bob_barron 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 I really wish it had come out when it was supposed to, since Remember Remember the 5th of November is such a bad-ass tagline.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 16, 2006 This movie already has the right-wing talk shows all a-twitter. Yay for free publicity. This looks great. Hugo Weaving teaming up with the Wachowskis and Natalie Portman in the first can't-miss blockbuster of 2006. I'm psyched.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 what's the premise for this movie? isn't it based on a comic book?
Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 Fascist England. Anarchist terrorist/hero who wears a Guy Fawkes mask. TSM poster Justice had the hero in his avatar at one point. Dunno if he still does. Question: Does this come out today?

CBright7831 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 Ebert said it's one of the best super hero films of all time along with Spider-man 2 and Batman Begins. EDIT - I aplogize, this is what Ebert really wrote: "Movies based on comic books are getting more thoughful and challenging in their stories. And after Batman Begins and Spider-Man 2, V for Vendetta is one of most intriquing so far." http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/v_for_vendetta/

Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 I'm definitely gonna have to scrape up the cash and see this one. I haven't felt like paying to see a movie at a theather in a long while. This movie may change that.

CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 There is an IMAX showing it not too far from me. I saw Batman Begins there and it was incredible. I'll be going that route. Read the comic this week. A good read. If it's really loyal to the comic it's not as much of an action film as the teasers would make you think. The speeches alone are worth the price of admission. Jingus 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 According to Ebert's review, the comic's original writer Alan Moore has disowned this movie. And I don't blame him. He's quite possibly the greatest comic book writer in history, but look at the films that they've made out of his works: The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell, Constantine, and the various Swamp Thing opuses. Hollywood has consistently taken his books, which were incredibly deep and intellectual, and turned them into dumbass action thrillers. I'd be pissed too. Mole 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 My screenwriting Prof, Mike Atkinson, who writes for the Villiage Voice, said it was one of the worse movies he has ever seen. When you have one character whose mouth and has these long ass speeches, you get a tad bit bored.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 Really enjoyed Alan Moore's comic. From what I understand, despite Moore's stance on it (he's perpetually cranky, i dont think anything would ever please him), its actually very faithful. i can pick out most all the scenes from the trailer and the comic. Jingus 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 My screenwriting Prof, Mike Atkinson, who writes for the Villiage Voice, said it was one of the worse movies he has ever seen. Anyone who names any movie that has come out in the past 20 years as "worst ever" clearly needs to watch more Mystery Science Theater, because there were movies back in the day where they literally couldn't even keep the camera focused on whatever it was pointing at. Yeah, Battlefield Earth was fucking lame, but it looks like a masterpiece when you compare it to something like Manos: The Hands of Fate or anything Ed Wood ever did. Special K 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 "Well sir.... I don't like it." Constantine was a pleasant surprise to me. It would be nigh-impossible to actually have a faithful Hellblazer or Moore-era Swamp Thing movie. God, did they ever fuck the dog with LXG, though. That one would NOT have been that hard to faithfully adapt at all. Some of the obscure references would be lost, but it's a straight-up good adventure yarn. You have to have hyde eatting people and ripping them the fuck apart.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 I went and saw the early showing of it and I enjoyed it. Some people around me were saying it strayed from the comic a bit, but I didn't know if that was true or what exactly did stray.
