I predict no Oscar.

I think that is a safe bet no matter how good it looks. Also watching the trailer made me think was this film produced by F.A.G.?

Scorcese's Dicaprio love-fest continues. I just can't buy that guy as the "bad-ass" he keep being casted as. A shame too, because he was seemingly a hot young talent when he was younger, but he never seemed to grow into a guy who properly fit these adult roles.

Probably because he still looks like the kid from Growing Pains.

Well it's also more then his look, it is his voice, to me when he tries to takes these "tough guy" roles, the deliver of his lines seems so forced, his natural voice is kind of whiny sounding when he yells or gets loud, so when he has to do the NY accent or some tough guy stuff it just sounds artificial.

I remember reading something somewhat interesting and funny last year on this movie while it was being filmed:

Jack Nicholson helped re-write the script for his new movie with legendary director Martin Scorsese, because he felt the sex scenes needed spicing up....According to reports, the actor wanted to make his character - an Irish-American gangster - a little more like himself, and more of an animal in the bedroom. A source tells the New York Daily News, "Jack didn't feel there was enough Jack in his character. Jack actually did some of the writing himself." The insider adds of the sex scenes, "Jack suggested using a (prosthetic appendage). He also wanted to dust the ass of one of the actresses with cocaine. Marty said, 'Go for it!'" A Warner Bros spokesman adds, "It's not at all uncommon for dialogue to be fine-tuned during production. Everyone is extremely pleased with the way this shoot is proceeding."

I don't know why, but I just find that so funny.

Anyway, I'm looking foward to this flick. It seems like Marty is going back to his Goodfellas days.

Beuh ... He has not play that much of bad-ass role. Only in Gangs of New-York where he was good.

I can't stand DiCaprio, but the movie has Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Anderson, AND Alec Baldwin. Talk about a nice all-star cast! I saw the trailer too, it looks really good!

I wouldn't call Anthony Anderson all star talent and Alec Baldwin is a has been never will be. That being said, I am looking forward to seeing this movie.

He was fantastic in Glengary Glenn Ross and more recently in The Cooler. He just needs the right role and he shines.

See this movie IMMEDIATELY. Believe all of the hype from the reviews, etc. DiCaprio shocked the hell out of me, and the rest of the actors did what they do best. Especially Marky Mark. There are definitely a shitload of intense moments, and Jack Nicholson plays with a strap-on. What more could you want?

Being Scorsese, of course there's also a tremendous soundtrack. Naturally, "Gimme Shelter" is in it. As is a really appropriate Dropkick Murphys song that I have to find.

Some reviewer said it was Scorsese's best since Casino and I'd be hard pressed to disagree.

Nicholson's role will go down in the pantheon of great Jack Nicholson roles.

Go see this movie!

The guy in my local (Charlotte, NC) paper shit all over it, giving it ** out of *****. That almost steered me away from seeing it, but after four positive reviews from you guys I'm heading out ASAP to see it.

You were going to let some hack reviewer from some NC newspaper make up your mind? There is a reason why the reviewer is doing some small town newspaper in NC and not the NY Times or LA Times. I hate when people make up their mind based off of one review. My friend would only get cd's that were rated 4 stars or plus by Rolling Stone magazine.

Absolutely the movie of the year so far. I was jolted within the first 5 minutes (should've know better it being Scorsese) and I was not disappointed. The film has more twists and turns than I thought were coming, but nothing that felt false or incoherant. Seriously, everyone in the film was top notch, even the smoking grandma.

I'd say theater was 1/2 full for a 7:15 showing, so it'll probably #2 (I accept that Texas Chainsaw will go #1), let the word of mouth carry this film to the response it deserves.
