Tony Schiavone back with WWE...

Recommended Posts

It seems as if Tony Shivonne and WWE are about to finish negotiating a deal in which Shivonne would become some kind of commentator on their programs. One reason our source reported, the WWE was looking was because Jerry The King Lawler is looking for some time off and they would like a new face at the table.

THIS IS THE GREATEST ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR GREAT SPORT :D

Well glad to see Tony back.....but I don't see J.R. and Tony working together.....two PBP guys do NOT work....

But I doubt this is true though.

Assuming this is actually true, that would be awesome. I have always liked Schiavone, and assuming he is still a passable announcer, then it would be nice to have some new blood commentating Raw. Even though it would just be plain bizarre to have Raw open up, then hear Tony Schiavone's voice.

EDIT: Though, I third the bullshit call for now.

Tony Schiavone does the Braves radio show here around Atlanta, and I guess he'd need something to do during baseball's off-season.

This reminds me of when Bischoff was threatening to fire J.R. in late-2002 and he said, "Don't forget J.R., I've got Tony Schiavone's phone number on speed dial."

If it wasn't bad enough our own commentators in the WWE talk about the main event angles during matches, now the King of the Flair ass kissers will be on. Christ. I pray its not true

Please Jeebus I wish 4 thee to send Schivoni away far far far away

It would be weird having RAW open up with Schivonee and another announcer(maybe Mark Madden).....and have Bischoff come down the aisle to open up the show....

Bizarre....

IF this is true I'd say Schiavone would end up on Smackdown.

I have a feeling that Heidenreich is going to eventually tie Michael Cole up and throw him in the trunk of his car. Then Heidenreich will just drive off and never return again.

After tonight, we know Tazz can't call the show himself.

According to Meltzer, Schiavone HATES the entire industry as a whole (not in a personal way, but in a business sense).

This could not be more of a bullshit rumor.

They can't even spell his name close to right. How can it be a legitimate news item?

Well, he's better than Grisham...

Would Tony even take a WWE job where he'd be lower on the totem pole than Ross? I can't see him doing Heat/Velocity, and Cole's sadly no worse than him at this point.

What's Tenay doing these days?

I'm not sure Tony would even work in this atmosphere. Then again Smackdown might actually work for him. I can see him calling with Tazz, although I'm not sure anything would be as entertaining as Tony and Brian were.

Either way, I think the whole story is boulderdash.

I have no issue with Schiavone coming back to wrestling, if this is true. I've been seeing some weird WWE announcers hosting like the PPV pre-show and Todd Grisham, seeing Schiavone's face would actually be a breath of fresh air, even if that air would get stale eventually. Grisham is one of those guys that gets stale as soon as his name disappears off the screen.

I'll assume this "Brian" you speak of is Bobby Heenan, unless Brian Knobbs did in fact sit in at the announcers' booth for some thigh-slappin'-good commentary.

Remember when he used to call a spinebuster a 'sidewalk slam'.

I remember when he called ME a sidewalk slam.

Tony: Alright fans, some hot cruiserweight action for you, Psychosis vs Lizmark Junior, don't forget the encore presentation of Bull right after the show tonight only on TNT

Brian: LET'S GET NASTY!

If they put him back on TV, I'll watch wrestling with the sound off, so help me God.

Remember folks, this is the same guy that once said "Benoit has got the chair!" as Benoit PULLED A TABLE FROM UNDER THE RING.

What a tool.

Was he the one that would call it an "international object"?

No, that was Gordon Solie.

And Solie was under orders to say that because WCW back then thought "foreign object" was offensive to foreigners.
