BoboBrazil Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 This is going to be sweet. WWE should hype him up like a new wrestler and show a few weeks of vignettes.
Guest tigerdrivah91 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I always loved that character. One of my faves in WcW
BoboBrazil Posted August 13, 2003 Author Report Posted August 13, 2003 He wrestled a dark match at Smackdown vs a jobber.
Guest Army Eye Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Wow.. interesting. I liked Mortis but, I don't get why the WWE doesn't realize that the Kanyon character is a brilliant mid-card heel if you don't bury him by jobbing him to Orlando Jones and Funaki. But Is this is the only way Kanyon gets a push then, so be it.
geniusMoment Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 OMG this can only mean one thing... The reformation of the Flock. Next week they will show raven back at mommies with the drunk and the porn star. His strange fetish with a drug abusing Scotsman will leave the world wondering whats next for this deranged individual.
King Cucaracha Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I'm all for a Flock reformation. Or was. Hell, just get all the misguided gimmicks together and push them. New Dungeon of Doom...Mortis, Doink...I'm sure Tenta would come back with one of his gimmicks. Hey, maybe they could give Kidman back the gimmick he can pull off...weird guy who itches himself a lot. RATINGS~!
Guest Space_Cowboy Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Because jobbing as plain old Kanyon wasn't good enough, now he gets to job under his old gimmick as well.
Guest Trivia247 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 heh the return of the gothic movement... Mortis, Gangrel, Mideon, Viscera, Jason the Terrible, the Gravekeeper, but not the Undertaker since he don't like dat shit no mo...even though it made him millions
Zack Malibu Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 It's probably more of a marketing ploy than anything. Just like how they made Rey put the mask on...they'll try to make Mortis into the new Kane so the fans (especially the younger set) eat it up.
Spaceman Spiff Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I'm torn. He obviously won't be able to use his "Who betta?" catchphrase, but if he ends up getting a push I can deal w/ it. Wow.. interesting. I liked Mortis but, I don't get why the WWE doesn't realize that the Kanyon character is a brilliant mid-card heel if you don't bury him by jobbing him to Orlando Jones and Funaki Exactly. But he's a WCW buy-out guy, and as such will get treated like a 2nd class citizen.
Zack Malibu Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Watch, he'll probably still wind up on Velocity, retreading his feud with The Cat. Then when snow falls in the arena and Blood Runs Cold videos start playing, we'll know the apocalypse is upon us.
Crimson Platypus Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 They should sign what's his name that was Wraith also and put that tag team back together!
Cran Da Maniac Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 They should sign what's his name that was Wraith also and put that tag team back together! They signed him, but he sucked so bad that they wanted to send him to OVW. He balked and quit
LaParkaYourCar Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 So I guess this means the monk that he's been seeing is his old manager from when he was Mortis? I don't know because I never saw any of the monk vignettes.
Spaceman Spiff Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 So I guess this means the monk that he's been seeing is his old manager from when he was Mortis? I don't know because I never saw any of the monk vignettes. Well, James Vandenburg was his manager, and I doubt they've signed him. And the monk "vignettes" weren't really vignettes. Kanyon did a couple quick promos before a couple matches, and that was the extent of it.
Guest BDC Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 BTW, Brian Clarke's in-ring name was Wrath, not Wraith
cawthon777 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Shouldn't there be some kind of *spoiler* warning to go with this thread?
Guest BDC Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Spoiler? for the fact that he was sighted fighting a jobber in a dark match? I think not.
bob_barron Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I hope this isn't true. Kanyon has so much charisma that it's pointless to hide him under a mask. It's a shame Vince didn't notice the 'Let's Go Kanyon' chants at MSG
Guest bort Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 i dont care, if it get kanyon on tv im all for it
razazteca Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Mortis can be the super villian to the SHIT.
Zack Malibu Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 It's a shame Vince didn't notice the 'Let's Go Kanyon' chants at MSG Even if he did notice, he wouldn't care. Benoit got a standing ovation at the Rumble, and was mired in the midcard Rhyno angle that went nowhere until the US Title finals. We know Vince is out of touch, but it's like beating a dead horse.
Ripper Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I read somewhere about how Kanyon trained wrestlers that made it in the business while he was still trying to make his big break. Who has he trained?
Guest Eagan469 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I read somewhere about how Kanyon trained wrestlers that made it in the business while he was still trying to make his big break. Who has he trained? Kidman Jay Leno probably more I can't think of right now
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I hope this isn't true. Kanyon has so much charisma that it's pointless to hide him under a mask. It's a shame Vince didn't notice the 'Let's Go Kanyon' chants at MSG Does Rey Mysterio lack charisma because he is behind a mask? Quit trying to sound so smart, Bob - you only look foolish.
Guest Eagan469 Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I agree with Banky. Kanyon's done all he could as himself, and that doesn't amount to much. The man needs a gimmick.
bob_barron Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Look at Rey's mask. Look at Mortis' mask. Rey got over by doing 6-1-9s and other crazy cruiserweight stuff. He would still be over without wearing the mask. With Kanyon wearing the mask- He won't be nearly as over as he could be by just letting his natural personalty shine through
