place, it will be a disaster.

Just biking, lots of it as usual. Probably heading to school over the summer and getting ready for the next rugby season, I'm in a hell of a lot better shape than I was last year, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm going out to Atlanta in early September for one of my best friends' wedding, so that should be interesting, but that's about all the travelling I plan on doing outside of visiting my mom down in San Fran a little bit before Atlanta. I gotta save up money and pay off some old debts, so I'm just going to enjoy whatever's left of summer after this ridiculous long late winter/early spring bullshit we've had since April.

Oh yeah, and fucking bitches is high on the list now too, since I'm newly single and the ex will be moving out in a couple weeks, finally, back to her white trash family. I'm maintaining ever-vigilant of my Xbox 360 and my bike until then.

I'm heading out west for a couple of weeks with the semiwife. Yellowstone, Glacier, Badlands, Mitchell Corn Palace..many fine parks and monuments. I'll likely break my sobriety for a few nights of hallucinogens and communication with the ancients.
