Simon Inoki at WWE Headquarters..

Recommended Posts

Either something to do with Brock, or some lame "working relationship" where New Japan sends over some stars to get buried in return for using such huge WWE superstars like Scotty 2 Hotty or Danny Basham.

jesus...the WWE can't even book their current stars correctly, they want to take on MORE? though getting Brock back may be exactly what they need right about now, just not sure which show.

It worked last time....they got Rico, A-Train, Jamal and WWE got the frozen emperor from WWII and his wife.

My inside sources have told me that he, because of his company losing money hand-over-fist,l is looking to sell New Japan to the WWE.

I guess he wants to increase his 24/7 library. If true, Brock can't escape the claws of Vince Mcmahon. He signed with the devil coming out of the ncaa :P

Please bring Brock back.

Why, so they can kill him dead with revenge booking? No way they put him over strong in any way after what he's tried to do to them legally. WWE won't look past that to do any business.

Beyond a re-match with Chris Benoit, what else is worth seeing Brock get revenge booked by the WWE? Shouldn't we be wanting to see the real Brock Lesnar? Not the watered down WWEized version?

We're waiting to see if there was untapped potential in Lesnar that was rescricted by the WWE and if he returns to WWE, we will always wonder "what if?".

WWE isn't a smart business when it comes to putting ego aside of pratical business sense.

There's nothing to gain for Brock Lesnar to come back except american exposure and that exposure will be him getting jobbed or treated like a joke.

So what did the article say?

Simon Inoki arrives at WWE Headquarters

Feb. 9, 2006

Today at noon, New Japan Pro Wrestling President Simon Inoki arrived in Stamford, CT, to meet with WWE Officials. WWE.com will have more details on Inoki's meeting with WWE as soon as they become available.

"Antonio Inoki met with Saddam Hussein for the release of prisoners from Iraq before the Gulf War. As is the traditional gift for a visiting head-of-state, Saddam gave Inoki a pair of golden swords".

Is Simon following in his father's (in-law? I seem to recall hearing Simon took the Inoki name when he married someone instead of vice-versa) footsteps and coming to negotiate the release of prisoners of the WWE?

That is called ring rust. Not "losing your ability".

The links above you still work. Still no new news on why Inoki was there. Also, here is the latest from the Observer regarding Brock...

"They've also reported Simon Inoki, the president of New Japan, was at WWE headquarters today. Don't know why, but we should have something later. I'd guess it has to do with the Brock Lesnar case. Judge Christopher Droney has yet to rule after both sides gave their arguments yesterday. Both sides were in lengthy settlement meetings before making their arguments, but couldn't come to an agreement."

Ok, the first link is dead, the second one works, but I don't see the link actually on WWE.com anymore. Here is the latest update:

After several hours of meeting with Simon Inoki, John Laurinaitis, Vice President of Talent Relations for WWE, remains optimistic about developing a working relationship with the President of New Japan Pro Wrestling.

“We talked about a variety of topics, including the Japanese wrestling market and the domestic wrestling market,” said Laurinaitis. “We also talked about different opportunities between WWE and Japan. I wish his company the best of luck in the future, and chances are that there will be another meeting between us scheduled soon.”

I don't know if Rudo was being facetious, but I doubt that the meeting could have been about selling New Japan to the WWE. Yukes owns NJPW, I don't think Inoki really has much to do with that end.

A working relationship with the WWE wouldn't bring anything good. Unless people are clamoring for an Undertaker / Manabu Nakanishi match or something.

Just look at Brock's romantic interest (are they still together?) and you'll see why maybe that won't be the truth necessarily.
