Paris Hilton going to jail (for 3 days)
BruiserKC replied to Atticus Chaos's topic in Television & Film
My God...Paris is probably going to get seasick from all the bouncing around she's doing. -
WWE should do something like this for a regular/cable show during the week with Classic matches...would definitely be a build-up for fans to order 24/7. Plus give some of the oldschool folks like myself a chance to enjoy blasts from the past.

The fact that Taz and Joey Styles mentioned that they wished RVD the best on his condition makes me believe RVD is re-signing after his time off. Why else would they say anything at all...otherwise RVD would not be brought up at all, IMO.

Paris Hilton going to jail (for 3 days)
BruiserKC replied to Atticus Chaos's topic in Television & Film
How many of us would be getting that courtesy if we went to jail for 45 days. I know for me the prison guards would tell me to shut the hell up or they'll crack my skull in. How many kneepads did Paris wear out to get this done? -
Anyone here had the chance to listen to Dennis Miller's show? I've been listening for a while now and I really like what he does. He doesn't go down on one side or the other but takes a shit on everyone equally.

This will test the Commish on his no-tolerance policy. You know he wants this to go away but he might have to lay the smack down on him. If he comes down hard, Goodell has some serious cred. If Vick gets off with a slap on the wrist, then it won't mean a thing. I think though right now he's waiting to see if there is enough for the police to come forward and arrest Vick and prosecute. He needs to make sure Vick's caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

123a. Especially holds true in a title match where the challenger is going for the pin and the announcer says, "We're going to have a new champion."

I have a different theory on the Invasion angle. I have come to believe that the Invasion wasn't a botched angle. It was deliberately booked the way it was to make WCW look second-rate. Vince had no intention of making the WCW wrestlers look good, nor the ECW for that matter. Vince had a grueling battle with Ted Turner and very nearly saw the WWF/E go belly-up. This wasn't business...this was personal. I remember the promo Vince cut on the night RAW and Nitro simulcast him. To me it spoke true that he was going to put WCW on the shelf and let it sit. The way the whole thing was set up made WCW look second-rate from the start. When he put the ECW wrestlers in with them, it was something of a back-handed slap to WCW in saying that even EC Dub was superior to them as far as they were what kept the Invasion afloat. If Vince had truly wanted to make the Invasion work...he would have signed the NWO, Goldberg, Steiner, etc. But he had no intention of doing so as far as I can see...and it also showed that when he did bring them in he just clobbered them. The NWO raised hell and very nearly took over WCW...it was pretty much single-handedly defeated in the WWF by Rock and Austin. Goldberg was booked by WCW as an unstoppable monster...Linda McMahon referred to him as a disappointment at a board of directors meeting and that was before Goldberg won the RAW World title. Vince did a slash and burn for almost 20 years to pretty much be the only game in town...if anyone thought he was going to give any props to anyone else along the way for giving him a run for their money they were out of their mind.

The Biggest Disgrace of the 21st Century
BruiserKC replied to Big Ol' Smitty's topic in Current Events
And funny how it ends up working out...we end up getting shit on for it. Even when we're asked to help. I remember a few years ago we were asked to intervene down in Haiti...begged practically by the UN and the rest of the world. We get their dictator out of there before he gets killed...and how are we thanked? By him telling the world we kidnapped him and the rest of the world taking a dump on us as well. If we don't get involved...we're the selfish superpower that is only in it for our own welfare and don't care about the underprivileged. If we get involved, we're the selfish superpower that can't mind our own business. I think the simple solution is if the world doesn't want us involved in other's affairs is we pull out of the UN. End all diplomatic relations and cut off all financial aid to the countries that want nothing to do with us anymore. Let them sort out their own problems. -
Vic Mackie...although it's very close.

Another aspect of the fake outrage that interests me with this whole ordeal. The outrage didn't just pile up right away, it slowly gained momentum and seemed contrived to me. When Rush Limbaugh made his comments about Donovan McNabb a few years ago, the outrage was instant. Ditto when Tim Hardaway said that he would never accept a gay teammate. The women's tournament ended a week ago and we're only now supposed to be offended? Yes, what Imus said was stupid, but it would seem to me the outrage should have been instant for it to mean anything. It's like the Simpsons episode when someone calls Homer slow and by the time he figures out what to be pissed off about the party was long since over.

These days, almost anytime Mike Shannon (radio color man for the Cardinals) is behind the mic. He'll bust out laughing at the most inopportune times...like if John Rooney is calling a Pujols home-run Shannon will chuckle as the ball leaves the yard.

Not to mention the UN simply seems to blame the US and Israel for all the world's problems and would rather see us neutered and Israel pushed into the sea. I think it's time to take a stand against Iran...even if the rest of the world doesn't have the guts to. Maybe Iraq was fucked up...but I'd rather not see a nuclear Iran where "Death To America" is as popular a slogan as "Where's the Beef" was here.

"Click Click Boom" by Saliva for Survivor Series 2001 was also a good one...ditto with Shinedown's "I Dare You" for WM 22

I'd keep the IC and US titles separate...merge the World and the tag titles. You can keep some wrestlers exclusive to specific shows, but the World champion should float among all three shows. Perhaps bring in a TV title also...with the old stipulation back in the day where the champ defends the belt every time he wrestles on TV.

TNA stupidity so great it warrants its own thread
BruiserKC replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
Apparently they fixed the glitch in the system...I didn't receive my check this week. Do I need to talk to payroll? Seriously...sounds like Cornette and company need to realize that if they want to be one of the big boys, they have to take the criticism that goes with it. The idea of Vince conspiring to bring TNA down is ridiculous. -
It was obvious Henderson was going to clobber Hansbrough. Stevie Wonder could have seen that. As for the ACC lovefest...Billy Packer and Duke Vitale both probably secretly long for being gang-banged by all the ACC coaches, especially Coach K and Roy. Then again, I better qualify it as I'm a diehard Jayhawks fan and still bitter of the way Roy left a few years ago. He is still a traitor in my eyes and in the eyes of many in Jayhawk nation. But I don't think Roy really did anything wrong keeping Hansbrough in the game. It was like when Billy Tubbs used to say, "If I called off the dogs, then I'm accused of shaving points."

When last season ended...I was under the impression that the new season would start in Jan '07. Now "Dirt" has debuted in the timeslot reserved normally for "The Shield." Was I wrong or is there something going on?

RIP Awesome...his matches with Tanaka were classics. Curious...how was Awesome related to Hogan?

Sad but unfortunately true. Hell...going back to high school and college...I played soccer and baseball in HS and college. In the locker room, being called a fag was the norm. It was all about being as macho and manly as possible. However, it will depend on the player that is still actively playing who chooses to come out of the closet. If he's an All-Star, he's going to be supported. If he's a third-string defensive back or 12th man on the basketball team, his career is pretty much over.

Well this one went way over your head. Ouch. Amazed how someone who added so little to society gets so much coverage Paris Hilton...enough said.

I'd put Flair vs. HHH on the list...it was an electric evening and the way they played it out in Flair country you knew that if somehow Flair had won the title they would have blown the roof off. Heyman's shoot on McMahon also...every word rang true. Angle vs. Benoit when Angle did the moonsault off the top of the cage.
