EVIL~! alkeiper Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Dodgers: Duke Snider I'd say Sandy Koufax, or maybe Tommy Lasorda even though he was just Mr. Manager Oddly enough, the Duke is second all time in Dodgers' win shares. Zach Wheat is first, having collected 2,804 hits alongside a .317 batting average from 1909-26. But I wouldn't slap a franchise tag on Wheat. Koufax ranks 18th among Dodgers, but since his career was very short, that isn't quite a fair assessment.
CanadianChris Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 - Edmonton Eskimos: Henry "Gizmo" Williams Is, and always will be, Warren Moon.
MARTYEWR Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 - Edmonton Eskimos: Henry "Gizmo" Williams Is, and always will be, Warren Moon. I was too young to remember Moon's days with the Esks, but I've studied the history. I'd still go with Giz, because I'm a fan of the guy, but Moon's still a great choice.
NoCalMike Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Washington Redskins - Darrell Green, Sonny Jurgenson, Sammy Baugh, "The Hogs" take your pick, with Darrell Green being the most current image. Coach: Joe Gibbs, George Allen.
Darthtiki Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Dodgers: Duke Snider I'd say Sandy Koufax, or maybe Tommy Lasorda even though he was just Mr. Manager What about Don Drysdale, Steve Garvey, or I don't know maybe JACKIE FUCKING ROBINSON!!!

Well are we talking Brooklyn or Los Angeles? Jackie Robinson for Brooklyn, yeah, but for the L.A. Dodgers I think Sandy Koufax and Tommy Lasorda.
nl5xsk1 Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Boston Red Sox: Yaz Boston Celtics: Bill Russel Boston Bruins: Ray Borque New England Patriots: Steve Grogan It's like you purposely chose people other than the ones most commonly referenced ... Sox == Ted Williams C's == Bird, maybe Cousy B's == Bobby Orr Pats == John Hannah (although I bet in like 10 years Tom Brady will be the person that people say == Pats)
Guest PlatinumBoy Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Here's a question. Is it still too early to say Vick is the Falcons all time Signature Player?
The Czech Republic Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 The Patriots signature player is the whole team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
Vern Gagne Posted February 26, 2005 Author Report Posted February 26, 2005 It's Tom Brady. Braves-Hank Aaron Atlanta Braves-Chipper Jones. Yes. Aaron broke the HR record, and played 10 years in Atlanta. But he also played 13 seasons in Milwaukee. He's the fact of the Braves franchise, but Chipper's been the most recongizable face for Atlanta for over a decade.

It's one of the Big 3 pitchers for me (Maddux, Glavine or Smoltz). Or Dale Murphy.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted February 26, 2005 Report Posted February 26, 2005 I wouldn't rank him as the Braves' signature player, but the Atlanta Braves' all time leader in Win Shares is Phil Niekro.
Vern Gagne Posted February 26, 2005 Author Report Posted February 26, 2005 Probably be mentioned Browns=Jim Brown Gopher Hoops-Kevin McHale. Even though Thompson, and Bruer were both better college players. Gophers Football-Paul Giel
Vasarian_Brandy Posted February 26, 2005 Report Posted February 26, 2005 Browns=Jim Brown Eh... I could definitely see that one, but I think his 'credibility' might be declining over the years. My personal Cleveland picks: Browns - Brian Sipe (Kardiac Kids. Nuff said.) Bernie Kosar (Probably the best QB outside of Sipe the Brownies have seen.) John Elway (For all the wrong reasons, of course...) Indians - Herb Score (An up-and-comer whose career was cut short, yet remained a major influence on the team as a broadcaster.) Bob Feller (Best pitcher... Ever.) Len Barker (Probably my earliest childhood memory.) Jose Mesa & Charlie Nagy (1997... World Series... Game 7...) Jim Thome (The most likable hitter one could ever hope to know... Sadly, I don't.) Cavaliers - Brad Daugherty, Larry Nance, & Mark Price (The core of the Cavs in the late 80's & early 90's... A fantastic trio that I think really defined the team game.) Michael Jordan (He could probably be on many teams' lists for "All-time Dubious Player", but...)
Vern Gagne Posted February 26, 2005 Author Report Posted February 26, 2005 I was thinking of Kosar. I don't think Sipe is known enough outside, Cleveland to be the signature player.

Vasarian_Brandy Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 I was thinking of Kosar. I don't think Sipe is known enough outside, Cleveland to be the signature player. That would surprise me. From what I heard, the Kardiac Kids got a lot of pub in the day, and considering Sipe was the 'ringleader'... But, you could be right. Kosar I think would be the top name in recent Browns history, and quickly catching up to Jim Brown. At least in my eyes.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 Browns - Brian Sipe (Kardiac Kids. Nuff said.) Bernie Kosar (Probably the best QB outside of Sipe the Brownies have seen.) Hey. The Leafs, I know the Leafs of the 90s definitely has to be Douggie, though I don't know if people recognize him more than Sittler. The Killer is just a player that nobody hates. Not a lot of skill, but his heart and work ethic are equal to none. The Jays, probably Roberto ALomar, maybe Joe Carter for that Homer against the WILD THANG~! Buffalo Bills - Probably Jim Kelly, hell it could be any of the stars from those four Super Bowl teams. I'd say Kelly, but Thermo, Bruce Smith and maybe even Andre Reed could make a case. Interesting one; I think for the Dolphins most would say Marino, but they never won a championship when he was there, as opposed to the successes that they had in the seventies before him. Is it safe to say that Lebron is already the guy in Cleveland? It couldn't possibly be Craig Ehlo? That guy was pretty good though. Mark Price? I don't know shit about Cleveland basketball, those are the only ones I can think of really. Fun fact, that originally said I don't shit about Cleveland basketball. I guess that would've made sense too.
Vasarian_Brandy Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 That picture = teh r0><0rz The Jays, probably Roberto ALomar, maybe Joe Carter for that Homer against the WILD THANG~! Go fig... Both guys could also have cases made for them to be signature players for the Tribe. Is it safe to say that Lebron is already the guy in Cleveland? It couldn't possibly be Craig Ehlo? That guy was pretty good though. Mark Price? I don't know shit about Cleveland basketball, those are the only ones I can think of really. LeBron is a stellar player, and will one day be a 'signature' player. Yes, he's the most recognizable name in Cleveland sports today. But people like Ehlo and Price had that something... I guess imperceivable... That comes with time in the sport. LeBron will find that, and he will be a signature player.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 Joe Carter would be the Indians' signature player for all the wrong reasons. He represents the low OBP players the Tribe loved to collect, that made them so terrible during the 1980s.
MikeJordan23 Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 The Indian's signature player is Willie Mays Hays
