In a word? Yes.

I love teale, I really do. There is a beauty to his elocution.

I'm glad that he was tried here in Virginia, because we have absolutely no qualms about killing the bastard. I'd like to do the same to Malvo, but I think he'll manage to escape the needle due to his age.

This is largely true. I'm currently taking an Employment Discrimination class at my law school. The professor actually worked for the NAACP (back when it was still reputable) and saw firsthand cases of true discrimination, and worked on many of them - hell, every now and again he points out one of the cases we're studying in the book as a case on which he worked. When he looks straight at you and nonchalantly states that he cochaired the case - and it's one that was argued before the Supreme Court no less - you're left impressed. This gentleman, who knows far more about the state of racial discrimination in the past and the present than likely ANY of us here do, is of the distinct mindset that companies are, bottom line, amoral entities that are concerned first with making money - and as such, they generally obey the law, as a failure to do so (i.e. violating Title VII or 49 U.S.C. 1981 or any other applicable statute) hurts them financially (through lawsuits and through bad press). Thus, while racial discrimination in employment still exists in some respects, companies are far more often in today's culture to NOT engage in racially discriminatory practices, or to correct any that they find to exist. As for racial profiling - I think Carlos Mencia said it best. "They shouldn't call it racial profiling......they should call it, "Guys who look like you do this a LOT.' " I'm with Mike - it's a necessary evil. This is not to say that violations don't occur, as they clearly do (in some areas - like Baltimore - they occur with far more frequency), but overall it's a system that does have its uses, as distasteful as it may be to admit that.

Empowered? I think it's more likely that blacks are amused than empowered - they supposedly have an inferior culture than does "white America" and yet the children of white America spend most of their time and money trying to act and speak like the bruthas. So it's amusing to them, probably on a couple levels. Wiggers are amusing to me, on the "what a fucking embarrassment" level.

I hate to play devil's advocate here, but if Steph did move to RAW, they could play up the whole Bischoff / Steph kiss from last fall that they never resolved (and, presumably, have completely forgotten about).

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition! That reminds me, I really need to watch "The History of the World, Pt. 1" again soon.

Anyone know how well the book did commercially? I liked the book - I thought Mick stumbled upon some typical first novel problems, but overall I thought he did a fine job, and I would like him to write more - hence my asking if the book was commercially successful.

Is Nathan Jones the worst wrestler ever?
Vyce replied to Use Your Illusion's topic in The WWE Folder
Come now. Was Tiny "Zeus" Lister ever really a true wrestler? Or just an actor temporarily working as a wrestler for a nice paycheck? -
I heard the mention of the Supreme Court today several times, and it just made my blood run cold. I swear to God, I don't want to have to witness the royal bloodbath of a battle it will be if Bush has to try and pass a Supreme Court nominee through this mess.

Excuse me while I weep at the beauty and majesty of DEAN~!

Good point, Buzz. I mean, GOD FORBID Sting try and do something for a guy who he's been friends with - whether you like it or not - the better part of a decade if not LONGER. I didn't want Luger signed, but I can't believe the reaction you people are giving Sting when it's fairly obvious, at least to me, that he did this to help out a friend. All things considered, what he did wasn't that terribly egregious anyway.

I tend to agree with Marney on this. Personally, I had NO problem at all with the monument being there (that's probably where Marney & I differ). But I don't think this is Moore being a martyr for his beliefs. I don't even think this is a *real* issue of the separation of church v. state. I think it's more about Moore manipulating the situation to the very max in order to gain politically. It wouldn't shock me at all to see him run for governor when the time comes - and run on a platform as a man who stands by his beliefs / morals to the bitter end.

To think, we gave up a perfectly good monarchy to come here and create a form of government that's degenerated into petty squabbles such as this.

This is GREAT news. I LOVE the old Hammer films.

CLASSIC. Easily one of my favorite commercials ever. Best part about that commercial - when he's nursing on the teet, check out the wolf pup feeding right in front of him. That cute lil' bugger is going to TOWN. Absolutely adorable. Maybe one of the greatest commercials EVER. I'm a fan of the new GameBoy Advance commercial for Super Mario Advance 4 (Super Mario 3). Cool commercial, good music to go along with it. You can see it here. Oh.....and personally, one of my favorite commercials as a kid was a local commercial here in D.C. for Jhoon Rhee Karate. It had two little Asian kids with thick accents extolling the virtues of knowing karate for self-defense. Asian girl: "Nobody bodda me!" Asian boy: "Nobody bodda me eidda!"

Various Jpop artists. Oh, and 80s new wave. And my friend seems to think I should include my love of Depeche Mode, but I think that's pushing things a bit. I don't feel guilt over loving Mode.

Star Ocean mentioned Kids in the Hall on the first page, and it deserves some love. Probably my favorite sketch comedy show of all time. Yes, even over SNL.

This entire story is too fucking funny.

All of this probably started when someone in WWE management caught a glimpse at Shannon Moore's AWFUL new tattoo. Note to Shannon: big-ass, ugly tattoos don't make girly men look any more butch. That's what did it, I'm convince. It caused them to rethink this entire tattoo thing they had going on.

Oh, my friend, it applies to a much greater number than you're giving credit for.

The latest in a long, bloody tradition of honor killings. Sorry, it's from FAUX.

I STILL REMEMBER Cue killer in Gordon's Fisherman outfit.

The Bud Dwyer video gave me nightmares for a while.

It's been said before, I'll say it again. This whole fucking thread deserves a place in the Classics folder more than any other, perhaps, in the history of this forum.
