As pointed out over in the DVDVR Lost thread, Rousseau's kid was also born on the island, so it makes sense that *something* happened after that point which fucks with pregnancies. Ben being born on the island may not be as significant as I thought.

I was using the Juliet episode thing as an example. I could have said Locke, Sawyer, Sayid, or any other character for that matter, Juliet was just the first one that sprung to mind.

 

Personally, I don't see how saying what character/event will be focused on gives away anything about an episode. If I say--and again, this is another example--that there's a Locke episode coming up in a few weeks, doesn't mean that I'm going to talk about some big revelation regarding his father.

 

So just because I announce that there will be a DHARMA episode doesn't mean I'm going to give away that....

I'm just astonished that the writers managed to come up with yet another way for the main cast to not get any answers from someone who ostensibly has answers. "She's under my protection"? No one actually making an effort to get an explanation? God, retarded. It was nice to see flashbacks that were mostly explaining island stuff, but the beach characters have been stretched even further beyond believability. The writers really must not know the answers at this point--either that, or they've been told to drag this thing out for 7 seasons.

Unless Sayid was just playing mindgames w/ her in order to get her to release him? Probably, but I still think Alex is her daughter in either scenario.

 

But let's go w/ your theory (Alex is not Rousseau's daughter, and wasn't born on the island) - does that make Ben a "miracle baby"? And maybe his cancer is the island trying to "correct course" (cf. Desmond's flashback) by ridding the world of a person who should never have been born?

Even though last Summers online Lost Experience game explain what they were for. It's part of something called 'The Valenzetti Equation', which is part of a mathimatical equation that holds the key to extended human life and curing many illnesses. Of course, how 'official' the 'Lost Experience' was could be debated from now until the end of the show, although it was pretty fun.

 

As for season3, it's recently started to pick up over the last few episodes and for once I'm pretty excited about next weeks episode, rather then just watching it cos its on.

 

The flashbacks that showed the communications building was pretty good, at least we know 100% the outside world was away from pretty early on that flight815 has disappeared.

Agreed, I was bored with the first few eps dealing more or less with the Others. I understand why they had to do it, but I don't think you got enough bang for as much time as it took. Glad the show is picking up again

My only problem with that episode was the constant faces Julliet made. I think she did Blue Steel a couple of times, Ferrari quite a bit, and I think I caught a glimpse of Magnum at one point. I've come to expect "The Others are Playing You" for everything they do, so that didn't bother me so much.

Just to those who think THE OTHERS shouldn't be ahead of the SURVIVORS-

 

Why not?

 

I mean, the Others are obviously well funded, with intelligent people, access to medicine and technology, they're aware of what's on the island, maybe even in control of it. As we've now seen, they were able to get detailed information on the survivors from plane records and searches no doubt. Up until a few weeks ago (island time) they were able to make contact with the mainland with frequency.

 

Meanwhile the survivors have been through a harrowing ordeal, are complete strangers only slowly coming to know about each other, stuck on an island with limited supplies, no chance to make contact with the outside world...And then they start seeing a bunch of crazy shit on top of it, they're lucky they didn't become cannibals by now.

 

So it doesn't bother me that The Others have the upperhand, it makes sense.

 

However I do think Jack is fully aware that Juliet is a spy and is playing her along.

It's not that the Others scheme a lot, -which they do-, it's like, always the same scheme, just more complex each and every time. "Ok, pretend you are on their side... but you're not... but pretend that you are, and when the time is right, reveal yourself as one of us and not one of them, because you were with us the whole time and not with them... ooooh the looks on their faces! We'll PUNK em good."

For those talking about Sun's pregnancy and the significance of "no babies being born on the island since XXXX", am I the only one who thinks that last night's episode implied that that was no longer an issue?

 

Ben mentioned to Juliette that The Others had triggered an implant in Claire so that she would appear symptomatic. To me it seems that Ethan was not sent to treat Claire, but that the birthing problem had been solved and that Ethan was sent largely to implant the device into Claire.

I figured it hadn't been solved, and the reason they grabbed the children was because they couldn't conceive on their own.

 

I hope the reason Desmond is left out of the loop is because they'r planning later on to use him as the one that gets to Juliette. He's the only one not on the flight, so they have no record of him, and thus Juliette doesn't haveany ammo on him. At least I'm hoping, because I really want to see some torture. But in the end, I think Juliette is either gonna turn on Ben or Jack is going to not be strung along.

Btw, they are SO killing Jack off this season. His usefulness has pretty much run out. Sawyer and Kate are pretty much locked, no one needs a doctor -it seems- any more, everyone is pretty much in a groove and don't need a leader, and there's not a whole lot of mystery left on him.

A highly-placed insider has just set my hinder straight on the batting order for the final episodes of “Lost” this season.

 

The bad news? As reported by TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, the season will indeed not end with a Benjamin Linus flashback two-parter.

 

The good news? We’ll be getting Ben’s flashbacks even sooner! He’ll be the focus of 3.20, the episode previously believed to be DeGroot-centric. (If you’re thinking Dharma masterminds Karen and Gerald DeGroot will still turn up in that episode, I’d guess you’re thinking right.)

 

The shocking news? After years of privately and publicly nagging the producers of “Lost” to cut back on the flashbacks, I can report that 3.19 is slated to be the first-ever flashback-free episode in the series’ history.

 

The absent flashbacks for that episode, says my source, “won't even be missed.”

 

“The episode,” he or she adds, “focuses on one of season one's ‘mysteries’ - if that's the right word.”

I have to admit that I'm equally as intrigued for the season finale based on who it is about... just because it might be some wild stuff.
