Sorry for the auto-draft, guys. I had to fill in for someone at work and I missed everything.
-
As a note, Tenay, Dory Funk, Meltzer and Alvarez all agreed that the only "gimme" on the ballot this year was Helmsley.
-
Kristal fucking sucked. She had the charisma of a alumininum bat, not to mention average looks and an annoying voice. To put it bluntly, no redeeming qualities.

Quote of the month.

I'd keep Boldin. Kurt Warner + Dennis Green = mind-boggling numbers for the receivers.
-
The Yankees were swept in their lone series against the Royals this season.
-
Make that just Benson.

Good god, I just realized that their "lights out" match = dark match. The writers can't be THAT stupid to not know the meaning of a "dark" match... can they? No wonder Meltzer laughed.

I get your point, but is an Ebert review going to sway people from seeing this film? Even if he loved the movie, I still wouldn't see it. The fact that squashing a quasi-feud between Rob fucking Schneider and a critic whose claim to fame is an internet award, seemed more entertaining to Ebert to write about than bashing the film itself, is the point of this review.

Rey Mysterio's son suffering "emotional distress"

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. -
IIRC, Hogan beat Angle to decide who would face Lesnar for his Undisputed Title shot before Summerslam.
-
Was there an explanation or offical match/angle that led to Bret Hart being named No. 1 contender for Taker's title at Summerslam 1997?

Why do they keep blaming Bischoff for WCW failing?

Based on what we had seen, booking Goldberg in the way that they did from Goldberg/Raven up until Starrcade was the only way that he could've cracked the top tier of the company. No way would've he had made it to Starrcade to face Hogan with his heat intact. Now, I don't have a recollection of who was booking at that time, but don't you think that someone would've sabotaged his heat just so they could get over? Goldberg didn't headline a pay-per-view as champ until Halloween Havoc, which is ridiculous seeing as that he had been the Undisputed champion for almost four months. And even then, the match wasn't even shown to nearly all of the country because the rest of the card (or to be exact, the Hall/Nash circle jerk and the fact that WCW booked TWELVE MATCHES) went too long. He wasn't the focus of the company until it was time for him to lose at Starrcade, which is ass-backwards booking at its finest. Giving it away at the time they did was bad, since it was overshadowed by the Hogan/DDP angle, but it would've been overshadowed no matter when you booked it. If it was on pay-per-view, would Hogan have jobbed clean? Fuck no. He didn't do that the year before at Starrcade, where they had the chance to stay one step ahead of the WWF and when it was completely obvious to anyone who followed the business that Sting should've won that match squeaky clean. Losing to Nash was fine. The fingerpoke of doom was bad, but it led to a good confrontation with Goldberg that had the whole crowd dying for Goldberg to just MURDER Hogan, Nash, Hall and Steiner. It's what they did with Goldberg after the second Georgia Dome show that killed him. They completely no-sold a money angle (Goldberg v. the reformed nWo) for the sake of one-upping Vince with Big Show, Flair/Hogan for two consecutive shows, then giving the belt to Diamond Dallas Page a year too late, when for some god-awful reason the fans still believed that Goldberg deserved the belt. -
Same here. Time is good too.

I'd like the Bulls to have Finley for the year or two (if he wants a short-term contract), but he's not going to be much of a contribution if Basden, Pargo, Duhon, Hinrich and Gordon are there. Now, if we don't match the Raptor's offer sheet, Finley would serve well to start at the 2, since Gordon feels comfortable coming off the bench. Basically, it all comes down to Finley or Duhon.

The suns traded players for nothing to create the space to resign Johnson. The only reason they didn't is because when they called him to tell him that they were going to match, he told them not to, and that he wanted to go to the hawks. They didn't want to spend 70 mil on a player that didn't want to be there, so they said okay. Now, if they don't like the deal that the Hawks are offering (Belklin ACTUALLY believes the suns should take Boris Diaw for Joe Johnson) they will definately resign him and I wouldn't be suprised if they traded him to Dallas for Finley. They are planning on trading him because other teams are offering. If the Hawks are gambling on them not matching, they are definately going to lose. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay. I totally blanked out on what would happen if the Hawks completely gave up on the deal. Doh.

From what I've read up on regarding public domain, the lists are usually hard to acquire for Joe Schmo, which makes it hard to even identify the royalty-free music in the first place. Not to mention that we always assumed several entrance themes were public domain, but it may just fall under the "Fair Use" exception. For example, the Harlem Heat theme was always considered public domain, but WWE substituted it for a few home video releases in 2003, which means it is copyrighted by someone somewhere. Was it free to to WCW, while the WWE pays a fee to use it? It's hard to know. My best bet is to purchase a PC Audio Compostion or PC Artists magazine which comes with a DVD-rom full of royalty-free music (500+ songs or so). I see those all over the newsstands, but they're utterly useless to anyone NOT in this situation.

Ooh, Oxycotton Bowl rematch to start the season. 1. #5 LSU (teke) 2. Rutgers (the pinjockey) 3. Texas A&M (Secret Agent) 4. Ohio State (Gert T) 5. San Diego State (Porter) 6. #7 Stanford (Bored) 7. #3 UCLA (phoenixrising) 8. #8 Hawaii (Will Scarlet) 9. USC (Cartman) 10. Arizona State (Spicy McHaggis) 11. #9 Oregon (nogoodnick) 12. #1 Minnesota (Vern Gagne) 13. Connecticut (DragonLordKalba) Man, the Pac-10 is going to be a bitch to get out of unscathed. Good luck to everyone - this is going to rock.

Is it worth the trouble to use public domain music, or is researching whether it IS public domain going to be a hassle either way? i.e. Hardy Boys, Booker, etc.? EDIT: That's cool, Mike. I'll stream it later tonight since my 56K is acting wonky (only seven more days to tolerate this)...
-
EDIT: Damn, I misunderstood what Belkin wanted. He seems to be the lone owner that understands that the Suns won't re-sign JJ for that kind of money no matter Johnson wants.
-
Weren't they always announced as French-Canadians from Quebec? As CC said, when Dupree went to Smackdown, he was from France.
-
Don't they still have to order the event, then get the fee knocked off of the month's cable bill? Umm, I'm not sure of whether the giveaway factors into the buyrates or not. ...and whoever said Batista isn't a draw is kidding themselves. The fact that this shitty card (even without looking at the booking aspect of it) still did around 220,000 buys is a miracle in itself.
-
Anyone else thinking of getting in on this? I'd have to devote about two weeks solely to these matches, but it should be pretty interesting throughout.
-
Edit the Orton match because it is a mystery opponent.
