whoooooooooa let's not go crazy now. Who do you think is prettier? IMO, Victoria. It was the first thing that sprang to my mind, actually.

Should I be dismayed by this news? Israel is the only country in that entire portion of the WORLD who would be responsible with nukes.

Dude, it's mainstream to YOU. Walk onto any city street and ask 10 random people, and if more than perhaps one of them claimed to be familiar with any of the bands you listed I'd be shocked. It may be "radio-friendly" but most people don't know what the fuck "Finger Eleven" is nor have any desire to.

I still don't understand the Silverman thing. If the guy was paying for his own ticket, what did it matter? I would have told them all to fuck off.

When did Anglesault get back? Where the hell have you been?!

That's far from certain. Germany's forces were tired and weary and running out of steam, but by 1917 Russia was out of the War (thus, for the most part, eliminating most of the threat on the Eastern Front) and France was in SHAMBLES. There was a MASSIVE drop in morale of the French army to the point that there soldiers were mutinying or just plain refusing to fight anymore. That left the burden on England, and it could fight only so long as it had the resources to do so - and if Germany had been allowed to implement it's plan for unrestricted submarine warfare (which they had already decided to do), Britain would have been starved into surrender in a matter of months. It was the U.S. that put a stop to the submarine warfare and helped turn the tide in favor of the Entente by providing the one thing that they sorely needed: troops. Men willing to fight. When Pershing arrived, Haig & Petain wanted the troops more than nothing. He was literally told: "Never mind the guns, never mind the transport. We'll provide them. Only bring your young soldiers over to fill our thin ranks. The fate of France and of the war is at stake." Without American troops to fill in the gap, things looked bleak for the Entente, even with Germany in the shape that it was. It was Germany's fault. The conflict that started all of this (Ferdinand's assassination by men with ties to the Serbian government) could have been localized into a war between Serbia & Austria-Hungary, but Germany used the incident as an excuse to implement plans for war which they had devised a full DECADE before it started. To be harsh upon them, they were warmongering bastards. Their goal all along was to add to the empire through conquest. I agree and disagree with this. WWII was, to some extent, about WWI, but I think it has slightly less to do with German hard-feelings over how they were treated after the war but rather they wanting revenge for the humiliation of actually losing the conflict, which plays in to the whole German supremacy you talk about.

Yeah, but that whole "dying for the sins of the world" and "love thine enemies" thing turned him face. That whole tortured by the Romans and crucified thing really made him Ricky Morton before Ricky Morton was Ricky Morton, you know?

They gave a 3.6 to that? THAT?!?!?! None of this bodes well. I'm going to go retreat into a dark corner and cradle myself in my arms.
-
You liked the ending of that? THAT? Please be ashamed of yourself. I don't feel like being ashamed for you.

Why should we have never entered WWI? We contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to the defeat of the Central Powers. Germany was running out of steam rapidly but it's unlikely France (who's army fell apart in 1917 and, IMO, never recovered - even to this day) would have held its part of the Western Front and that essentially meant the entire weight of the war would have rested on Britain's shoulders (and it has carried it, at that point, for far too long).

I'm still waiting for someone to bag a Chupacabra.

I have to admitt I'm much less interested in him since his return. He's been booked somewhat poorly, true, but he hasn't exactly offered anything to make me stand up and notice. To one of the above poster's comments, though, I have to say this: I HIGHLY doubt that Rhyno carried Jericho in a match.

I agree, I think I'd mark a bit to see Quaid as Gordon. Malkovich wasn't really someone I had in mind for Ghul, but I think he could make it work. I'm not displeased with either of these choices, should they indeed be made.

Random Vyce idiosyncrasy: After reading several Holmes stories over the past few weeks, I am seriously considering taking up pipe-smoking. It just seems so much more distinguished than chain smoking cigarettes.

I'll stick to my usual diet of dining upon the blood of a virgin, thank you.

TIME Exclusive: A source inside the compound says that Arafat is believed to be suffering from stomach cancer With our luck, they'll find a cure for cancer tomorrow. Hmm, how long before the Palestinians / Muslim world find a way to blame this upon the Jews?

I simply MUST hold office as "Minister of Disinformation". Can I wear jackboots? Please tell me I can wear jackboots.

Catholic Church to Africa: Don't use condoms
Vyce replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Yes, this is correct. HIV IS smaller than sperm. Telling them not to use a condom, though, is just insanity. Marney - you should audition to become a writer of Jack Chick tracts. -
About a decade ago BBC Radio did ALL of the canon stories with full cast dramatization. I STRONGLY recommend any Holmes fan find copies of these (they're available for purchase on audiocassette). You can buy them on the Amazon's UK site, this I know. They're incredible. Brilliant work, if you ask me.

Probably not dead, but hold a mirror up to his nose and see if it fogs. That always worked with Grandma.

Fred Phelps to put anti-gay monument @ public park
Vyce replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Boy is Phelps going to be surprised when he dies, goes to hell, and gets sodomized by rather well-endowed black men for all eternity. Or at least, that's my own personal fantasy. -
I wonder if I could spare us all the trouble and just arrange to have the bastard shivved in the showers. Gotta go make some phone calls.....

Jesus fucking Christ. You're all a bunch of fucking children. If Jesus and Charles Darwin were alive today, they would, respectively, kick all of your impudent fucking asses.

Matt Drudge is reporting the results as being: Drudge Report 59% YES on the Recall 51% Arnold 30% Bustamante 13% McClintock Now, the polls have not yet closed (they will shortly), and this is Drudge we're talking about, but presuming that his numbers aren't outrageously erroneous, it appears that Arnold will be the next governor of the State of California. Unless, of course, the ACLU and God knows who else file lawsuits to the contrary.

OReilly: Media shouldn't support candidates
Vyce replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Don't blame kkk. Criticism of Fox had been so consistent and, shall I say, rampant, on this board by certain individuals that it became cliche long before he introduced his amusing little joke.
