Tawren 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 While "almost all economists" may still possess authority in academia, their credibility on Main Street is sorely lacking. In addition, many economists do not agree with you. In fact, Austrian economists vehemently disagree with you. That's an awesome quote
JPopStarKami 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 The Wrestling Observer is reporting that officials within WWE appear to be very upset with the Matt Hardy heel turn angle being spoiled on the internet prior to the Royal Rumble PPV. It should be noted that it seems WWE had planned to use Hardy the entire time, as opposed to rumors circulating that Christian was initially intended to be the run-in guy at the Rumble. Although people within the internet wrestling community had speculated the possibility of Matt being the guy to cost Jeff the title, it appears as if WWE is still very upset that the angle was leaked with a high degree of certainty on the day of the PPV. Wtf? I didn't even hear of it mentioned until the day of, and it was just speculation on the chat room, not one of the rumors on the website. To be honest I don't even know why they're upset. Marks don't read dirtsheets, do they? Isn't the IWC an 'insignificant' audience to them?

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 It's the crapsite special, Brody. They took one sentence and turned it into an entire paragraph as if it was a major WON news item. "There was a lot of internal unhappiness regarding Matt Hardy’s turn getting out, particularly since they apparently changed the original idea because it had gotten out." johnson316cane 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Yeah, I don't think scaling back the graphic nature of the programming is a bad thing at all. What graphic nature? The wwe hasn't been close to graphic in a long time... And How does an adult wrestling fan possibly enjoy a product that is catering to children? The more pg it gets, the worse it is. I don't want to return to the early 90s or 80s...the only difference right now is they don't have cartoon characters but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that's where they are going before too long. I don't get it really. One of the most successful periods they ever had along with the most successful characters they ever had were when the wwe didn't cater to children and the characters were more colorful/realistic. I'm not saying they have to go back to naked women on tv or wrestlers playing porn stars but I find it absurd and insulting that they go from one extreme to the other...whatever happened to the middle ground? Like no blood? Are you fucking kidding me? This is fucking professional wrestling for gods sake. It's no wonder why I find more enjoyment out of watching 25 year old nwa videos on youtube than i do about anything the wwe is doing today. I selfishly hope this experiment fails miserably. You know what I find a little absurd about the no blood thing? It’s more irresponsible to not show blood in my opinion. You’re basically telling kids to go ahead and whack your friend in the head with a steel chair or throw him into a table because there’s no consequences. I would think that a little kid would be a little more hesitant to perform a GTS on someone in his backyard or punt him in the head if he knew he was going to split the other person’s head open like an overripe cantaloupe. Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Y2G has come to the WWE Universe to save us all from the kids show WWE has become. It is one thing to appeal to the younger audience, and its another to turn a legendary company into a kids show, and that exactly what they're doing. Y2G vows to save every true, old school WWE fan from this kids show. And once he does, Monday Night Raw, ECW on SciFi, Friday Night Smackdown, every Pay-per-view, every live event will never EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR BE THE SAME........AGAIN!!! Join my group if you agree..... http://fans.wwe.com/nomorekids EDIT-While we're on the subject, the...WWE Universe...had a live chat during Raw with Katie Lea and Dolph Ziggler, and, from what I read, Dolphomania ran wild. Quote of the night was something like... WWEFan1: hbk needs a better storyline Dolph_Ziggler: Storyline? This is real life, brother!

RedJed 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 AC/DC canceled their live WM appearence They probably wanted too much money for the appearance. Whatever the case, I think the idea is still on the table to have ZZ Top perform live there, and also I was told they were supposed to be recording a song for Mania as well, which would have been used as the secondary tune for the show behind the ACDC one. With them pulling out now, it might be the main theme.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 I don't think that they were ever scheduled to play the event. Linda McMahon probably meant to say that they were providing the theme song, not performing it. Fine by me. Fuck that shitty band.

Fascinating point. I never thought of that and don't think I've ever heard someone mention it before. The irony of that possibly being true is hilarious. The whole thing reminded me of this one scene in The Simpsons where they go to Itchy and Scratchy Land: Marge: Such a violent motif. Guard: [laughs] There's no need to murmur, ma'am. Here at Itchy and Scratchy Land we're just as concerned about violence as you are. That's why we're always careful to show the consequences of deadly mayhem so that we may educate as well as horrify. Marge: When do you show the consequences? On TV that mouse pulled out that cat's lungs and played them like a bagpipe, but in the next scene the cat was breathing comfortably. Guard: Just like in real life…… Hey, look over there! (runs away)

zappafrank 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 While reading the discussion about events with a negative impact on wrestling (Benoit and OtE 99 continuing after Owen in particular), I was wondering how exactly WWE cleared out the arena the day the Benoit story broke. I don't think I've ever read anything about what the fans were told, how soon before showtime it was canceled, etc. Does anyone know?

foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Why hasn't JBL gotten another run with the world title? Mainly because he's on a show with John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and HBK. I think if he had stayed on Smackdown he would've gotten another reign for sure.
