MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

So...Jake O'Brien's injuries, that were once thought to be career threatening, apparently aren't and he's set to resume training in early 2008.

I guess whoever the ball of sunshine it was that was glad his career is over is disappointed.

Mik, you tease. And he'll likely be on the undercard for a while so it's all good.

Ryo Chonan vs Thiago Alves @ UFC 78. Holla.

Card so far for the show.....

Karo Parysian vs Hector Lombard: This Time, It's for Judo

Ed Herman vs David Terrell/TBA: TBA is there for as Terrell will likely injure himself before the fight takes place

Joe Lauzon vs Jason Reinhardt

Spencer Fisher vs Frankie Edgar

Akihiro Gono vs Tamdan McCrory

Thiago Alves vs Ryo Chonan

UFC is trying to lock up Tito/Rashad II as the main event as they have since realized that even if Sherks appeal is held up he won't be able to fight in time. Good card so far which they're gonna need with a non-title main event.

Any chance of Nog being on that card? I've heard they want to have him, so who could he'd possibly face? Arlovski is a no go at the moment, as he's renegotiating his contract and wants retarded level of money.

Nog is rumored to be taking on either Kongo or Mir on the December show.

I think in terms of star-power the card isn't the greatest but the matchups are intriguing. Edgar/Fisher especially should be a good scrap with serious title ramifications. And hey, anytime Karo is fighting I'm down to watch.

What's the story on Ryo Chonan? I've seen Alves fight a few times and he's becoming a favorite of mine, and I'm wondering how he stacks up with this guy.

This includes some prognosticating which is why I put it here rather than the UFC 77 thread.

Regardless of the winner of Silva v. Franklin, how soon do you guys think they put the champ against Hendo for another unification bout? Is there anyone else that is more deserving of the shot (Legitimate question, not sarcastic/rhetorical)? In Dana's perfect world, I imagine Dan is next, he gets beaten, and Dana can go on about how weak the Pride champs are.

And the world goes mild.

I really don't get why they'd make that fight. I guess because Kongo beat Cro Cop...but that's about it. Kongo hasn't really shown any serious KO potential in any of his big fights, and has no real ground ability.

Inless Kongo works incredibly hard on not going to the ground, he's not making it out of the first round. Working on his ground abilities won't save him against Noguiera. He'd have to train specifically not to get taken down AT ALL.

I could very well see Nogueria getting KO although I doubt it happens. Remember Herring almost KO'd Nogueria. All I know is Nogueria better not go out there and try to strike with Kongo, and take him straight to the ground from the opening bell.

It's exactly because Kongo beat Cro-Cop. The plan, before Kongo fucked it up was to run Nog vs Cro-Cop II in December for #1 Contender.

After the Herring fight I'm way more scared for Nog in this fight then I need to be/should be.

I'm too lazy to start a thread about it, plus it's not confirmed officially but word's out that Fedor has signed with Russian promotion M1 who have in turn been purchased by a as-yet-unamed American entertainment company.

Looks like Rothwell and Whitehead won't be fighting for IFL.

Rothwell is a huge blow to the IFL, as he was there franchise fighter for the most part. UFC needs to sign this guy, he's only 25 and so far he's been killing the competiton in the IFL, he would be a great addition to add more depth to the HW divison for the UFC.

Whitehead since losing to Jardine back at UFC 57, he's been on a tear by posting 10 victories. He deserves another chance in the UFC, IMO.

"Killing the competition in the IFL" = Submitted by Frank Mir on a UFN undercard.

I'm kidding, kinda. I've seen a few Rothwell fights and.....well.....he's not as slow as Tim Sylvia.
