MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Recommended Posts

If it's just Fedor wanting to fight in Combat Sambo, then White should allow it. I understand not wanting other fighters to fight outside the UFC in MMA, but I don't think anyone will start questioning Fedors status as top in the sport if he loses to Volk Han Jr. in a Sambo match. If it is concerning the possibility of injury, does that mean Dana doesn't want Fedor riding motorcycles or fighting aliens? C'mon. Plus, clearly Fedor and his management are in deep with Russian Mob, so them saying "no" to big money is because their family will get burned if they leave Russia.

Says he's going. Put the link in Babelfish and fix the language bar to from Portuguese to English if you want to read it.

Says he asked for his debut to be postponed until December.

Don't forget that Sunday is the WEC card.

Here's the televised card:

Joe Doerksen vs. Paulo Filho (for vacant middleweight title)

Champion Carlos Condit vs. Brock Larson (for welterweight title)

Jeff Curran vs. Stephen Ledbetter

Sherron Leggett vs. Jamie Varner

The WEC card wasn't as good as the last one but was still worth watching.

Jamie Varner with a motherfucking death valley driver en route to victory.

Jeff Curran looked passable but Faber will steamroll him.

Filho destroyed Doerksen. Ref should have stopped the fight 30 seconds sooner, IMO. His head was bobbing up and down like a yo-yo w/ some of those shots he was taking towards the end. And Filho repping the cuttoff lumberjack flannel!!

The main event delivered though...that was a sick fucking armbar. I actually figured Larson would use his wrestling to steamroll him but damn was I wrong. That was such a sick armbar.

It's a shame that WEC hasn't really built up their WW division as well as the others because I don't see anybody sitting around a #1 Contender status to take on Condit. Having said that, UFC has a ton of guys @ WW they're not using right now that could go to WEC and challenge for the belt. For some reason Chris Lytle is a name that comes to mind.

And good gravy was that Death Valley Throw fucking sick. Having said that, shouldn't Varner have had another point taken away for intentionally spiking his opponent?

Poor Doerks.

Damian Maia has been apparently signed by the UFC.

Late breaking news . . . U.F.C. just signed current ADCC U87Kg Champion Demian Maia to a contract to fight in the 185 Division. Demian has a brief but very successful MMA career and U.F.C. saw his potential especially after his ADCC win.

Demian's statement: "I am so happy that I signed with U.F.C. This event was very influential in me pursuing a fighting career and Jiu-Jitsu. i already trained karate back in the days and watching Royce Gracie fighting in U.F.C. I inspired me to this career. I am thankful to the Fertitta Brothers, Dana White and Joe Silva for the opportunity and their confidence in me. I promise to give my all to the event and the pursuit of the belt, I want to thank the fans as well and all my students and friends especially Paulo Vasconcellos for their support"

I finally saw this last night, and I thought it was good. I agree that the shoot DVD was crazy, and that the Doerksen fight was stopped too late; I was half expecting his head to detach from the rest of his body, it was taking so many shots. The main event was good as well.

So Drew McFedries is going to be out of action for 6-8 months with a really bad case of staph infection that required leg surgery and skin grafts. Sucks because I think UFC had plans for him in the MW division and he was a fun fighter to watch.

I think GSP will win the fight. He has so many more ways to win. All I see Kos doing is taking him down and holding him. If he can take him down. Kos might be the better wrestler, but that does not mean the he will get the takedowns. Who can do takedowns in a fight not on a wrestling mat. I think I would beat Kos easier than GSP.

I think Sherk wins this fight. He will be stronger, better shape, and confident. I do not think BJ can stop his takedowns, and I do not think he can submit Sherk. Sherk will be in so much better shape. I was not impressed with BJs cardio in the Jens fight.

I think RRR hacked Matt Hughes' blog.

I was referring to Koscheck actually, but the funny thing about it is how he's like "I will beat koscheck way easier than GSP will". This guy is so fucking cocky.

And I love it, I don't know why the UFC didn't promote him more during his initial reign.

--UFC held a conference call with Dana White, Randy Couture, Gabriel Gonzaga, Josh Koscheck and George St. Pierre earlier today. White said the HBO deal was going to be made, blamed himself for the hold-up in closing the deal, and said the first HBO fight would be in the winter. "Before the end of the year, I guarantee it." He said that with one-year suspensions for everyone who fails a drug test that "You have to be a moron to use steroids." He said Brandon Vera had signed a new contract (his old deal had one fight left) and he would be facing Tim Sylvia in his next fight. The hinted date was 10/20 in Cincinnati, but other sources tell us that date isn't finalized and it may be later in the year. When asked about Fedor Emelianenko, he said that if Fedor came, he would face whomever is the champion in a unification fight in his first match in. Keep in mind UFC has no deal with Emelianenko and White may have been saying his booking idea if they get him, or saying that because if Fedor doesn't sign (UFC made a gigantic money offer, bigger than any other promotion, but insisted on just Fedor, none of his friends along for the ride, no creative control of booking, and complete exclusivity) he's made it clear Fedor walked away from a title match.

I don't want to see Wandy drop a third KO loss in a row so if/when the Chuck fight goes down it's going to be Brasil all the way. I'll be wearing my Chute Boxe shirt for the September show in support of Shogun and I'll do the same here even if he's not training with them at the moment.
