The OAO RAW Thread - 5/23/05

Hell in a Cell. You knew he was going to announce that.

Well, I do like how they immediately set up a month of buildup in a 3-minute beatdown. Hell, Batista and HHH could stay off TV until 6/26 and the match would have just as much heat on it.

Kinda funny that Edge & Christian disappear once HHH makes an appearance. Funny in a "look who's the REAL star of the show, screw these other guys" kind of way.

Watch Edge have a shit-fit over Triple H getting a title shot announced next week.

Well, to be fair all 3 just got shitkicked by Batista so they would've been nothing but cannon fodder anyway.

Awesome Raw......i've never seen that Flair tease face turn before. So fuckin original. He's only done it about 12 times in the past 2 years.

Now it looks like Batista is the only numbnut that would fall for that crap now.

I think he and Sting are neck and neck.

What a nice time it would be for Edge to cash in his title shot.

If you think Matt would kill Edge, wait for Triple H's reaction if he did that....

But they COMPLETELY disappeared. Why wouldn't they stick around to get their shots in on Batista once he was incapacitated?

We really need a PPV to go by without HHH in the main event.

ECW One Night Only!

You think for one second HHH wont be on the ECW show? I predict they bring back Rhyno to face HHH in a World Heavyweight/ECW World unification match..............

One good thing about HHH's return tonight was that he was back to the psychotic sledgehammer-weilding HHH that I enjoy watching. It's just a shame we have to sit through HHH vs BIG DAVE 3. I guess they think the Hell in a Cell gimmick will make the match better. Hopefully HHH wont want to have another 45 min HIAC this year.

Well here are my thoughts:

The ECW Funeral - Longest segment of the night, basically a history lesson of ECW. Didn't do anything for me, except make me channel surf.

Edge-Batista - Solid match with good ending. No Kane which was a good turn. Save it for next week or the next. HHH staying off tv for only a week, good move for the build up of Vengeance, bad because they could have delayed it a week. Also predictable turn on Batista by Flair. Once he was down on his knees, you could just see the low blow coming

Decent show but nothing spectacular.

So, what exactly happened to Edge's second title shot? I mean he spent a whole month going through the tournament to earn it, and now that it might actually be useful, he doesn't bother.

Maybe he was just so scared of what HHH does to World Champions that he decided he'd be better off in the upper midcard.

That's a good point. Better yet, why not help HHH and Flair and just to a big gang beatdown on him?

So what was this big thing that Meltzer said we shouldn't miss?

He must have meant the drama about to unfold in Hardcore Discussion and/or the Site Feedback folder.

Everybody - come join in on the fun!

Not the worse Raw ever, but definately not the best. Granted it did have some good moments: Heyman/Vince/Bischoff promo was solid,Lita as a heel (I actually like her character as a heel more than as a face.), Viscera, and the unintentional comedy of Emo Kane. Other than that, there was the return of HHH, a way too short Benoit vs. Taijiri, and the fact that we are somehow suspossed to feel bad for Kane.

Thumbs in the middle.

Why wouldn't we feel bad for the poor fella. Aside from blackmailing Lita, Stalking her, and forcing her to marry him he's actually been great to her.

Viscera dropping his pants and humping Coach I can only assume.

Vis playing with his food.

Edge not capitalizing on his MITB title shot after Trips killed Batista just about wasted any potential he had to do anything worthwhile from here on out. He couldn't beat Batista with 2 guys running interference on his behalf, and there's not a chance in hell he'll be lined up to face HHH once reign 11 starts at Vengeance. They may as well just move him to SD and just bury him in the (upper) midcard there with all of the other talented guys who aren't going anywhere any time soon.

Well thank god they reminded me, because since Trips wasn't there last week, I forgot he's what the show revolves. Thank you WWE.

I don't mean to sound bitter, but that was a shit finish. The only good thing is that it made the champion look good. But then he looked like a chump for trusting Flair. And instead of capitalizing on *two* people who could be big time heels on either roster, we get Triple H so unpredictably coming back.

It woulda been cool if Edge (new champ), Christian, Tomko, and FLAIR (all dressed in black) formed an alliance, with Lita as valet.

Forcing Triple H and Batista to allign and battle the upstarts all summer.

But I guess burying Edge and having a 55 or however year old man kick CC and Tomko's ass, and then doing "GRRRR, Triple H ANGRY! Hell in a Cell!" was better.

Raw sucks.

I think we're supposed to feel sorry for Kane because after all the times he's been betrayed by people he cared about, he finally found someone who really cared about him even after doing what he did to Lita and Matt. But after finding out that he was just being used, he gets all depressed and "emo" (whatever the fuck that means).

Raw Thoughts:

Why did WWE put the two of the worst actors on RAW together as a couple and proceed to have them cut a fifteen minute long promo?

Why do they think people will care about Chris Masters if all he does is beat up jobbers and people in the audience?

Why does Sylvan Grenier appear on TV every week?

Why am I supposed to care about Jericho if he himself doesn't?

Does Vince really have big pots full of money?

Why did the ECW rules match contain plastic trash cans and the same "garbage wrestling" that Paul just said ECW wasn't about?

Why did Todd no-sell Kane's request to be alone by slowly making his way out of the locker room?

Why was I entertained by Viscera? Why did he hump Coach?

Why can't the "hot new heel" Edge + Christian + Tomko not get the job done against Batista?

Is there a REASON why the do the same Flair angle every year, and why don't any of the faces realize that it's a trick?

Did you not see him get his ass beat? How was he in the condition to use, or even announce that he was going to use it? He was pretty much out after the powerbomb.

With the 'fantasy booking' people have been doing, with him taking Batista out with a weapon, and then using the shot, it made sense, but with what happened tonight, it would have made no sense for him to use the title shot. Hell..he couldn't.

Does Vince really have big pots full of money?

I like to imagine him having a whole vault of money (mostly change) that he just swims in ala Ducktales.

I was kind of hoping that Flair wouldn't do the turn, but once he set himself up RIGHT behind Batista, that hope was gone. I actually thought that FINALLY Flair would realize HHH is using Flair, but once again, another heel turn.

Now I'm picturing Vince's face on the following two bodies...
