YourKock'sReallyGreat 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2009 I just started watching 24 via Netflix. I already watched the first 7 episodes of season 1 in the last 2 days. I am trying to figure out why the fuck I waited almost 8 years to get into this show. Especially when I love episodic television (Heroes, Lost, Prison Break, The Wire, etc). muzz 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 Brad Pitt is at $21 to win best actor, is it worth a few dollars on him? Heath Ledger is also at $1.05 to win best supporting. I didn't think his odds would be that good, but this is an Aussie site.
Boon 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 I got sucked into watching Meet the Spartans this week. And it really REALLY made me feel like I could write a movie. I understand that the reference movies that are out just go for the lowest form of comedy...but the crapper was an hour long and didn't have a real laugh in it. Honestly I'm tossing around the idea of trying to write something after seeing this major piece of shit I thought Not Another Teen Movie was at least passable, but everything after that has been terrible. CBright7831 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2009 So far Heath was won a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, a SAG, and Film Critics Choice Award. BTW, I just noticed that Back to the Future is being re-released on DVD this Tuesday and they will be available seperate. Thank God I can get the first one (which I love) and not worry about the other two. (which are meh). Are there any specs on the DVD?

They're just the same as the box set from years ago, with the same extras and everything. Speaking of film series that have seperated each film for individual releases, I just picked up the deluxe editions of Friday the 13th (Unrated cut on BluRay) and then part 2 (which has a remastered in HD picture and 5.1 sound) and part 3 (which is in 3-D, comes with glasses). Looking forward to watching these again to lead to next weekend. Appears to be some really great extras on these discs that wasn't in the previous Friday the 13th box set from a few years back. The only thing I didn't get was why they didn't re-release part 2 or 3 with extra footage to make it unrated like the first one.

Honestly I'm tossing around the idea of trying to write something after seeing this major piece of shit I thought Not Another Teen Movie was at least passable, but everything after that has been terrible. Those guys, Seltzer and Friedberg, had nothing to do with Not Another Teen Movie. (What's with this common assumption that all the parody movies are made by the same people? Everyone seemed to think that Superhero Movie was made by the same guys too.) They worked as part of large writing teams on Spy Hard and the first Scary Movie, and then somehow turned that into a directing career with Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Disaster Movie. And I just saw MtS recently myself. Good lord, these guys are the most consistently incompetent fuckers working in Hollywood today.

cd213 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2009 I problem with FRIDAY THE 13th special edition, is Paramont fucked up the release. They cropped the shots, so it zooms in on the images. It looks nice, but just weird how the shots are zoomed. HIS NAME WAS JASON also came out last Tuesday, and is a great documentary. It's a history of the series with interviews with pretty much everyone involved, and a ton of extras, in fact it's 2 discs worth of extras. Extended interviews and fan movies. Worth the $14.99 from FYE.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2009 I heard James Rolfe was interviewed for that. I could probably mention this in the actual movie thread but while I'm here, why is it being called "Friday the THIRTEEN" in ads? Is it not cool to add "th" to dates now? Maybe I'm just hearing it wrong, but I swear they dropped the 'th'.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2009 Eh... sometimes that can be valid. I watched 2 minutes of "Life on Mars" on Showcase and could not understand a word being said, despite the fact it was English. It was just British English. And why was Obama preempting Sweeps Month TV programming? Some nerve on that guy. Couldn't have done an address during the day, buddy?

The dumbest thing I've ever heard in regards to films/actors was in line for Tropic Thunder, and two girls looked at the poster, pointed at Robert Downey Jr and said: Girl 1: Oh it's him from Iron Man Girl 2: I didn't know he was black, he was white in Iron Man. YourKock'sReallyGreat 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 I am almost finished with Season 1 of 24. What an awesome show. My questions for those who watch it is. What is the best season and the worst season? How is season 7 so far? Please no spoilers. How many more seasons are there going to be? I would ask in the main season 7 thread but I do not want to spoil anything. thanks.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 I have been wondering why the new Captain Kirk looks familiar to me on previews and posters for the new Star Trek. The other day, I came across why he looked familiar to me: It's funny cause he is blind...literally... and dating. DISCLAIMER: I apologize if it has been pointed out before. I have zero Star Trek knowledge, so I haven't looked any stuff about it. I just find it funny that this was probably the guy's biggest role before taking on iconic part. Kind of like watching Darth Vader in Jingle All the Way...

How is season 7 so far? Please no spoilers. How many more seasons are there going to be? I would ask in the main season 7 thread but I do not want to spoil anything. thanks. I'm back and forth between season 1 and 5 being the best. The only season I'd even consider bad is season 6, but it's worth watching at least once if you plan on catching up with the current season. The first four episodes of season 6 are really good, and then it dies, with the exception of one episode toward the later part of the season. I've been enjoying season 7 so far. It hasn't been near season 1 or 5 levels of greatness, but it's far from the worst. Everyone in the other thread seems to be in agreement that the episode that just aired was awesome for the most part. Kiefer Sutherland is signed on to an 8th season. I assume that'll probably be it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more added.
