MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I would assume it's common courtesy with any sports-related title win. Is it really a bother to wait an extra 5 minutes to recognize a guy's achievement?

Whereas if your an amateur, a month of BJJ should suffice.

*shame*

Anyways, sounds like the crowd not only disrespected Hioki by leaving before he was crowned champion, but a number of people let loose a couple of racial slurs during the fight. I thought Canadians were a bunch of loving, understanding bastards? What gives?

As great a city as Montreal is, it's got a big problem when it comes to racist citizens. Always has.

It wasn't BJJ, it was Sambo, totally different. You could easily become, say, a leglock specialist in that time. *Fist pose*

Mark Kerr dropped out of that fight due to injury the day of. Something reeks of bullshit here, as he seemed fine at the weigh-ins. It's a really bitch move to drop out at the last second like that, especially when you've let on that nothing would happen. Really lame of him.

It's much worse when cops deal with minortys.

--On the UFC 56 DVD, they edited out the George St. Pierre promo where he got on his knees and pretended to be Terry Funk and begged Dana White for a title shot at Matt Hughes. It was one of the best promos on a UFC show in years, yet they kept, unedited, the horrible Kevin Jordan vs. Gabriel Gonzaga match on the same show

I was reading an interview with Chuck Liddell on MMA Weekly and he mentioned something that I found interesting. When asked about who he would like to fight, he mentioned Wanderlei Silva, and he was asked if UFC could throw more money at him than Pride and his response was:

"They don’t earn more than us now, I know guys out there and from what they tell me I know their not earning more – I think the UFC could afford him but I don’t know. "

Is the UFC now the #1 MMA promotion in the world?

No. K-1 pay the best. PRIDE is still the number 1 MMA only promotion in the world although obviously Shooto's lineage means it's the most respected organisation.

Only a handful of people in the UFC make six figures or more. Chuck earns more from endorsements (Xyience in particular) than he does from the UFC. Wanderlei has said many times he's rich enough to retire so really anything the UFC offers him money wise is inconsequential, it's what they can offer in terms of marketing him that will appeal to him. He has also said before he prefers the ring to the cage and is calling out Lil Nog right now for the PRIDE show they are planning for the fall in the USA so I don't think Wand is even that interested in going to the UFC right now. Also apparently Ninja was willing to go to the UFC but Chute Boxe turned down the offer on the grounds it was insulting so unless they are willing to dig deep I doubt we'll see any CB fighters in UFC, let alone their franchise player.

I believe Rampage recently referred to them as "U Fight Cheap" and passed on the deal they apparently talked about so obviously others in the business disagree with Chuck even at this point.

Question from MSIA that I'll pose to you guys (since I'm out of the loop):

Why is Samoa Joe considered a submission machine if he only has a rear naked choke? And no guard game?

My theory: most pro wrestling fans are retarded when it comes to actual fighting and think street fights last 5 minutes in length.

Uh, I just read an interview this week where Rampage had nothing but praises for the UFC.

Go watch the Final Resolution 2006 show so you can witness Joe escape the TRIANGLE CHOKE Jackson/Sakaruba style B-)

Obviously someone forgot to hook the leg, making them less knowledgable about submissions than Mark Hominick.

Does anyone know if there's a sports bar in Calgary that'll be showing UFC 60?

Possibly Schanks. They are the biggest sports bar in Calgary.

I just watched UFC: Super Saturday for the first time. Man Tito sure did talk a lot of shit after that fight.

If I were him I wouldn't talk any shit to Chuck. I don't think Tito ever beats Chuck.

How recent was it? I believe Rampage has signed a deal with WFA at this point because the UFC weren't willing to give him the money and hype he wanted whereas the WFA want to try position him as their posterboy.

Anyone heard more about these rumoured Bas vs Kimo and Rampage vs Lindland fights?

The interview was this week. Chuck Liddell still remains optismistic that Rampage will come to UFC, but will fight some tune ups in the WFA 1st.

But yeah I heard Lindland is going up to LHT to fight Rampage. I think Rampage will win.

I don't think anyone takes your opinion serious. Your the most known Tito hater on the board.

But seriously, Tito was fucking stupid for trying to stand up with Chuck, letting Chuck fight his fight.

If Tito tried to wrestle Chuck and get him to the ground, I think the outcome would be different. I know these guys are going to have a rematch. Maybe around the winter time this year, or early 2007.

I'm not a huge Tito hater. I just don't like the guy and like to see him lose. But I'll give him credit. He's fucking good and he trains hard. I just think he mouth writes a lot of checks his ass can't cash and in the case of Chuck Liddell I don't think he'll ever be able to follow through on any threat he makes.

For those that care, Bob Sapp ran out on his match with Ernesto Hoost at the last minute during K-1's Holland Grand Prix. For whatever reason, this may be the end of his fighting career as we know it.

Was their any explanation, or does he have a history of doing this?

I think the theory right now is not that he chickened out (he's been in the ring with Hoost twice already, not to mention Le Banner, Sefo, Fujita, etc.), but that he went to Holland expecting to be paid X amount of dollars but was instead going to be paid Y. Presumably, this upset him so he left.

The more I look at it, the more I think that it's about the money, which is what Sapp has stated from day one.
