The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 If they're counting Searching For Bobby Fischer than so am I. It's my alltime favorite movie...so I pick it.
Red Baron Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Only one person mentioned Slapshot! For shame. Slapshot Caddyshack Raging Bull Rocky IV Rocky Rocky II The Longest Yard Happy Gilmore Remember the Titans Friday Night Lights Major League The Sandlot Rookie of the Year Little Giants
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 What's that old b&w picture about the Argentine giant who's actually a creampuff with a glass jaw? He can hit like a truck and he's big, but that's it. There's a few old-timey fighters in it, too, and Bogart. Harder they Fall. Thanks, internet.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Necessary Roughness is Baculatastic. Plus it has Sinbad. I'd probably rank it in my top 10. But, like, high top ten. Definitely top 15.
strummer Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Necessary Roughness is Baculatastic. Plus it has Sinbad. I'd probably rank it in my top 10. But, like, high top ten. Definitely top 15. Don't forget Bateman. Plus Robert Loggia and Hector Elizondo rule it. I love that God Damn movie.
The Niggardly King Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Major League, easy. You can't top this scene. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=17...h&plindex=0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMXNGaSqGl4 I'd argue that it has one of the best endings for a sports movie. Those final ten minutes are magic.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 I can`t tell you how many times I called for a homerun and then bunted as a kid. Hell, pretty much everything I know about baseball comes from Major League, and dammit, it`s been too long for me to change now.
MillenniumMan831 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 I can`t tell you how many times I called for a homerun and then bunted as a kid. Hell, pretty much everything I know about baseball comes from Major League, and dammit, it`s been too long for me to change now. I got to go w/ Major League as well but that's probably has as much to do w/ my city of residence as it does the movie quality. I loved the entire Spring training sequence (that tune used was very catchy) and Harry Doyle is my hero. To this day, this exchange makes me grin . . . Tireword. Hello Lou, this is Charlie Donovan of the Cleveland Indians, how would you like to manage the Indians this year? (Groaning) Ah, I don't know. What do you mean you don't know? This is a chance to manage in the big leagues. Let me think it over, I got a guy on the other line about some whitewall, I'll talk to ya later *click*
RonL21 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 The Sandlot D2: The Mighty Ducks A League of Their Own Major League Tin Cup The Love I saw for Necessary Roughness makes me teary-eyed. Glad Im not the only one.
RonL21 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 And Whose Idea was it to go from an R rated classic to a PG let down?
CanadianGuitarist Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 And Whose Idea was it to go from an R rated classic to a PG let down? I have some buddies who loved ML2, and I've always answered them the same way. If they had seen them sequentially, they'd notice a huge difference. Not the second was a train wreck or anything, but it wasn't even close.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 I can't believe none of you guys really mentioned Slapshot... Easily Top 5 sport movie of all time.
Red Baron Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 So I just watched the ending of Major League. Hayes doesn't even touch third base.
Red Baron Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Youngblood sucks and ruins the good sport of Hockey.
Vampiro69 Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 A sports movie with James Van der Beek doesn't count.
A Happy Medium Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 The best thing about Youngblood is Keanu's role and terrible French-Canadian accent. I've always adored Necessary Roughness It was also filmed at my college. I have walked where Scott Bakula has walked.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Major League 2 is awful, awful. Halfway through they gave up and just made the first movie again!
Cran Da Maniac Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 The love of ML2 I think stems from the fact that if you saw the 2nd one first, then it seems like a good movie. Tho ML2 did have some good scenes. "YOU HAVE NO <looks in book> MAHBULES!"
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 No love for Pride of the Yankees or Knute Rockne, All American?
CanadianChris Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 And the 3rd one really sucks There was no third one.
CanadianGuitarist Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 And the 3rd one really sucks There was no third one. There was, but consider yourself lucky. I think Cerrano was the only returnee.
