Just John Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 This would be a spin-off of the thread discussing the biggest surprises in wrestling. What events were supposed to be shocking, but no one was surprised one bit by them? Tazz debuting at the Royal Rumble 2000 Any of Ric Flair's fake face turns before he joins back up with HHH
snuffbox Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 All of Flair's turns on Sting. Curt Hennig turning on Flair Alot of Royal Rumble winners
Guest J0bber Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Batista leaving Evolution Any of Hogan's WCW returns after his departures
Youth N Asia Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Yeah, Flair's phony face turns with Orton and Dave were by no means "shockers"
Zetterberg is God Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Pretty much all of the WM title match winners were not surprising at all.
Dobbs 3K Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 John Cena being RAW's first draft pick this year, followed by Batista being Smackdown's last pick.
Youth N Asia Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Cena losing the US title to Orlando. Didn't make any sense for him to have it before winning the big one.
Placebo Effect Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Bastion Booger not headlining a Wrestlemania.
Vampiro69 Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Flair showing up on Raw after the day after the Invasion angle was finished. Big shock, the show was in Charlotte so it was not very surprising.
David Blazenwing Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Eddie turning on Rey earlier this year.
CanadianGuitarist Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Eddie turning on Rey earlier this year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, a guy at work and I were calling for it to be a swerve, and have Rey turn on Eddie, although I wasn't surprised when Eddie made the turn. Yeah, Flair's phony face turns with Orton and Dave were by no means "shockers" They could have at least made the suspense last longer than a week.
tommytomlin Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 William Regal turning on Angle and joining the Alliance on the 'biggest RAW ever'.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 HBK heel turn (yes, the current one).
Aero Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Vince being revealed as the Higher Power Paul Heyman turning on Brock at Survivor Series 02 Lita turning on Kane recently
snuffbox Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Lawrence Taylor beating Bam Bam at Wrestlemania 11.
Kahran Ramsus Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Chris Jericho jobbing at Wrestlemania XVIII. Chris Jericho jobbing at Wrestlemania XIX. Chris Jericho jobbing at Wrestlemania XX. Chris Jericho jobbing at Wrestlemania XXI. I'm beginning to see a pattern here.
The Mandarin Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Guerrero beating Brock Lesnar at NWO '04 Goldberg beating HHH at Unforgiven '03 JBL beating Booker T at Survivor Series this year
claydude14 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 I'd argue Wrestlemania 2000. HHH retaining was a huge suprise.
Youth N Asia Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 I wouldn't say HHH going over in 2000 was a huge suprise. But I gave him 50/50 to keep the belt
Papacita Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Austin's heel turn at WMX7 and even more so his joining the Alliance at Invasion. Although the timing surprised me a bit, I'll co-sign on the HBK turn from Monday because the fact that they've been teaming so much had me thinking that it'd only be a matter of time before Shawn turned on him...to the point that I was even looking for the Superkick when Hogan hit off the ropes for the leg drop. About 95% of the World Title changes since 2000.
hbkhhhmark4life Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Rock winning the title at Backlash 2000 Nash Beating Goldberg at Starrcade '98
Rendclaw Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Ric Flair regaining the title a week to a month after losing it. After the first two times that became my indication of what was wrong with NWA/WCW back in the day. Hogan retaining the title after about two years into his title reign. Of course he was WWF's then cash cow so it made sense to keep the title on him, but five years plus was a little bit much.
The Mandarin Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Oh yeah, the biggest non-suprise ever-- the brand split. That was discussed months and months before it actually happened.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Oh yeah, the biggest non-suprise ever-- the brand split. That was discussed months and months before it actually happened. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's because it kept getting pushed back. One of the first dates it was meant to happen was January 7th of 2002, but that turned into the night Hunter came back, and after that they kept putting the date back, and by the time it happened, everyone had been talking about it for months, and the surprise element was long gone.
