Album of the Year is always funny though, because who the hell notices when Paul McCartney puts out an album except for the Grammy committee.

Best Metal Peformance: Ministry - "The Great Satan" Mudvayne - "Determined" Rammstein - "Mein Teil" Shadows Fall - "What Drives The Weak" Slipknot - "Before I Forget" Ministry is, and always has been, industrial. Mudvayne is hard rock. Rammstein is borderline industrial, borderline metal, so I can see them being nominated. Shadows Fall is metalcore, a subcategory of metal, so I definitely see them here. Slipknot is shitty radio-friendly hard rock, and always has been. ...so, of course, Slipknot is going to win this...so it won't be the first time a non-metal band wins the Best Metal Grammy. Meh...I shouldn't care about this shit anymore, but it still sorta bugs me that the people to nominate songs usually don't even listen to the category of music they're nominating artists in.

Record goes to everyone involved in producing the song--performer, engineer, writer, etc. Song just goes to the songwriter for lyrics and music as writ.

Moby didn't get any nominations for Hotel this year, and when that's compared to the nominations other really horrible albums and songs got, it shows you just how bad and flat Hotel was. And I really like Moby (well, everything else).

Even the good reviews kind of briefly gloss over the fact that he's not very good at what he does

I tried to listen to it, and I really didn't see the appeal. I don't know what constitutes a classic rap album, though. I can't tell good production from bad production. I can tell that Kanye West isn't the best rapper, and he seems to say UNH! a lot. As I mentioned, even the reviews that are glowing make note of the fact that he's in over his head. It feels like he was deemed The Next Big Thing In Rap because somebody had to be. Just explain to me why this deserves its praise.
