Rey is almost comparable to Eddie in heat, which would assuage the turn - Tajiri, at that point and at ANY point in his career, wasn't as over as Eddie was in June of 2003. Plus, the heel turn then wasn't ever taken in a serious manner - he hugged his car afterwards and played to the crowd, for instance. When Tajiri left for a short period of time, the announcers acted as if it was "good ole Eddie" back to his old persona.

edit: Beaten to the punch.

According to a few writers covering the story (interviewed by PTI and ESPN), the real snafu in the agreement wasn't the amount of the cap - it was the salary floor. The players wanted a $25 million floor, while the owners offered.... ...well, if you guessed absolutely nothing, you are correct.

Wayne Gretzky is coming back to lead the Invasion.

Supposedly, it's directly from Mitch Kupchak, but he's "handcuffed" on what he can say at the moment. EDIT: ...and Haley said that it would go down as soon as this weekend.

Jack Haley on FSN's "Southern California Sports Report" rumored at a possible trade involving the Lakers, with as much as three Lakers involved, that will bring a big-name star to L.A. "that will make an impact that will take the Lakers to the playoffs". Any guesses? I say Baron.

Fucking A. I've caught myself humming that tune for the past week or so, since my non-TSM roommate purchased the first season on DVD.

The news comes from the band themselves... Link to the Motorhead announcement... Discuss. EDIT: And yes, I'm too lazy to refer to the character map.
-
Trust me. They never played on RAW. A RAW show with Motorhead playing would have most of this board creaming themselves, ala their performance at Wrestlemania X-7. Taking into account that THAT performance is still talked about fondly to this day (arguably the best single entrance in wrestling history), I'd be surprised to see that we glossed over their RAW performance.

They played Evolution to the ring on Raw once. That's news to me. ...that's because it never happened.

The Kryptonite Krunch off the top of the house has to be the dumbest *planned* spot in the history of wrestling and its incarnates. EDIT: Look at the reaction of Cole and Tazz during the botched F-5 on A-Train -- Cole puts his hands behind his head, while Tazz looks down with his face buried in his hands. They were DEFINITELY fearing the worst. EDIT #2: Jackie Gayda needs to get back into a wrestling ring, STAT. Her ability to throw herself all over the ring without any provocation is an potential asset to the company.

Any leagues opening up this year, or dead teams from last year that will need an owner?
-
EDIT: My bad. Kiper dropped Miller to the 30th pick (Steelers) in his mock draft last week. He has the Jets taking Carlos Rogers (CB) from Auburn.

EDIT.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1991595 Nets acquire Clifford Robinson from Golden State in exchange for two second-rounders (pick #1 is 2005 draft via Clippers in Kittles trade, pick #2 is 2007) and a $5.3 million trade exception.

You also assumed that Angle can come back from full-blown surgery. He can't.
-
EDIT: Nevermind. You were referring to more surgery for Angle. The suggested surgery for Angle in 2003 would've ended his career. Any present surgery would be of the same consequence.

Finally, if anyone has covered this argument ad nauseum, it's Dave Meltzer. Someone just e-mail him with the link to this thread, then ask for his opinion. Regardless of the concrete evidence he does or does not have, the questions about the footage would be laid to rest.

I had hopes of seeing Legler and Anthony in the competition as well, where they all competed for the two jobs available. EDIT: My money's on Bullard.

When you held the "CTL" button down, you probably scrolled your mouse wheel up and down -- this will adjust the size of the text on a webpage or document.

Martha Hart saying SHE has the only copy of the accident should be disregarded, due to the extreme circumstances of what happened. It's not that she would lie, but it's implausible to assume she KNOWS she has the only copy. A legal document couldn't be drawn up to support this, for fear that the courts would've gotten ahold of the document. Sure, nothing has been leaked about the whereabouts of the actual footage - then again, who, in the tight circle of production people working under Vince, actually knew what happened to it? Kevin Dunn? Tom Pritchard? Are any of them NOT in a position of power within the company? The point is, there's a SMALL group of people who'd know the definitive steps of where the footage went, and even then, they would've been stopped by Vince as soon as they questioned his intentions. The thread is about what Vince has access to. Guys, the point of this thread has been exhausted. Now it's just degenerating into insults based on pure speculation by anyone not named Vince McMahon or Martha Hart. Finally, if anyone has covered this argument ad nauseum, it's Dave Meltzer. Someone just e-mail him with the link to this thread, then ask for his opinion. Regardless of the concrete evidence he does or does not have, the questions about the footage would be laid to rest.

I don't know what to think of the decision to giving Ray Charles the top two awards tonight. If the album is in fact better than the other nominees, they need to seperate the sentiment away from the accomplishment, because it degrades the award further than it already has been. ...in any event, Kanye West should've won "Best New Artist" and "Song of the Year".

Prediction for Destination X main event: Jarrett and TAFKA Gunn win, align themselves with a heel-turned 3 Live Kru to leech off their heat, which sets up: Jarrett/Outlaws/Killings/Konnan v. Nash/Hall/X-Pac/Rhodes/Rhodes ...at their next PPV, which, in a mysterious turn of events, will not be broadcast on pay-per-view.

The WWF's Stone Cold gimmick was birthed only a few weeks after Hall first showed up on Nitro.
