Betty Houle Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 I haven't but was told it was quite funny. I'm skeptical because most comedies nowadays do in fact suck.
C Dubya 04 Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 I thought it was funny the whole way through. Cheesey at times, but generally enjoyable. The cheerleader take-off of Bring It On is hilarious. I'll leave it at that.
dubq Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Horrible movie. Somehow it even beats out American Pie for that title.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 It was a lot funnier than I expected. There's hints of brilliance in some parts, and in others it's just really bad.
starvenger Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 It would have been better had they not tried to integrate an actual story into the movie. It was pretty decent when it moved to spoofs/homages, died when it tried to focus on the story. Jamie Pressley does pretty good evil/disgusted facial expressions, though.
the pinjockey Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 I agree, about the movie dying off once they went into it's own story. But it was gold up until that point. Randy Quaid, Marty, the slow clap guy, the wise groundskeeper all ruled.
Anorak Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 I thought it would be terrible but there were odd bits that made me laugh like the 'She's All That' parody of the dowdy/beautiful girl transformation. The 'saliva' scene was a prime example of trying too hard for a big Farrely Bros style gross out moment though IMO. For every good line or amusing scene there's another 2-3 that fall completely flat but thats par for the course with this type of film. Rent it if the only other choices are the Scary Movie films as it does the same thing slightly better.
1234-5678 Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 "But she's got glasses and a ponytail. Aw, look, she's got paint on her overalls, what is that all about?"
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Yeah, the simple stuff like the paint-covered overalls bit, the painting stickfigures, the slowclap guy, the getting-packed-to-go-2-houses-down, was what really made that movie. Plus, the Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Molly Ringwald cameo was great.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 The exchange student had perfect tits
Guest JumpinJackFlash Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 The funniest line in the movie, I thought, was in the song about the prom. It was after the teen said true love he wanted the most. Then, the waiter handed him his food and sang "I just jerked off in your french toast!"
BlackFlagg Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 the cameo from the Principal from Breakfast CLub was the best....But I was hoping for a Judd Nelson cameo as well. Would've ruled if after he went off on the three he went "I've got you for the rest of your natural born lives...if you don't believe me, just ask him." and have the camera pan onto Judd just sitting there, that woud've so pwned.
Yuna_Firerose Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 the cameo from the Principal from Breakfast CLub was the best....But I was hoping for a Judd Nelson cameo as well. Oh, that would've definetly ruled! But, yeah, I thought the movie was pretty funny. The cliches they made fun of, the cheerleading try-outs, the characters...gold. Personally, my faves were the Wannabe and the Obsessed Best Friend...they were great. By the way, for those that have the DVD, how many took the quiz? And, if ya did, what was your score?
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 THE TOKEN BLACK GUY RULED!! I can't believe I forgot about him. "Um... what are you doing here?" That was a great fucking scene. And the waiter is/was the TV Geek on beat the geeks... I kinda marked for that.
Youth N Asia Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Didn't laugh once...this whole parody thing has run its course
Mole Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 It was a lot funnier than I expected. There's hints of brilliance in some parts, and in others it's just really bad. I second the brillance part. This movie has spoofed the most movies I have seen.
Lil' Bitch Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I marked out for Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Mr. T's cameo.
JHawk Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I marked out for Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Lacey Chabert in the Jennifer Love Hewitt "Can't Hardly Wait" spoof. Her last line was classic!
Guest wrestlingbs Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 One of the best "spoof" movies I've seen. Definitely better than the "Scary Movie" franchise. Two of my favorite parts: The football player who always got hit in the head. The "loser best friend" who gets shitted on because he's not the main love interest. Random person on the street: Give it up, pal.
BlackFlagg Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 The football player who always got hit in the head. Best part about that is the actor playing that guy was spoofing the charecter he played in Varsity Blues, heh. There was an interview in the special features on the DVD where he says something like "If anyone's gonna make fun of me it'll be me." heh
Guest Askewniverse Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 One of my favorite lines from the movie: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): "Who would have guessed that everybody at school was a professional dancer?" EDIT: added spoiler tags, just to be safe.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 The "football tackle" had me on the floor the first time I saw it - just needless... totally, utterly, beautifully, needless. And the dude with the bag, that was fucking priceless. Also, the blonde guy who makes the bet... hilarious. Great over-the-top acting and facial expressions...
Guest HHH123007 Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I liked the white kid who was trying to be asian...
Mole Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 The "football tackle" had me on the floor the first time I saw it - just needless... totally, utterly, beautifully, needless. Football tackle? When did that happen...?
NoCalMike Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Yes, this movie was hilarious. Oh and the exchange student was also in Cabin Fever and she showed her tits in that.
Slingshot Suplex Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Didn't laugh once...this whole parody thing has run its course You have become too jaded in my absence, young Jedi
Yuna_Firerose Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 The "football tackle" had me on the floor the first time I saw it - just needless... totally, utterly, beautifully, needless. Football tackle? When did that happen...? If I'm not mistaken, I think RRR is referring to Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the scene where the football team tackled the old lady who was spoofing 'Never Been Kissed'. It was in the trailer, but I think it's in the deleted scenes. And the dude with the bag, that was fucking priceless. Yeah, he was awesome. Not many lines in the movie, but nonetheless awesome. Was the 'Beautiful Weirdo' played by the same actor who played the character in 'American Beauty'? Also, the blonde guy who makes the bet... hilarious. Great over-the-top acting and facial expressions... In this fangirl's opinion, all three of those dudes were hot
Guest Harry Hood Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Actually I'd assume the football tackle refers to when Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the retarded kid gets ripped in half by the other team when Jake throws him a buddy pass
The Czech Republic Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I heard Not Another Teen Movie was Spoiler (Highlight to Read): not very good at all.
