MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Recommended Posts

Tito is such a little bitch. He wants a title shot again so fast, when he hasn't done anything in years. He's beaten an old Ken Shamrock and what else? An unimpressive win against Forest Griffin, who isn't anything special himself?

If Tito wants constant title shots he has to show that he can beat somebody. If he beats Rashad it will be the best win he's had in years.

Sucks that his career is done but I'm not crying about ever having to watch him hump his way to victory again.

Yeah, Lord knows that the young, 22 year old kid was never going to evolve as a fighter anyways.

Shut the fuck up.

Ok, see, the thing is that he did none of those things against Herring. Which the majority of the JOB hatred stems from. It's not like I'm not recognizing the skills. It's that he choses not to utilize them.

Nobody's acting bitchy. You're the bitch for not owning up and admitting you were completely *wrong* about that fight, while dancing around this "boring" fighter comment. He did everything you accused him of not doing, in the fight that you said he didn't do it in. It's okay to admit you're wrong sometimes you know.

That Herring/O'Brien match was a nightmare. Glad I never have to see Koscheck 2.0 wrestle again. Hope he survives that injury deal though!

I'm wrong. Forgive me for not having re-watched a horrible fight. And the bitchy comment was more towards Tong not you.

If you're going to base hatred of a guy largely on one fight, you should at least get the facts of the fight right in the first place.

Also, I'm not going to argue that O'Brien's fights weren't largely boring to most people. That being said, I liked watching the guy fight. In the Herring fight, it was fascinating to watch this kid even younger than me absolutely dominate a much more experienced fighter with skills rarely seen amongst HW's nowadays. Most people were upset that Jake didn't finish him, while I was more enthralled as to whether Jake would be able ride out a win against a very squirmy opponent with a knack for pulling victory from the jaws of defeat. I'm sure most MMA fans would rather watch a couple of guys like Aleksander & Khraritonov punch each other in the face, but I'm not most MMA fans.

But anyways, O'Brien had a chance to be something special in MMA, and to see that possibly end so prematurely is truley a sad thing to me.

So with the idea of Ken possibly getting a UFC return, I wonder:

How? Doesn't Ken being with the IFL keep him from working with the UFC as a fighter? I remember reading or hearing about how Dana absolutely hates the IFL with a passion. So, does this mean that the IFL is simply allowing Ken to participate in this fight? Has he left the IFL or what?

I have no idea what it means, but if Dana really hated everything IFL he'd have banned Tompkins and Hordecki from cornering Stout, and Heiron from cornering the unrelated Griffins. He does seem to have some sort of ongoing love-hate feud with Militech though, and probably he doesn't like that a guy who helped tank the comic book industry is one of the IFL cofounders.

Is the next WEC show going to be free on VS again?

I missed the last one just out of sheer idiocy (I was browsing TV...saw it...and it totally slipped my mind that it was the actual show)

Anyone know the next replay on it, I want to see the Faber fight :)

The show as a whole was pretty solid so if you do manage to find a replay try to catch the whole thing.

Well, UFC themselves confirmed Hamill vs. Bisping today so there goes that Shamrock fight.

Personally, I find the fight to be bullshit. What has Hamill shown to get to fight Bisping? Why do they keep spoon-feeding Bisping gatekeepers and nobodies? I want to see him fight someone good.

For some reason I find this funny:

Power Ranger to fight MMA

Well, at least Frank was actually in martial arts prior to Power Rangers. Most of the Power Rangers now are just actors with stunt doubles subbing in for fight scenes.

...I just know, OK?

Anyway, I'd have thought he'd be a better fit for the World Combat League, but what do I know?

Then again it's still better than doing porn ala the Red Ranger.

So I get to debate MMA's affect on society on Wednesday in my Entertainment and Society class and I need to formulate a good rebuttal to the notion that by watching MMA we are going to get so desensitized that eventually we will be watching deathmatches. Obviously, I am using the less concentrated injuries than boxing arguement. Any ideas on what else I should use.

I don't know if you could incorporate this somehow, but Bloodsport came out in 1988, has been a staple movie for cable television, and the kumite is a glorified deathmatch. My point is that we've been watching virtual deathmatches before MMA truly existed, so why blame MMA?

That was a damn fucking good show. Ninja/Joey, Le/Fryklund and Ludwig/Daley all delivered and Baroni/Shamrock was pure pro-wrestling balls out awesome. Frank is such a douche. Goldberg was lovin' him up hard.

Frank was hardcore gassed after two rounds. Unless he works on his stamina(!), I don't see him doing anything else in the division, but I don't see him fighting any top 10 fighters anytime soon as it is.

Just watched a few of the matches on dailymotion.com

Cung Le is a fucking blast to watch. And I'm glad that Frank has been able to come back strong. Although Baroni isn't really much of a challenge anymore for him.

I think Cung Le could be huge in the UFC, great kicks, good look, fun fights

Frank Shamrock beat Baroni by KO in round 2. Wonder who Frank will face for his next fight a year from now?

He wants a Gracie Rematch... Ceasar? I think.
