Mole 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 In the same writeup in the Observer, it said that if Sabu were physically able to do anything, he would as long as Heyman wasn't involved (the two do not get along). But who would one rather have at the PPV; Sabu or Heyman? I'll go with Heyman.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 6, 2005 ECW Title*(one night only) Rhyno Vs Tajiri Eddy Guerrero Vs Dean Melenko (MUST BE A WINNER) Lance Storm Vs Chris Jericho (Submission Match) 2 Cold Scorpio Vs Benoit Rob Van Dam Vs Mysterio (Mexican Death Match AKA 2/3 Falls Count Anywhere) Dudleyz Vs Ballz Mahoney and Axl Rotten(they can't be busy enough to turn down a few bucks) Street Fight Special Guest Referee: Mick Foley Terry Funk Vs Tommy Dreamer bWo reunion (put Nova in a wig and mask and no one will know it's dean) Little Guido Vs Taz (Squash) *Al Snow and Tazz commentate* That wouldn't suck. Two fun "violent" brawls. Taz squashes after Guido talks shit with the returning Big Sal which was pretty much his whole aura. BWO brings da comedy. A High flying match and three "clinical" matches and the final blowoff ECW Title Match between the last two big stars. If Justin Credible can appear, make it Impact Players Vs Dudleys in a "battle of the greatest tag teams in ECW history" match and move Jericho to face Benoit and slide Scorpio out of the card. TNA will be dead by the PPV's airing so if WWE wanted they could offer Douglas, Raven and Lynn a spot but Douglas hates WWE and they hate him equally. Raven's a whore so he may do it or may not depending on what drugs he's on when he's offered the spot. If Lynn can work, might as well do RVD/Lynn and slide Mysterio to face Guido and have Taz(z) squash someone else. If Raven would to appear; He would obviously be involved with Dreamer. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I guess he feels it won't do ECW justice. Or he really doesn't like anything to do with WWE. And regarding the ECW PPV, Storm said in a recent commentary that RVD and Dreamer both said they'd like to work with him at it.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I would like to see Mike Awesome in the PPV. Sure he wasn't the best wrestler, but i liked his gimmick, powerbombing people like crazy. It would be cool to see him and Judge Jeff Jones back together for 1 night.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Ok, first off Sabu would have to no-show for it to really feel like ECW. Maybe cause he was booked to wrestle Bushwhacker Luke at a Walmart in Branson or something. ECW is gone. Most of the roster from the hey day are either retired or in such bad shape from the style that they should retire. Plus it's just not an ECW PPV without half the roster running in for about 4 unscheduled matches either. Sandman saying no to a free paycheck surprises me. Unless the WWE was looking to bring guys in "for exposure" or something.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Meltzer's exact words from the 1/3 Observer: "Sandman was asked if he'd do the proposed 6/5 ECW PPV if asked, and his response was "not a chance". He said he didn't want to be involved with the politics with that company. He does almost no wrestling now, even though he gets plenty of offers, and has other business interests that have taken good care of him so he isn't in need for money, nor apparently in need of the ego fix either." Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 6, 2005 The Sandman has his pride, and he's right. WWE has a better chance at fucking up an ECW than... well, it's #1 on my most obvious list, so better chance at fucking up than anything else in the world. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Finding ECW guys who liked Paul is harder than finding guys who don't, by my impressions. Oh well, I don't want Sandman on my TV again, so yay or something.
natey2k4 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 If WWE did something like this.. I'd totally dig it.. *= If they can appear. *Corino vs Benoit... (15 minutes) Eddie Guerrero vs Malenko.... (25 minutes) Jerry Lynn vs Jericho.... (20 minutes) Mysterio vs Nova(Simon Dean) vs *Psicosis.... (20 minutes) Taz(Tazz) vs Spike... (2 minutes) Rhino(Rhyno) vs RVD.... (12 minutes) Dudley Boyz vs Impact Players(Storm & *Credible).... (10 minutes) *Funk vs Dreamer.... (15 minutes) Guido(Nunzio) vs Tajiri.... (12 minutes) If you could, bring in Chris Chetti and have him face off against Nova.. if you didnt want the three way. If a card something like that is made.. I'll dig it right up. geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 WWE will need to dig into their pockets to purchase the rights to a certain Mad Season song if Dreamer wrestles. Whoever gets that reference earns my respect.
IWD 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 So far as I can tell the following WWE people worked with ECW at one stage in their career. Years may be slightly inaccurate as they're just from the top of my head. Sass 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 The Sandman not showing up does neither side any good. Taz coming out of retirement to beat Kurt Angle again might help an ECW-themed card. Angle's 0-2 against Taz (except for a 3-way mach). Taz then retires again and Vince tells Angle to not touch Taz ever again after the match. Dictating to Angle that if he does go after Taz will result in his termination from the company, since Vince wants to protect Angle (and his neck) from getting crunched by Taz again and forcing him into retirement. Somewhere down the line the two can have their big grudge match (with Taz possibly being the heel). That or he can beat HHH.
zyn081 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Tazz isn't going to wrestle on it, either. Man I was at least hoping for Sandman. Now, without him, and without the ability to bring in Shane Douglas or Raven either............what's the fucking point? Thats just lost my interest in it altogether. Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Agreed, I still want to see the TV Title vs World Title Rhino/RVD match (and hey - Rhino still has the ECW strap, so they could unretire it for a night). To make it a faithful ECW show, Rob has to waste 18 minutes with posing and yacking with the fans. Speaking of authentic ECW, Dawn needs to bring back her bimbo gimmick (well, you know, the other one she was using in ECW), and the Dudleys need to be allowed to swear like filthy sailors and bait the crowd for ten minutes before the bell rings. Hell, do that as a setup for a markout moment like Raven or someone coming out of the crowd to accept their challenge.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Doesn't Tazz's neck prevent him from wrestling? IIRC, he'll end up needing neck surgery at some point, so I can't see him going out and doing anything other than throwing a suplex or 2, much less wrestling a full, competitive match. Eclipse 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 After seeing this about Sandman, that ECW PPV is looking more and more horrible. Established ECW stars turning down a reunion with their ECW roster? That's like an old friend forgetting completely about his roots. Sandman probably sensed this PPV, under WWE jurisdiction, is GONNA BOMB. Without the non WWE ECW guys, this is basically gonna be WWE under the ECW banner. And the sad part is, I can't believe that I said WWE when most of the roster attending was in ECW first. WWE has basically eliminated the ECW hype when using former ECW stars. If I don't see RVD cursing, or Al Snow with his Head gimmick, or Tazz choking someone out, or The Innovator of Violence showing he is INDEED violent, or the Dudleyz putting people threw the tables, ECW style, then I don't wanna see this reunion PPV AT ALL. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I don't have any interest in this project. Even if Heyman, Sandman et al were involved, it's pointless nostalgia, ECW should be fondly remembered for it's glory days but it ceased to be relevant or entertaining quite a while ago. Special K 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Hopefully Sandman is just good with his money. He probably made a shit-ton in WCW, and since he'd been working for cheap all his career, he could have realized he better hold on to it. Or he could just like being poor. I miss Dawn Marie's character. She was hilarious. No Taz Sandman or Shane is gonna hurt. You know Awesome's not going to fly back to the states for one show. (probably has a bad relationship anyway). Dreamer and Malenko have been non-wrestlers for too long. If Heyman were involved, I would have ordered it. As it stands, I have no faith in the WWE to pull this off well.
