  1. Did you see Paris' outfit? I would HOPE that beats out pretty much any politician in the ratings.
  2. Some of you seem to be confusing "We're no safer now than when the War began" with Dean's actual remark, "We're no safer now than when the planes hit the WTC." For the former, you might have a valid argument. For the latter? You'd be completely wrong. As Dean is here.
  3. credit: Fox News A lot of interesting material in this story - the Washington Post had a very similar piece in today's paper - but I focused upon that one remark because it's just so remarkable in its complete and utter idiocy. I've come over to Marney & Mike's side on the guy - Democrats had better pray he doesn't get the nomination. No way in hell is he going to get enough mass appeal from the moderates to win.
  4. They're going to get overturned (again). Trust me - they don't have the authority to place this kind of check on the executive branch.
  5. The WWE picked Bradshaw and Val to do "True and False" because they're well known right-leaning guys. It was just an attempt to further their (the WWE's) agenda. Seeing as the WWE is a private company and in the entertainment (rather than media) business, why shouldn't they be allowed to put forth WHATEVER agenda they wish? Would you have rather they put forth two left-leaning workers for this? Would that have been any less egregious, following your logic? Two things: 1.) There are better uses for your time. 2.) Dude, their partner in the SYV enterprise, if I'm not mistaken, is Russell Simmons - who is most definitely as biased on the opposite spectrum as Vince may be in his own way. Having two workers express their own political views hurts nothing in the long run as people who really care that much about it are too damn sensitive to begin with.
  6. But religion is tied to most people's morality, and when you start deciding that you can't make decisions regarding morality - which the court essentially argued in Lawrence v. Texas - than you run into HUGE moral relativism problems.

  8. That's such bullshit. While I'm sure that Bush has some religious beliefs which strike a very personal core with him - say, against gay marriage or against abortion - he's not some bloody zealot, and portraying him as such is idiotic.

    Gay marriage

I hope you mean "Disliking gays and disliking government-aided same sex relationships aren't mutually exclusive." Because if you mean it in the other way, the stupid apologetic "Oh, I don't hate gay people, I just hate the fact that they're aroused by the same sex" shit that the likes of Falwell use when cornered with the arguement that their opinion excludes and divides, well, I just like to think you don't fall for that. I mean that if someone doesn't approve of gay marriage or civil unions between homosexuals, that doesn't mean that they necessarily disapprove of or dislike gay people in general. JMA, unfortunately, seemed to imply that if you weren't for gay marriage / civil union, than you must hate gays - I don't think that's the case. MANY people in this country dislike gay marriage, many still aren't even crazy about civil unions, but I would doubt that most of them dislike gays.
  10. Hey, I just heard a rumor that Dick Cheny used to run Halliburton? Could this possible be true?!?!?!
  11. Christ, are we on the Bush v. Gore thing AGAIN? Look, ask yourself this question - who's sitting in the White House now? Bush? Or Gore? You know which one is there. It may not be the guy you want, but it's THAT guy, so kindly please quit the bitching because it's IRRELEVANT. Feel free, though, to adopt a "Well, he's not MY president" attitude, though, because that was just as retarded when the Republicans / conservatives did it during the Clinton era.
  12. Labyrinth owns. It's got hot young Jennifer Connolley in it and is some of Bowie's finest work. Plus it's got puppets! And a Bog of Eternal Stench!!!
  13. A better ploy by Bush & co. would be if they know already where the WMD are - and they bust them out right before the election. As for UBL - don't we pretty much KNOW what country he's hiding out in? We just aren't authorized to go in and get him.

    Gay marriage

I voted for gay marriage, although realistically, civil unions is the best option in this day and age. Actually, it depends. You CAN be discriminated against because of sexual orientation, at least in terms of employment, as gays are not afforded the same rights as the rest of us in that regard, and things don't look to be changing anytime soon. Nor should they necessarily have to, any more than those of us who do support gay marriage be forced to defend ours. Than wouldn't it also be fair to say that those who perhaps don't support gay marriage may in fact NOT be people who dislike homosexuals? Disliking gays and disliking same sex relationships aren't mutually exclusive. Part of the rationale - a big part, actually - behind the recent Goodridge v. Dept. of Health decision was that the MA court felt that marriage offered a whole bunch of benefits to individuals that gays are effectively excluded from by being denied marriage rights. The problem I have with the Goodridge case is that it's based so damn much on Lawrence v. Texas - which is an awful, AWFUL decision, even though the result was correct.
  15. Has this been mentioned? Another reported Al Qaeda / Saddam link. Unfortunately it's from a British newspaper, which I don't entirely trust, but this seems like something that, you know, we should be investigating.
  16. Yes, that's not fair - many on the left, perhaps most, are pleased with Saddam's capture. So, perhaps amend your remark to "the far left"?
  17. It seems most of these men have absolutely nothing to do with Saddam Hussein. They're poorly organized and are far from Al-Qaeda standards. Direct threat, my ass. Wow. This thread has REALLY brought out the bitterness in you.
  18. Well, in all fairness, I don't think any of us predicted this time back year that he'd hold the belt for nine fucking months either.
  19. I honestly didn't think they'd put the title back on HHH what with him going to be gone most of the month to film his movie. I honestly didn't. Maybe I'm just a very, very stupid optimist.
  20. Doesn't the douche have some rotting meat to approve for children's consumption or something? I took a knee. Post of the day.
  21. There's your caveat - at the "outbreak". The other armies likely dwarved it as soon as the first conscriptions began.
  22. You'd be discovered in about half a minute. Every single Canadian has the ability to smell a dirty Yankee a kilometre away. Given the amount of French & French descendants in Canada, I'd say we Yanks would conquer you in about 3 days. That's right, I made a French joke. What are YOU going to do about it, JMA?!?!?!
  23. Any film that the WWE ultimately creates will be forced straight to fucking video.
  24. It's really more like we just don't fucking care.
  25. People do realize that Christmas, outside of the religious connotations, has essentially become a SECULAR holiday as well? They realize that, don't they? ......Don't they?!?! Someone please inform the atheists & other denominations that, despite all of the negative aspects of Christianity, those who practice it still have basic natural and constitutional rights.
