notJames Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 From 411Mania.com: Tommy Dreamer pinned Jimmy Yang in a great match. Huge pop for Dreamer. Dreamer won with the evenflow DDT and Yang sold it "RVD" style, as he got planted on his head and did a headstand for want seemed like 4-5 seconds. Awesome. Wasn't Yang originally one of the many pickups from the wCw buyout? I wonder if this is a proper tryout. Lord knows SD! needs more talented Japanese cruiserweights to bury in the name of Undertaker's push for SurSer.
Downhome Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 He was from WCW, but I don't know if WWE signed him with the buyout. Something tells me to say they didn't. From what I know, he's been in Japan for a while now working.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 He was a part of the buyout.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 depending on which Indi company Yang was wrestling for when the WWE rolled into town. Dark Matches usually intells wrestlers from the local feds....even Velocity and Heat get some indi's here and there for squash matches
Spaceman Spiff Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Are you sure Yang was a buy-out guy? Kaz Hayashi was, but I don't think Yang was. I could be wrong, though.
ISportsFan Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I'm pretty sure Yang and Hayashi were both buyout guys. Jason
dpac Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I am pretty sure that Yang was not part of the buyout. He however was in TNA and was released because he would not sign a one night contract.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Yang was a buy out but he didn't last long and was released.
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Yang went to HWA and then was released.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Dammit...why couldn't that be on Heat??? That could have possibly been my last time of seeing him on tv. Better yet it should have been on Velocity.... have Yang vs. Noble with Cat on commentary. Would have been great!....for old times sake.
notJames Posted September 2, 2003 Author Report Posted September 2, 2003 Speaking of which, where is the third Yung Dragon, Kaz Hayashi? I would assume he's off in Japan doing his thing.
Steviekick Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 I'm pretty sure Kaz is off in Japan.
Guest bort Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 kaz is in all japan, hes pretty much main eventing down there, i see him in alot of tags match with koji, he got longer hair now
EL DANDY~! Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 Yang and Hayashi are both working for All Japan and are rivals. Yang has made more runs back to the US to do some indy dates, and he's still a hot commodity. Hayashi usually tags with Satoshi Kojima, and Yang usually tags with Mike Awesome or somebody else.
Ultra Violence Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 is yang any good? I have never seen him wrestle
Guest Coffey Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 He's decent. Sometimes he gets way ahead of himself which causes miscommunication and botched spots. Kindof like Amazing Red in that department. Jimmy Yang is an oriental Cruiserweight. He is talented, but he needs to find the proper pace to his matches. He was in the Young Dragons in WCW. His finisher is "Yang Time" which he never seems to hit correctly. I believe he was one of the " Flying Elvis' " in NWA:TNA as well. Real name: James Yang Height: 5'9" Weight: 185 lbs. Date of birth: May 13, 1981 Born: Hollywood, CA Hometown: Austell, GA Pro debut: April 1999 Trained at: WCW Power Plant Finishing move: Yang Time
JustJoe2k5 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Not too long ago when Amazing Red and Super Dragon were in Japan, Kaz Hayashi and Jimmy Yang teamed up to face them in a tag match. God that match must have ruled all.
Guest Coffey Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 It was probably a spot fest where several of the spots got botched. If all the wrestlers were "on" however, then I agree that it would be fun to see.
shlidgn90 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 yang had an real good match on an all japan ppv last summer. it featured yang/massaki/dragon kid vs. darkness dragon/magnum tokyo/susumu. it was the only match on the card worth watching however.
Guest The Rising Star Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I saw him in the WCW Cruiserweight 6 Man Elimination Match, I don't know the show or date, however. He is very talented, but he does, as mentioned above, get way ahead of himself in the match. Didn't know he was so young, however.
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I loved when Yang was totally ripping Cima in his matches - from the Iconoclasm to the Perfect Driver - it, along with Jamie Knoble channeling Benoit and Kaz being quite Ohtani-like, made for a very entertaining Cruiserweight Countdown. Kaz/Yang vs. Styles/Paris was a kickass match on the last thunder too *kisses "Air Raid" tattoo*
Spaceman Spiff Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 ::misses WCW:: It's so sad that Kaz had to ask for his release, because he knew the WWE would never use him.
Guest The Rising Star Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 What happened to TAKA? The guy was huge in 1997.
syxx2001 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 At least Kaz had some sense to leave the shithole and go somewhere where he could actually, you know, work.
A Happy Medium Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I saw Yang in a match against Sonjay Dutt in MLW, and it was pretty badass. Always thought the guy was pretty good.
Mecha Mummy Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 What happened to TAKA? The guy was huge in 1997. Damn, what DID happen to TAKA? I believe he's in Japan, but I have no idea where. Michinoku Pro, perhaps?
vermilion Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 TAKA's running his Kaientai Dojo shows and wrestling around in various feds over in Japan, I think. Probably should ask one of the puro guys though, I'm not positive.
Guest TheHulkster Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 The last that I knew, old TAKA was wrestling for Zero-One
Guest The Rising Star Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 What happened to TAKA? The guy was huge in 1997. Damn, what DID happen to TAKA? I believe he's in Japan, but I have no idea where. Michinoku Pro, perhaps? Isn't Shinzaki president of MPro, since Sasuke is in the Japanese senate nowadays?
