This is one that hadn't occured to me since it's technically the second track, but I'd consider it the album's opener.

Deltron 3030- 3030

Awesome way to set the mood for the album.

And just so I can put in on the list 'Holiday in Cambodia' is the first track on the 2nd disk of the extended Fresh Fruit release. And it goes here because it fuckin' rules.

Totally agree with "Only Shallow", "Grace Cathedral Park" and "Teenage Riot". Just wanted to add:

"Rather Be Dead" by Refused (from Songs To Fan The Flames Of Discontent)

"Sparks Are Going To Fly" by the Catherine Wheel (from Wishville)

"Daily Mutilation" by the Posies (from Amazing Disgrace)

"You Held The World In Your Arms" by Idlewild (from The Remote Part)

"Sleepflower" by the Manics (from Gold Against The Soul)

Nirvana - Serve the Servants (Mostly for the first line; "Teenage angst has paid off well, but now I'm bored and old.")

The Pixies - Debaser

Weezer - My Name is Jonas

Blur - Girls and Boys

EDIT: Oh, and if "3030" from Deltron 3030 does count, it's worthy too.

The Eagles had some nice openers:

Take It Easy on their self titled album

Doolin' Dalton on Desperado

Hotel California on the album of the same name

also, my first They Might Be Giants CD was Severe Tire Damage, and they had me hooked with Doctor Worm.
