Here's hoping for MASSIVE booing of Cena on tonights Raw !!

 

Wasn't it reported some months ago that Edge was not happy in the wwe, and this was before his title win

Bucking tradition and putting the Rumble 3rd from the top in order to give Under-fucking-Taker and his stupid sideshow theatrics the "real" main event slot was 13 shades of wrong.

 

Between Cena winning, Henry in the main event, and the prospect of UT retiring at WM undefeated AND world champion, I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in a Royal Rumble PPV. Not even Rey Rey eliminating HHH was enough.

What made it worst was that the Rumble had zero sense of drama or urgency. Mysterio, basically laid around the entire match. There was no big "OH BOY" spot, except maybe Flair/HHH and HHH/TBS. What was with the crowded ring and everytime some one of significance came out, that person hit/kick/something with everyone and then it stopped when the clock started counting again.

 

Mysterio, was perhaps the worst iron-man ever, which is weird because last year he was great. It had more "star-power" then usual but it still felt like the 1994 rumble.

 

Also, going back to the #1, #2 and #30 as the final three is so done. It was obvious as soon as Orton did his skit. Nothing about this rumble will be talked about in the future, except for being noted as the "mid-card" rumble and the one where the short guy won and got buried a month later.

So why is John Cena champ again? Why did they ever take it off of him in the first place?

For the last three weeks, Edge kept saying that he wouldn't go down as a "transitional champion." Cute attempt at trying to use insider lingo, but not really applicable here. A transitional champion is someone who has a short reign with a title for the express purpose of getting the belt from one wrestler to another without those two having to actually face each other.

 

So if Edge won the belt FROM Cena and then lost it BACK to him, exactly what transition was made?

Whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA, hold on a second, I must have missed the boat; when the hell did everyone start liking, let alone feel sympathetic for, of all people, Edge? You know, "heatless since the whole Matt Hardy feud, girlfriend stealing, slimy, repulsive Edge?" Yes, I must have missed the memo where he became a smark matyr. His title reign lasted a karmariffic three weeks and of those 21 odd days, 20 of them you all spent complaining about the guy. Wow, Cena must REALLY be that bad. And how the hell did HHH get dragged into all of this? I guess you all must have missed your HHH hate quota so it's time to ramp it up.

 

But I love the fact that Cena is champ again, I mean, he's lame as hell yes, but Edge. I mean, before he won the title, he was a heatless loser. Most of the initial markout moment you all experienced when he won the title was the relief that someone but Cena had it and how he won the title, which is more of a credit to creative than Edge himself. Well, let me just say, this could not have happened to a nicer guy.

The WON thread said HHH complained about Edge's current heel heat...which he has had lately. And ratings were up with him as champ. And Cena was finally a decent babyface reaction again while chasing Edge. Then, suddenly, Edge loses the belt back to Cena to set up the presumed HHH-Cena WM match.

 

Thats why theres a prob here with Edge losing...and a bit of blame on HHH.

Am I the only one who wondered why HHH "allowed" Edge to steal his spot and his heat?

 

So WWE has a guy who is a top draw, successful, money...MONEY.... and suddenly they take the title away from him? Why? Is there a rational reason to do it? Cena sells merchandaise but ratings and buyrates are more important, even for McMahon.

Again: Is there a rational reason to bury two top guys in one night?

 

Yes, there is, if you are Triple H.

Edge's career is over. Danger no. 1 removed.

Cena will be booed out of the builiding, HHH cheered, WM spot. Danger no. 2 cannon fodder.

 

This perfectly fits to his performance in the rumble which reminded me of the old dominant HHH who just didn't belong there because he is too powerful.

Then explain why ratings shot up dramatically since Cena dropped the title, The fans care about Edge. Maybe it was because they were just happy to see something fresh for once but now that Cena is back as champion, you WILL see ratings drop again.

 

That's a sentiment attached right now to Edge, who had been a success so far as champion, waited 10 years for the opportunity, was a very over heel the last couple months only to get it taken away because of Triple H's ego that can't be contained.

 

The reason the "HHH hate" is being ramped up is because that's why the title switch was made because Triple H knows HHH/Edge wouldn't and he has to be in the main event for Mania, which means they had to put the title back on Cena, despite Cena being a failure as champion.

 

Triple H didn't expect Edge to be this successful and instantly knew he had to abort it, even if it hurts the company (which hasn't stopped him before).

Edge was getting a lot of momentum as champion and it was really doing wonders with his Rated R Superstar gimmick.

All I'm saying about Edge is that he was receiving Randy Orton champion heat in 2004. Yeah, it got people talking, but only because it came out of nowhere. Once that wears off they are back to square one of devaluing their top babyface and heel. Yes, people Cena is their top babyface with the exception of Shawn Michaels. People are only cheering HHH because he is not hogging the damn title at the moment, but we all know the anvil will drop sometime.

I never said Edge's career is over, but everyone on the net seems to think so because he lost to John Cena of all people. Cena has gone over guys like Angle for crying out loud. Bruce Blank that is what they should do, but I agree with Black Lushus about the streak.

 

Dam(o)nYankees did Cena really fail miserably? He's not Hulk Hogan to the fans, but who is. He's the most over babyface they've had since Austin and Rock. Please show me someone else who's come close in the last couple of years. Brock was nowhere close. Orton wasn't either. The only guys who are really more over than Cena are HHH, HBK, Angle, and UT in terms of main event push. Those guys are all all-time greats.

Great Rumble. Everything else reeked.

 

I have just watched the Rumble match again. AFTER the title matches, the order it should be. And it comes off much better that way. There will be some negative perception of this Rumble due to the extraordinarily bad undercard. But this Rumble was actually better than last years, IMO.

 

The problem is with the dull middle portion. The first 20 minutes of the Rumble are great. Everything moves along nicely. The middle, well.. people come in, do a couple of moves, and then nothing really happens, though watching it again, I did feel more entertained. The crowd reaction for RVD and the amount of camera time he got was encouraging too.

 

The ending of the Rumble, the last 15 minutes or so are awesome, with a hot crowd. And I have to say, rewatching it, the pop Mysterio gets for winning is the lowdest I've heard in years. There's only three single pops in history that compare: Roddy Piper winning the IC Title at Royal Rumble 1992, Linda kicking Vince in the nuts at Mania X-Seven, and Mankind coming off the Cell.

 

People sit and write how Mysterio isn't a credible champion for his size. Well, right now, he looks and IS a credible Rumble winner because the match told a great story, and admittedly because they are capitalising on sympathy from Eddie's death.

 

So if he wins the World title in a match that is scripted to be believable in how he wins, what's wrong with that?

Eddie, easily. Ratings were higher during last summer thanks to Eddie. Eddie was a *key* part of WWE's biggest demographic and Eddie's merch sales were just as high. The quality was better. Basically Eddie did everything better then Cena, except handle the pressure.

Eddie Guerrero is true, however Eddie did not crossover like Cena has. I think they cut the legs of Eddie and it seems they don't want to do that with Cena. People are failing to realize Cena has been a dominating babyface champion since WM XX when he won the US title. Not even Eddie was babyface that long.

How is Cena a crossover star? Nobody knows about his movie...and his self-financed cd didnt sell well. Attendance was down, ratings were down, buyrates were down...and he was getting some serious X-Pac heat as a babyface world champion.

 

The wwe has had to mute the booing and supposedly show a fake crowd shot for him last night.

 

Its ok if your a big Cena mark...but be realistic.
