Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 13, 2004 (edited) This isn't necessarily for stand up guys like Carlin or whatever (although your selection could have been a stand up) but for people who regularly play the "funny man" role in television shows or movies. Personally, many of you know that I don't really like Jim Carrey. I think at one point, he was actually a funny guy that would supplement his comedy by making funny faces and screaming loudly. Sometime in the last five or six years, he just totally fell back on that funny face/screaming routine, with only a few bright spots (I actually saw Bruce Almighty recently, and he had some good moments) and almost became a caricature of himself. I also never got the Will Ferrell appeal. At all. Edited March 13, 2004 by Anglesault

Mik 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 ^^ Three words: Curb Your Enthusiasm. Although he doesn't really do much on there, that kinda redeems him in my eyes. Mine: Andy Dick, what a horribly unfunny person. I'll throw in his doppleganger, Kathy Griffin, for free.

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I'll get shit for this, but I can't stand Steve Martin or Robin Williams. Robin Williams "look at me, I have attention deficit disorder" act wore me out 15 years ago. I really find the fucker creepy. I honestly think he is the most overrated comedian right now. He is doing Jim Carrey's act, but he's much too old and it comes off as shoved down my throat instead of, oh I don't know, funny. Steve Martin is hit and miss with me, a lot more misses (Cheaper by the Dozen, anyone) than hits (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I love Curb...but he's still not funny.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Yeah, watching Robin is like watching your grandpa say the same lame joke he's been saying for the past 15 years everytime you visit. his act at the Academy Awards was embarassing. Least funny comic on tv has to be Wanda Sykes. God I hated her FOX show.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I don't like Wanda...but she is actually funny on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Michael Ian Black is not funny...I loved The State, but found a new hatred for him with I Love The 80s. He's just annoying. You can write off 9/10 of the VH1/E Entertainment count down shows

I remember when she hosted some awards show, I refused to watch it just because she hosted it.
spiny norman 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I find most of the comedians who have come along in the past ten years or so unfunny. They all just seem to be recycling the same jokes which weren't that great to begin with. I don't mind Jim Carrey though, simply for The Truman Show. I absolutely loathe Adam Sandler though, if only he did more movies like The Wedding Singer (and no, I didn't like him in Punch Drunk Love). Ben Stiller is one of the more bearable ones, though that's not really saying a lot (but I can't hate anyone who was in Something About Mary).
Jingus 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Terribly, horribly, rancidly unfunny people: Adam Sandler, Pauly Shore, Carrottop, most Wayans brothers, Dennis Miller, Steve Martin, Mel Gibson, Tom Green, 90% of the voiceover people on Crank Yankers, Jackie Chan from Who Am I onward, and the entire cast of Saturday Night Live for the past five years (excluding Will Ferrell). Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted March 13, 2004 What's weird is I don't have a problem with most of the SNL cast while they're on SNL. After they leave they just aren't as funny anymore. David Spade has a little place in hell reserved for him just for the work he did with the Video Game Awards.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 Rush Hour 2 and Joe Dirt were a good movies.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 David Spade is funny, then you realize HE IS THE EXACT SAME CHARACTER IN EVERYTHING: deadpan smartass who should get his ass kicked. Carrot Top, I'd say he's slated for maybe 7th circle of hell? I personally enjoyed that scene in Curb Your Enthusiasm when Cheryl's family is over (Devoted Mother, Beloved Aunt episode) and the father says "You know who's really funny? That Carrot Top guy. With all that red hair." and that point Larry decides that he HAS to leave.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 I also never got the Will Ferrell appeal. At all. Occasionally he'd be funny on SNL... Sadly, he was the funniest regular cast member until he left recently. Is Tom Green too obvious?

I've seen many of his shows and he just sounds repetitive and doesn't make sense half the time to an extent that it's not even close to being funny anymore. kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 My first thought was Ms. Cho. Oh, and Carlin is an odd one for me. There have been bits he's done that I thought were genius, but then there have been stand-up specials where I sat through the entire hour with a straight face...
