PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 JOHN CENA INJURED IN RAW MAIN EVENT, FULL DETAILS by Mike Johnson @ 12:10:21 AM on 10/2/2007 Details are still sketchy but the word coming from backstage at the Raw taping is that WWE champion John Cena is believed to have suffered a torn right pectoral muscle during his main event match against Ken Kennedy. He is tentatively scheduled to undergo a MRI tomorrow to examine the severity of the injury. I don't have to tell anyone reading this what a major blow this would be to the entire company if Cena needs to be out for any extended period of time. The injury appeared to happen during a botched hiptoss on Kennedy that ended awkwardly with Kennedy landing atop Cena. Cena then nailed an armdrag. The two ended up in the corner, which led to a clean break. Cena backed up to the opposite corner and was obviously favoring his arm immediately. Cena gutted through the match and post-bout angle with Randy Orton, where he was laid out following a RKO on the announcer's table. Cena is scheduled to main event the No Mercy PPV this Sunday in Chicago, Illinois against Orton in a Last Man Standing Man.

JimmyHendricks 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Don't you mean the 3 week Orton title reign followed by the 6 month HHH title reign? I'm sick of injuries ending title reigns. Bleh.
slimm44 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I definitely noticed something was up towards the end of the match. Amazing. He's gone injury free and been really lucky considering how hard he pushes his matches for the past two years. I'm kinda bummed out, but more excited (at least until I read that Orton will win the title then job to the newly acquired/traded from Smackdown Mark Henry.) And this is now the second time this year a Hell in a Cell match has been planned but not occured* *Note - Cena's injury not yet diagnosed.
mfn 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 and all the cena haters get their wish...... i don't like cena the character, but i do like the story he tells in the ring... just a shame he might be out for a while.
Ced 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 WWE acknowledges the injury. Depending on how serious it is, this is potentially a huge monkey wrench in the WWE's plans. Might as well give Dr. Andrews a run since practically every singles champ within the past 6 months has wound up in his care.
mfn 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 notice in the link about the cena injury, the TWO is highlighted.... they are really pushing this whatever it is.
Enigma 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I'm fully expecting WWE to do what ECW did with Shane Douglas in 1998 and just let him sit out as the champion the whole time.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 They acknowledge it because it easily plays into the build up for the match and gives Cena an excuse to lose (if he does). I would actually like a champion to remain with the title despite the injury gimmick but it doesn't really work with a face. It took a death, 20 suspensions and a pair of crucial injuries but Orton will finally get his title reign.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I don't wish injury on anyone, espically when they're in a role like Cena's been in, but if this freshens up the WWE title scene, then I kinda won't mind if the title is taken off Cena.

Does it really freshen anything up when it'll go right back to Orton and then HHH?

Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Doesn't every WWE champ get a torn pec muscle along with their reign? Cena looked to be in a lot of pain during the match tonight. I thought after the commercial break the matched ended quickly.
LJSexay 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 looks like Ken is both prone to injury AND prone to injuring (at least storyline-wise). Really sucks for Cena.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 So I was just able to watch the end of the match, and he had to get hurt doing the commerical break. As soon as they came back I could tell something was wrong, Cena wasn't moving his right arm at all and I could see, what looked like, some type of bruising or red swelling on his right bicep. Even when Cena put the STF on Kennedy, Cena didn't do anything to raise Kennedy's head up higher. Cena really couldn't move his arm at all, and I think what's going to make it worse is when he took the RKO on the table, he landed right down on that arm. I'll give Cena credit, he did finish the match and he took that beating from Orton and landed on that arm a few times but still did what he had to do. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Cena will beat Orton and then get stripped on RAW so they can do the same thing they did with Batista after his one really long title reign.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 You kept count huh? I wouldn't mind a ACTUAL title tournament that lasted awhile.
Guest jotumare Report post Posted October 2, 2007 i always had faith that Kennedy's poor wrestling skills would pay off some day But really, this is a big blow to the WWE IF it's something serious, although i would like some 4-6 motnhs without Cena so he can "refresh" his gimmick

Without that, we wouldn't be seeing these suspensions.

Keep in mind this is from WWE.com This could be a way to protect Cena if there is a title change at the PPV. This is from WWE.com.... During his match with Mr. Kennedy Monday night at Raw, WWE Champion John Cena was injured. As Randy Orton attacked Cena after the match, Jim Ross commented on The Champ's condition. "It looked like Cena was injured earlier - his shoulder - against Mr. Kennedy," Ross said on the air. If Cena was hurt, the injury was undoubtedly worsened by Orton’s brutal attack, which included two RKOs and an assault with steel ring steps. The extent of The Champ’s injury is unknown. As a precaution, Cena headed to Birmingham, Ala. Monday night to be evaluated by Dr. James Andrews. This is the LAST thing WWE needs, as Cena has literally carried the RAW brand for over 2 years. Say whatever you want about Cena, he is RAW's #1 draw.

mysterious_w 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Erm, isn't a torn muscle one of those injuries very common in heavy steroid users? You know, the one you all mention when HHH, Batista, Edge got injured etc. Maybe he isn't as squeaky clean as some of you think.
AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I said in the Summerslam thread (I think it was that thread) that they better take the belt off Cena soon before he gets hurt, so I can't say I'm utterly shocked that he got hurt last night.
