Cena should win but get destroyed in the process. Then the next night on raw, He loses his smile and forfits to Orton.

The last few RAW's that I have watched have been nothing but mixed reactions for Cena. All I can hear are little kids/girls screaming for him, and then a lot of boo's coming from an older crowd (i'm assuming)...

For the sake of edification, would you please define "older crowd?" Because I like Cena, and I'm pretty old, for a wrestling fan... All my friends that are my age and still into wrestling like Cena, too...

Well, just judging on the voices for the people who are booing Cena. They sound like they are older voices, and on top of that, everyone I watch wrestling with (18-23 year olds) all despise Cena, and have despised him since he got his first title push.

My hate for Cena is nothing new. I'm not jumping on the Cena hating bandwagon.

But like I am saying, judging by the voices in the crowd, the deeper, more mature voices seem to be the ones that are shitting on Cena.

I've done a complete flip-flop on Cena this year... it's almost a backlash to the backlash. I used to be a pure-bred Cena hater, but this year, he's been the second most consistant guy on the roster (only topped by Matt Hardy). I give Cena alot of credit for being champion this long and still seeming to have a level head about things. Also, I really want the year long reign.

Orton... I've NEVER liked him, so this responce is elementary.

Cena.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like Cena, and I think he's boring as hell.

That said, I fucking HATE Randy Orton. I've never seen any reason for him to get pushed a thousand times, despite somehow fucking it up every time. Oh wow, he kicks people in the head, I CAN DO THAT FER FUCKSAKES.

Pretty much my feelings too. Especially those kicks, they look so goddamned weak, I can't believe anyone would buy that they could put someone on the shelf.

Sorry... I guess I tend to get a trifle :hm: whenever I hear someone refer to 18-23 year-olds as an "older" crowd; I passed 18-23 a ways back...

Well, the first two he 'fucked up' were by being turned too soon at the peak of his career and fed to HHH and put in a credibility-crushing feud with The Undertaker. Both booking mistakes.

He kicks people in the head because he's booked to do so. People really need to get over the whole head-kicking thing. If you wanna psycho-analysis everything as 'why should that concuss Dusty Rhodes and put everybody out of commission compared to this and that that didn't' then we'll be analysing every nearfall ever in wrestling and saying 'hey, if Austin can kick out after a Rock Bottom then why shouldn't anyone else?' And as for the whole "it's just a kick in the head" arguement... well, no shit! I'd imagine getting kicked like that would do damage, let's find someone who's had it done to them in the real world and ask them. Sure it's basic, but that doesn't matter. Again, why not start with the 'The Rock Bottom sucks I CAN DO THAT FER FUCKSAKES, it's just a trip and the guy barely falls three feet!'. It's wrestling. It's all in the illusion.

Especially those kicks, they look so goddamned weak, I can't believe anyone would buy that they could put someone on the shelf.

A better arguement.

I've been making this argument for weeks now. I know I get a little obnoxious when I'm in the chat room during RAW, but I really, REALLY hate the running shin massage.

I knew all along I wasn't alone in that sentiment, I'm just glad there are people finally just coming out and saying it.

Yeah, it's like, jesus, don't ever show the guys marking out for Orton's kicks any tapes of old Bruiser Brody matches, or their heads might explode.

It's okay. It's not like I took anything you said personally. I understand that Cena is over in one way or another, I understand he is the money guy right now.... I just can't get into him. His character is so stale to me, it makes me want to vomit everytime I have to watch him on the mic.

Maybe it will be revealed that Orton had some kind of Steal Shin guard covered by his boot and that was the reason behind the force of his kicks

*shrugs*

The hilarious thing about Orton is that he's been doing his sissy kicks and giving people concussions, and yet he gives Cena an RKO on a chair and the dude basically no sells it.

It would also help if Orton actually had beaten some top stars to get to this point. He's beaten Dusty Rhodes and Sgt. Slaughter of late. He didn't really beat either HBK or RVD in those matches. I'm so impressed, Randy.

if it was anyone else other than Cena holding the strap, then ok. Cena hasn't been out the title picture in over 2 years. If he's not in the title picture, what's left to do? Will he be the new Lashley and get in a angle with McMahon? All signs point to no.

He's either going to win (best thing right now) or get a head injury and take a few weeks off (which he deserves).

Cena certainly does need, and deserve some time off. At the rate at which top guys are getting hurt, its only a matter of time before Cena gets hurt and has to quickly job, or relinquish the belt.

Time off doesn't necessarily prevent those sudden outta-nowhere injuries that put most of the injured guys on the shelf, though. Hell, there are several instances when a guy gets hurt on his first match back from time off. Nash's quad tear comes to mind.

Yeah, I remember that. I mean, everyone usually has a bad day at work their first one back from a vacation. But I have to admit, I've never torn a quad from the bone in any instance of mine I can recall.

Cena deserves the time off, though. The guy has been carrying the company for the past three Wrestlemanias, and I think if he's willing to drop the belt and fade away a bit for a little while, I think they should let him.

I honestly doubt he'll be forgotten. As much as you love him or hate him, everyone knows who he is. Honestly, I'd like to see him get a sort of mini-repackage, and maybe pick up some more wrestling skills. If you coupled that with his charisma, his promo work, and his overall physicality... I think he could come back better than ever. And the added skills would probably help to silence some of the folk who can't stand his brawler-who-overcomes-all persona.

Still... if Orton does win, I'm hoping its transitional. As much as everyone would hate it, I'm guessing he'd drop it to Trips soon after.

Despite my strong dislike for his character, he is certainly dedicated for the reasons you mentioned. However, if Mcmahon and the wwe were truly concerned for the well being of their wrestlers as they so claim, they would force him to take some time off even if he didn't want to. There is only so much one person can take, even if that person is the most determined and dedicated individual on the roster. I don't think there is anyone else that even comes close to being consistently active as Cena and its only a matter of time before it catches up to him mentally and physically.

Consider how stale he has gotten, it would do not only himself/body some good but his character as well.

I've got to admit to voting Orton. I can't really stand him, but Cena is so so boring, and part of me just wants to watch Orton become the centrepiece of the company and then fuck up hideously. Which I have to say would probably be more entertaining and definitely more moral than watching TV based around Eddie's death.

I don't know if it's the reign itself, or the boring guy who's holding the dumbass spinny belt. I don't remember this kind of huge "drop the strap now or diiiiiiiie" sentiment when, hmmm, it's hard to think of a long recent reign, aha, when RVD had the ECW television title for a year and a half.

It wouldn't be stale if every feud wasn't exactly the same:

1) Name someone #1 contender.

2) Said #1 contender lays out Cena at least twice in the month leading to the PPV.

3) #1 contender hits the same finishing move that laid out Cena on RAW, but this time Cena recovers in seconds, not minutes.

4) "Former" #1 contender comes out and makes excuse for why they lost, and requests rematch. Cena's retort is inevitably "If you want some (more), come get some (more)!"

5) Whatever finisher #1 contender did NOT lose to in the previous PPV, he will lose to at this PPV.

6) Loop back to step 1.

I am not a Cena hater by any means, but I do agree with this statement. Look at Cena and his history of feuds since jumping to RAW with the title. Most of them are the same.

Comes to RAW, Jericho and Christian bicker over who gets to fight him. They fight him on PPV and lose.

Jericho announced sole number one contender, loses. Leaves RAW.

Shortly after attacked by Kurt Angle, announced as new number one contender. Fights for a few PPVs.

Elimination Chamber, everyone tossed in. Cena overcomes odds, Edge sneaks in with number one contender contract on a beat down man, wins belt, only to lose a few weeks later.

Triple H wins tournament, loses to Cena, rematch with HHH and Edge, Cena wins.

RVD shows up with Number One Contender contract, Edge runs interference.

Cena randomly fights Sabu while Edge chases title, Edge screws Cena, takes belt, sneaks away at Summerslam, only to lose in his own specialty match at Unforgiven.

Gets involved with Champion of Champions story, but is more concerned about K-Fed.

Thrown into random Classic Survivor Series match.

Tossed into Smackdown main event for Armageddon in attempt to boost buy rate as company starts doubting split brand shows, still more focused about K-Fed.

Starts fighting undefeated monster Umaga. Attacked by Umaga because both are unstoppable. Beats him twice.

Starts feud with HBK because HBK almost won Royal Rumble, re-lives December and thrown on Smackdown PPV.

Partners that don't like each other storyline created to go into Wrestlemania, wins.

Fights his un-trusted partner and the guys who put his partner's real partner out of commission. Beats them all.

Khali comes around, see Umaga.

Draft makes new matchups, every person that has had a world title loses to him.

Lashley was stripped of title, angry. Announced number one contendor, attacks Cena, loses.

Orton has been putting people out, attacks Cena, now number one contendor, loses.

I don't think I necessarily illustrated what I wanted to say, but what I was going for is there hasn't really been an exciting angle for the title since Cena has had it. Many of the contenders just come across as randomly showing up to try to get it and failing. The closest to a story against his opponent was with Edge and that was after he randomly showed up. The most intriguing angle was probably Champion of Champions, but Cena's booking made him seem to be more concerned with Federline than the other champions. Rather than it being someone we want to see a match up with, it comes across as "Oh, you beat Wrestler A, so what will you do against... Wrestler B!" I don't have a problem with Cena, but I feel there haven't been too many of his matches which I have been made to care about, and if I have, it is mainly because of the opponent (i.e. Edge and RVD breaking into the main event scene).
