Anyone here ever watch a live event in a movie theater? Is it worth the extra money? None of the theater's here do Wrestling PPVs or things like that so I haven't gone to anything yet, but I was amazed to see the local Regal theater is carrying the DCI quarter finals on August 10th so I couldn't resist buying tickets.

In Forrest Gump, did Jenny die of AIDS? And if-so, does that meant Forrest and Forrest Jr. have AIDS?

Jenny died of AIDS. She mentions that Forest Jr. was tested and was fine. I guess that does mean that Forest Sr should get tested.

I think the test was for learning disability. She may have contracted the virus during that period after she slept with Forrest and had Forrest Jr.

ABC's American Idol ripoff, The One has been cancelled after two weeks. It's premiere had the lowest ratings for a series premiere on a big four network since 1990 (And that show in 1990 was on Fox which was an infant network back then).

'Tis a shame as me and my father bonded in mocking the sub-American Idol contestants on the show and the judges they seemingly pulled out of nowhere.

Here's an exact piece of dialogue

Contestant after warbling "The Weight" goes to hear criticism from show's Randy Jackson ripoff.

Judge: Man I nevah even heard that joint before but you sure took a load off of Annie. Man that was hot!

White judge gets mad at him for not having ever heard "The Weight"

After just seeing Volver and having seen every film that he has done in the last 20 years, I have to just go ahead and say it. Pedro Almodóvar is the best fucking director alive and the best one in modern cinema. There. I put it out there.

I will only accept critisizm of Atame and Kinka. Besides that you will love his films, rather you like it or not.

Is anyone watching Vanished, after Prison Break? I missed the first episode, but caught the second one. I just can't take the main actor that seriously. Especially considering his previous gig (Queer as Folk - my hatred for which has nothing to do with it's gayness.. but more with the fact that it seems to have been written by 12 year-olds and for the other fact that my ex was ridiculously obsessed with this show when we were together).

Kevin Federline was signed to do an episode of CSI and 3 episodes of Entourage for the fourth season. Looks like I am going to be boycotting both shows due to them signing this douchebag.

For Bob Barron!

The Duff Sisters' shit-fest "Material Girls" has moved into an 8-way tie for the 2nd worst movie of all-time, according to IMDB.

It shares its horrid script and acting with such winners as "From Justin to Kelly", "Santa With Muscles", "Baby Geniuses 2", "Going Overboard", "Phat Girlz", "Zoom", and "3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain". Two Hogan stinkers!

"Oh no, not even our multiple acting coaches for a Disney TV show of all things could help us! WAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like, we sure suck sis!"

"No no I need u to b popular, OMG, what will my sister's, I mean my 7th Heaven fans think?"

Look out Troll 2, you're next!

Has anyone else seen Robert Altman's Short Cuts?

Considering Magnolia is one of my favorite movies, the comparisons were inevitable. Some are obvious, like the large ensemble cast interacting with each other in a relatively short time frame, recurring themes drawing the characters together, and the "freak occurrence" endings.

Still, Altman's took a bit longer for me to get into, and featured characters that were slightly more unlikeable (which isn't a bad thing necessarily; they were actually more realistic). But there wasn't a character I really wanted to cheer for, like John C. Reilly in Magnolia.

Anyway, both films are definitely recommended on all accounts, even if PT Anderson's feels awfully self-indulgent at times.

This was my first Altman film. How do his others compare to this one?

I got "The Tick" season one today. It was expesnive, but worth it, since I love the show. I'm a bit disappointed that "Tick vs. The Mole Men" isn't included, as well as the lack of special features. It's still worth it, as I now have "The Tick vs. Chairface Chippendale" on DVD. Oh, and"The Tick vs. The Tick" is my favorite episode ever. "Put It In The Happy Box!"

The new 2-Disc edition of "Street Trash" is great.

Is that the season with Little Wooden Boy? How about Speak?

Little Wooden boy is on season two, Speak is from season three.

I finally saw Snakes on a Plane. That money could have gone towards food or medicine or books for children or something.

Agreed. And if you look past the ridiculous premise, the acting outside of the three name actors (Sam Jackson, Juilianna Marguiles, Bobby Cavale) was just atrocious. The guy who was playing the witness was just laughably bad.

The only person I knew already in that whole movie was Samuel Jackson. That that dumbfuck EXTREEEEEEME punk didn't end up dying at the end was the last straw. The one thing that could have possibly satisfied me at that point, and the movie just does a big tease. And the goober eventually got some with that younger girl that worked on the plane. There's absolutely no justice.
