Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 You are what you is isn't a very good album. Probably the only Zappa record I've heard that I can definitely say I don't like. There aren't many I like more than Freak Out though.
godthedog Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 veruca salt - 'american thighs' elvis presley - some random collection of horribly recorded live tracks called 'i was the one'.
Guest JebusNassedar Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Personally? I really enjoyed You Are What You Is. Although I could stand to go my whole life without hearing that Goblin Girl ever again. I played Freak Out in a friend's car (because they dont have the good common sense to stop me) so they looked tormented, making the purchase all the more worth it. Although the most listened to out of the seven is Converge's "You Fail Me." Just...shit. I feel bad for not hearing of them before.

B. Brian Brunzell Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Hey Jebus, waddaya think of Accelerated Evolution?
Guest JebusNassedar Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Hey Jebus, waddaya think of Accelerated Evolution? I think I should have been warned it was only barely like SYL.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I'm having trouble figuring out of that response is good or bad.
Guest JebusNassedar Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 That's for me to know, and YOU TO FIND OUT!! ...um. I mean, bad.
Cuban Linx Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Ol' Dirty Bastard - Osirus: The Official Mixtape
B. Brian Brunzell Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 I think it's a pretty good album Jebus, though it's no Infinity. I quite like the line Faggot is as faggot does/With every little faggot thing/That faggot do
tbondrage99 Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 I just got REMs Automatic For The People.
Nighthawk Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 I finally got Foetus' Sink. I had to pay $40 which is why I'd put it off for so long, but even having heard a lot of it before, it was worth it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Although the most listened to out of the seven is Converge's "You Fail Me." Just...shit. I feel bad for not hearing of them before. Get Jane Doe and see them live once or twice. Unless you end up liking them a whole lot, as some people do. Then go more, I guess. Really fucking violent show, but it's that camaraderie kind of violent.
Gary Floyd Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Cabaret Voltaire-The Crackdown Original Soundtrack for the Movie "Saw"-Got it for the awesome score alone
Nighthawk Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Anybody notice bits of that Saw score were pretty reminscent of Requiem for a Dream? I swear that's the best scored movie of all time.
godthedog Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 henry mancini and 'touch of evil' own the ass of 'requiem'. the tinkly player piano, the beefy horns, the latin beats...that shit is sweaty and sleazy to the extreme.
5_moves_of_doom Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Anybody notice bits of that Saw score were pretty reminscent of Requiem for a Dream? I swear that's the best scored movie of all time. Agreed. I rented the movie, bought the soundtrack, and then bought the movie. In that order. And to think it's the guy from Pop Will Eat Itself.
Anorak Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 The Fiery Furnaces - EP Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
B. Brian Brunzell Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 I also bought a Kaada and Mike Patton album that is definitely one of the strangest albums I've ever heard. But it's Patton, so it's all good.
DCMaximo Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 "John Henry" by They Might Be Giants "Mink Car" by They Might Be Giants "Being There" by Wilco "Old Ramon" by the Red House Painters Total cost-£16 God bless Selectadisc!
DMann2003 Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I just picked up the Deluxe Editions of The Who's Tommy and Who's Next at a Flea Market CD place that was on clearance, they were marked 14.99 a piece. If I ever get an SACD player I can listen to Tommy in 5.1 surround sound.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I got Snoop Doggy Dogg's Doggystyle. It really is pretty damn good. I liked the retro funk grooves (I'm a sucker for a funky bass or a "wacachika" guitar) that were in every song on the album (That's G-Funk right?), and Snoop dropped some pretty dope rhymes. I think this will be the only Snoop album I'll own though, since I hear that his other albums aren't that great.
