Mole Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Sorry if this has been posted before, but I've never seen it. What are your guilty pleasure songs? The ones you listen to, but don't really tell many people because they will make fun of you. Or songs that suck, but you still like. Everyone has atleast one of those songs. I like "Toxic" for some odd reason. I just like the beat basically; it thumps pretty well in my car. And I like most of the songs from the musical Buffy episode, "Once More, With Feeling." Some of the songs are actually good, but I don't get caught dead listening to it in public.
Garth Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 I have a very similar taste in guilty pleasure music as you Mole, i have all the songs off OMWF and I really like Toxic as well as most of Britneys other stuff, being well known at my previous school for singing Britney Spears songs on the bus ride home. I also like some of Girls Alouds stuff its damn catchy, also love the song genie in a bottle for some reason.
Der Kommissar Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Depending on one's perspective, most of my CD collection could be classified as a guilty pleasure. Though, for me, the obvious choice would be the William Hung CD.
DCMaximo Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 God, there are SOOO many I can think of that I love, but really shouldn't... ANYTHING by Tiffany, Busted or Phil Collins LFO-Summer Girls (sorry) Point Break-Freaky Time Cliff Richard-Wired For Sound Girls Aloud-No Good Advice Darius-Colourblind I feel so ashamed...
Mole Posted April 12, 2004 Author Report Posted April 12, 2004 I have a very similar taste in guilty pleasure music as you Mole, i have all the songs off OMWF and I really like Toxic as well as most of Britneys other stuff, being well known at my previous school for singing Britney Spears songs on the bus ride home. Yeah, I have a thing about Britney. I had her first CD, but eventually put it in the botton drawer of my desk never to see it again. I wouldn't be suprised if it is still there. LFO-Summer Girls (sorry) Ha, that's funny. I like a few of Christina songs, but she does have a good voice. Oh GoD, I just remembered my worst guilty pleasure, Hilary Duff.
Nighthawk Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Many, but I'll have to do it by artist, there's too many songs. I'm not actually ashamed of any of these, but I think they fit the bill. As far as pure pop, I like both Britney and Xtina (better of the two), but my all time favorite of the style is the Spice Girls. I also enjoy Mel C's solo work. As far as rap, I like Ludacris (a lot actually... he's growing on me), Nelly and his associates. I like that Cash Money stuff, and not only Juvenile. G Unit. Necro, who I'll admit sucks, but I like him anyway. Early ICP. Let's see, on the rock side, I actually am starting to like Korn. Monster Magnet are some of my favs, I'm not exactly sure what people think of them. Marilyn Manson (who nobody should be ashamed of, but they are) Andrew WK Any hair metal. The Hives, Graves era Misfits, and let's see... Fatboy Slim and Paul Oakenfold.
Lord of The Curry Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Journey- Any and all songs. Steve Perry is a fucking pimp. G Unit- Poppin' them thangs Bryan Adams- Heaven Juvenile- Back that ass up Dido- Here with me That's just a sample of the delicious crap I listen to.
Corey_Lazarus Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I'm going to make an announcement to all of you, and it may damn well make somebody's head explode. I, Corey M. Lazarus, actually like Limp Bizkit in that "so awful they're great" way.
Mole Posted April 12, 2004 Author Report Posted April 12, 2004 I also like "Yeah" with Usher and Ludacris. I might be going to see Ludacris in two weeks at UConn's Spring Fest.
Lord of The Curry Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 *Shudder* I hate that song with a burning passion. Luda is passable, depending on his work, Usher is kinda there but Lil Jon is the worst thing to happen to hip-hop since Master P. His only saving grace is (ironically) the fact that he sucks, allowing hilarious parodies such as Dave Chapelle's "A moment in the life of Lil Jon".
CanadianChick Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I also like "Yeah" with Usher and Ludacris. I might be going to see Ludacris in two weeks at UConn's Spring Fest. Oh geez, I want that song to perish in hell. It's NOT Ursher...it's USHER! There is no freaking R in there you illiterate idiot! Why does pronouncing names/words wrong make one hip? Why, dear god, why? My guilty pleasure: Pink. I like nearly all her songs. Not sure why, I just do.
Red Baron Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Duran Duran Depeche Mode Prince Michael Jackson Styx Journey Spinal Tap Bush X
Henry Spencer Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Depeche Mode Prince Michael Jackson There is no reason to be ashamed of any of those. Mine would be the B-52s, Dropkick Murphys, and Andrew WK.

Vyce Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 *Shudder* I hate that song with a burning passion. His only saving grace is (ironically) the fact that he sucks, allowing hilarious parodies such as Dave Chapelle's "A moment in the life of Lil Jon". That's a total guilty pleasure song. BTW, I had never heard that song (I loathe hip hop) until Chappelle did that parody. I downloaded the song, and I must say, it's kind of disturbing how totally Dave nailed down Lil' John. He really is THAT awful. Depeche Mode is most definitely NOT a guilty pleasure. Guilty pleasures are songs or artists you should be embarrassed about listening to / enjoying. I don't think Mode falls into that, nor does Michelle Branch. My guilty pleasure: some Jpop. Normally I wouldn't really think that it's worthy of being a guilty pleasure, but traditionally a hard rock / metal type of person and it's a little difficult to explain to my friends why I have a Utada Hikaru album in my collection.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Bryan Adams and Pink. My two big guilty pleasures.
Nighthawk Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Christ, don't say Prince. I'm not up to going into it right now, but the man's the greatest musical artist of all time. No reason to feel guilty there.
C Dubya 04 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart. Always has been and always will be my guilty pleasure.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Anything by Lividity. They're probably one of the worst bands on Earth, honestly, but they're just so disgusting and unabashedly cheesy that I can't help but love them with all my heart. They have song names like "Oozing Vaginal Discharge," and every track starts with a either a sample from porn, or a movie clip about killing someone, then they growl and chug for the next few minutes, expanding on the song title. So horribly great.
Guest Wildbomb 4:20 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I must say, you're gonna have to take Dropkick off the Guilty Pleasure list...they got some damn good shit in their catalog, especially the older stuff. I'll have to agree with Corey here with Limp Bizkit. And here's one I'm definitely gonna get some shit for: I enjoy listening to the first Good Charlotte CD in the same fashion.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 There always seems to be one guilty pleasure I get into every year or couple of years. Of course I've been ridiculously chastized for my recent love for Evanescence... And it's not even that I give a shit about the band's terrible nu-metal style, it's all Amy Lee....grrrrowl. I'll also admit to being one of the Britney thumpers back in high school and I occassionally still bust out Toxic. *loses metalhead membership card* Aww man....Fuck well I bought the Slayer DVD today.... *regains metal membership card STAMPED~!* YES!!
Edwin MacPhisto Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I don't really think there's anything too guilty about "Toxic." It's a fun pop song with a really great hook. "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" would be more along the lines of a Britney Spears guilty pleasure, except that it sucks.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 This is easy Phil Collins
Jebus Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Everybody loves Phil Collins...well everyone *I* know
Corey_Lazarus Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 **doesn't love Phil Collins, you fagg0rtz**
Red Baron Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Everybody loves Phil Collins...well everyone *I* know Peter Gabriel > Phil Collins
snuffbox Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Neither Phil Collins nor Peter Gabriel are anything to feel guilty about.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Just about every pop song out there.Plus Limp Bizket and Linkin Park(Oh yeah and Blink 182 and GoodCharlotte)
