  1. I'd just as soon have Riley as the lead heel interviewer; better than Kevin Cole, to be sure...
  2. :: promos a run-in to do a somersault hammerlock, just to make a liar out of Spike ::
  3. Bah; It's all about Riot and Jungle Grrrl.
  4. Exactly why is all this "opening promo" stuff a big deal, anyway? I can't be the only writer here who writes his matches independant of whatever is supposed to happen earlier in the show, can I?
  5. And, if all else fails, I'll bust one out sooner or later...
  6. Mobley pretty much only passed to Francis; he's never shown any proclivity to create for others.
  7. I actually wouldn't be surprised if this were the catalyst to Stojakovic leaving; the two guys who set Pedja up to score more than anyone else on the team were Divac and Christie. As far as how he fits into the Kings' motion offense, I'm worried that he won't fit at all. Mobley's a black hole; the ball goes into his hands, but it doesn't come out. He's not likely to move the ball around, and I wouldn't be surprised if Pedja's scoring average drops 6-8 ppg...
  8. You bet your ass she does; and deservedly so...
  9. I'm getting a George Steele vibe from Carnage; kinda cool... But, since when is 6'5" "nearly seven feet?"
  10. Second embarrassing loss in three games. What a fucking letdown; not only do the Kings split a four-game road trip against the absolute basement of the league, but they lose the last game I'm going to get to watch all season...
  11. I liked it; the game reminded me a little of the old N64 engine. The game is solid in exhibition mode, although I will agree that the story mode stinks.
  12. :: shrugs :: Can't recall that I ever referred to myself as a good writer... I disagree with WC not hitting hard; he might not "hit" hard, relative to his strength level, but relative to his moveset, he hits pretty damned hard; I'd venture to argue that a 215-lb man dropping onto your chest cavity from eight+ feet in the air hurts at least as much as a run-of-the-mill signature move by a guy with strength 5.
  13. Leave me out of this... Nice article, Tom.
  14. No. Because being a prick, in itself, does not a heel make; not in the post-Attitude era... there's a world of difference between not needing to cheat, and not cheating EVER! Good heel's don't cheat because they need to cheat; they cheat for the hell of it... for shits and giggles. As Jesse Ventura used to say, "win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat. I don't; I've never been able to pull it off. Whenever I have to write a face/face match, I always either end up making them look weak... or else, I lose. You'd have to ask him that. It would be different if you were content with him being one or the other, but you want him to be both; if the heel could take shots, then you could just put him over as a badass, and if he can't take shots, you can usually put him over as a conniving, cheating bastard... but you want to have your cake and eat it, too, and that makes writing your character difficult.
  15. "Fallen," by Mya
  16. Toxxic, you come across as a swell guy, and I think you're a pretty talented writer... but you've made your character very un-fun to write in a lot of ways; I can understand your irritation, and I apologize for mis-representing your character, but a heel that doesn't cheat is just a face who's stuck up... and it's bad enough that your character essentially has a glass jaw. It's hard to write a winning match against a heel who doesn't cheat and can't take any punishment without making the character look bad, especially when that character is a former World Heavyweight Champion.
  17. Nice gesture on O'Neal's part.
  18. Call me a fuddy-duddy (or whatever the term is nowadays), but I'm of the opinion that if you have to be in an altered state of mind to appreciate an artist's music, then it isn't very good music.
  19. I like the format; has an old school feel to it... (Y) I have to agree with Judge about the ME, though; not at least announcing the main event makes Smarkdown look like a house show.
  20. You guys know what I'm talking about, right? The "parent" folder for this one? Has a bunch of threads in it that have nothing to do with the SWF? Why is it there?
  21. Well... that was embarrassing... But, on the bright side, at least the Lakers are losing, and the Timberwolves lost, again. Boy, Garnett has to be ready to snap somebody's neck by now...
  22. I'm calling gimmick infringement.
  23. I finally got a chance to go through this thread over the course of a long duty day... The post about Benoit and Woman several pages back got me thinking a great deal about relationships in wrestling. For example, I remember back before WM XX, when somebody asked in the WWE folder whether or not there was any potential for Jericho to have secretly been dating Trish, a question which was promptly shot down (and ridiculed all around). Personally, however, while I didn't actually believe that anything was going between them, to me, it wasn't even remotely the most unlikely thing that ever could have happened... especially considering some of the relationships in wrestling past. Just a couple off the top of my head include: - Nancy Sullivan (Woman) leaving Kevin Sullivan to be with Chris Benoit. - Jeanie Adams (Lady Blossom) leaving Chris Adams to be with Steve Austin. - Triple H leaving Joanie Laurer (Chyna) to be with Stephanie McMahon. With all that in mind, I actually have quite a few relationship questions: 1 - Sherri Martel was aligned with a number of men, including: Honky Tonk Man (as Peggy Sue... or so I read), Randy Savage, Ted DiBiase, Shawn Michaels, and Colonel Robert Parker, among others. Did she ever have an off-camera relationship with anyone in the business? If so, did she ever date anyone that she was managing at the time? 2- I'm reasonably certain that Dustin and Terri Runnels were married when they came to the WWF as Goldust and Marlena in '95. Did they get married before or after the York Foundation? 2a - Dustin quit/was fired from the WWF in early '99, if I remember correctly, while Terri alligned herself with Val Venis, and later went on to form PMS with Jacqueline. Were she and Dustin divorced before or after this happened? 3 - I've read rumors that there is/was heat between Jeff Jarrett and Steve Austin over Debra McMichael. Did she ever actually date Jarrett after she left Steve McMichael, or were they just close? 4 - Did Woman actually leave Kevin Sullivan for Benoit while that storyline was happening, or was it after the fact? 4a - I seem to remember, in the aftermath of the aforementioned angle, Kevin Sullivan alligning himself with Jacqueline (I don't remember whether or not she actually called herself Jacqueline in WCW), and subsequently cutting a slightly "out-there" promo where, at one point, he appeared to be talking to his daughter, saying something like "I didn't raise you that way." Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and if so, has that promo ever been transcribed anywhere? And was the relationship between Sullivan and Jacqueline purely kayfabe? 5 - I have a match on my PC from the "King of the Hill" Tounament at the Rosemont, in '85, where Randy Savage wrestled Dynamite Kid (this was before Savage was pushed to any significant degree). Before the start of the match, Elizabeth gives Savage a peck on the cheek; this struck me as noteworthy because, to the best of my knowledge, the next time Randy and Elizabeth shared a kiss on-camera was at the Match Made in Heaven in '91, despite being married IRL that entire span of time. Were they ever caught kissing on camera at any other point between '85 and '91? 6 - Speaking of Elizabeth, how soon after her divorce from Savage did she get involved with Lex Luger? And, have Savage and Luger ever confronted each other since her death? 7 - Back to the subject of PDA, I remember when Triple H won the World Title from Mankind the night after Summerslam; immediately after the pinfall, Chyna rushed into the ring to embrace Hunter and give him a kiss (the camera only just barely caught it live, and I don't even know whether or not it was edited out in any replay). Did Hunter and Chyna ever have any other PDA on-camera, and did the WWF even acknowledge them on-camera as having a relationship? 8 - Bob Holly allegedly left his wife to be with Cathy Dingman (BB). Did they ever get married? 9 - How long have Tammy Sytch and Chris Candido been together? Has any other couple in wrestling, that is still together, been together longer?
  24. That can't be right; didn't Rashard Lewis have two back-to-back fifty-point games against the Clippers to start the season? I'm reasonably sure that it was last season; I remember for three reasons: 1) Lewis was the primary scoring option because Ray was injured to start the season (this was, obviously, before Ronald Murray went off), 2) The games were played in Japan, and 3) Bill Walton making the off-hand remark that "Rashard Lewis could average fifty points a game, if he only played the Clippers." Are you saying that Rashard Lewis had two of the only three fifty-point games all of last year? Hell, I remember Jamal Crawford going for fifty, too, while playing in Chicago. That was it?
