HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 No one is really going to care, but I got my third stripe on my BJJ White Belt today and I'll be heading down to North Carolina for my first tournament this weekend, followed by one in Jersey next weekend. Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2008 Oh, yeah. Diaz gets dropped a fair bit actually. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was talking about his ability to absorb punishment and keep going. This is what I was getting at. Nick Diaz has been dropped, but has the wetback spirit that LeiTong holds so dear, you know, the kind that Julio Cesar Chavez and MAB made a career out of. He's not been dropped as much as Alvarez though, and the guys that have knocked him down are some of the biggest power punchers in MMA. Also, I accepted the possibility of Alvarez winning on cuts, so yes Curry, I do believe that it's possible for him to open a vagina on Diaz' head.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2008 Didn't he get re-injured as well? Oh and to all Canadians UFC 83 is (finally) out on DVD. 2 Discs, tons of special features and really worth picking up to see Vlasquez, Maia and others on the undercard. Stout/Clementi was a lot closer watching it on DVD, I thought live that it was pretty clear-cut for Rich. Also, MacDonald tapped when Doerkson had him in the kimura something I didn't notice live. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2008 Stout won against Rich IMO.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2008 Honestly if Clementi hadn't scored that last takedown in the third I think Sam could've taken it.

Warriorfan 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 I was watching Bowe vs Holyfield 1 and after the 10th RD, one of the greatest in boxing history; it made me think of what would be comprable in the history of MMA. Griffin vs Bonnar Rd 3 is basically a pre-requisite, Hughes vs Trigg 2 where Hughes becomes Superhuman and gets out of the deepest RNC and comes back and wins. There is Sapp vs Nogueira just for Nogueira overcoming the behemoth after nearly being crushed. After we debate what is worthy enough to be considered, maybe we can get a poll going and vote on it. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 EliteXC, November 8th, Location TBD but rumored to be New Mexico Joey Villasenor vs Robbie Lawler for EliteXC Middleweight Title Nick Diaz vs Eddie Alvarez for the vacant EliteXC LW Title Scott Smith vs Hector Lombard Rafael Feijao vs TBA (rumors point to either Seth Petruzelli or Cyril Diabate) Sarah Kaufman vs Kaitlin Young I am so very stoked to see Sarah Kaufman getting a shot in a known organization. She's been tearing it up in Canada on the TKO and (when they were around) HCF shows. Very solid fighter.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 What follows is a post from former Fight Network employee J.T McCarthy on everybody's favorite torch.... "I’m shocked that it took TFN that long to lose the UFC credentials, considering when you put Mauro at a dinner table with 3 female PR Reps from Zuffa and he proceeds to tell them to their faces that they are “…dumb c#$ts, who know nothing about MMA and never will” you’d think it would’ve been at THAT point UFC would’ve banned TFN due to his antics. And that was just one of several incidents in Columbus during that weekend… I was also present for an altercation in which Mauro physically attacked a fellow employee for no reason what-so-ever. If I’m not mistaken, it was due to the employee simply asking him a question about an upcoming report that was to be filmed for the ‘Knockout News’ feature. Mauro snapped and dived at him and had to be restraigned by several people in the office. As for my “beef” with the guy, it can’t even be classified as such. It’s just my complete and utter disgust with all that he does, he’s not at all professional, treats people he feels are under him like garbage and is without question, thee worst company spokesman/on air rep that one could have… As for TFN going off air, those rumors are still VERY true, I can assure you. Matter of fact, they are much more than rumors." Seems like The Fight Network is in some serious shit as in the last 5 months or so they've lost Loretta Hunt, Randy Couture and now Big John McCarthy has resigned. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 So what exactly happened with KJ Noons? Did he just outright refuse to fight Nick Diaz so he got stripped of the title or what? And if so, why did he refuse to fight Nick, just cause he doesn't like him?
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 The reality of the KJ Noons situation is that Noons wanted more money. He felt, and possibly rightly so that he had earned a better deal. He has a valid argument in that regard in that he was still on the same deal before he beat Diaz & Edwards back to back. However, he had signed a MMA/Boxing joint deal through Shaw, and Elite XC wouldn't honor the boxing side of it because...well...he was an MMA champion. For whatever reason, he's one of those dumb fuckers who thinks you can do two sports at once and succeed. No one has ever done it before him as far as I know in the "Boxing-Kickboxing-MMA triangle", but he thinks he can. So that was an issue as well. So when Elite XC wouldn't do those two things, Noons basically tried to get some hardcore support by saying that he wouldn't fight Diaz since he wasn't the real top contender. In Elite XC's world, Diaz is, but Noons seemed to be using Alvarez's accomplishments in DREAM's GP to try and say he should be fighting him. Alvarez has fought *ONCE* in Elite XC prior to this, I believe on a Sho XC card. So he took his ball and went home. Elite XC then booked Diaz, the man he "wouldn't face" against Alvarez the man he "wanted to face" as a way to stick it to him. And to make it worse, Noons is still contractually obligated to Elite XC. So that makes him even stupidier.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2008 Tonight's ShoXC show was a complete clusterfuck, with questionable reffing, an extended break for a mouthpiece search & rescue, Jason Guida making a fool of himself on national television for the second time in a month, and a main event being partly decided by an uncalled knee to the groin. And all of that is to say nothing of having to listen to Mauro & Quadros commentating for 2 hours (nor Quadros horrible post-fight interviews).

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Hypothetical question for you guys: If Cyborg/Gina goes the distance, does Jared Shaw do everything he can to pull a Vince McMahon and have Gina get the decision?
