Conspiracy_Victim Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 You people would have fuckin complained no matter what happened. No, I would've been perfectly happy with a clean pin or minimal interference. Instead you get "OMG THE McMAHONS SKROOD HGHH AGAIN!"
cabbageboy Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I said it earlier today, but it bears repeating. This Umaga stuff is so tedious because at the end of the day we all know 100% that it's a dead end push. At some critical point, say a match with Hogan or a major PPV title shot, they're going to just job Umaga out so there really isn't any point to this stuff. Let's face it, they have now jobbed out Flair, Cena, HBK, and HHH to Umaga and the guy still hasn't sniffed any aspect of being over on his own merits. Yes, I know Armando is kinda over but he'd be over regardless of whatever loser he was managing. It's easy to see they are wanting to make Umaga the WWE version of Samoa Joe with this streak and all. But Joe is about 10x better as a wrestler and has had awesome matches that he has won in clean and dominant fashion.
iggymcfly Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Since no one mentioned it, I just want to say that the Samoan Spike looks terrible as an out of nowhere finisher. I honestly didn't know that he even hit it until I heard JR start spazzing out.
ChrisMWaters Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 You people would have fuckin complained no matter what happened. Well, the sadistic side of me would have been happy if both Hunter and Vince tore their quads again and couldn't make it to Summerslam....

You would curse us with an overly stipulated HBK vs Shane-O match? *gives you the evil eye*

Just John Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I'm starting to think WWE taped about 15 different Raw's back in June at the same time, and just decided to air them in random order with replays edited in. This week's show again was completely interchangeable with any show over the last 2 months. Well, not quite... I guess Foley did finally accept Flair's challenge. That's a development, I suppose. This week's show was also boring. Very boring. And the diva diss? I wish Christy, Amy, and Carmella showed to rip into these new girls. At least the crowd shit all over this one. In two years we've gone from "Cum guzzling gutter slut" to some weird cat promo. Actually, no matter how much I complained about the first diva search, I'd rather watch the whole thing on loop for 10 hours than see just one segment of this 06 incarnation again.
cabbageboy Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I think Raw is the weakest WWE produced show at the moment. ECW is only 1 hour so I don't change the channel (despite the crowd's urging) since there's at least an immediacy to the show. SD has nothing overly offensive on it aside from the Chavo/Rey stuff, which I actually find fairly interesting. I guess I do change the channel during the Diva crap, but I did at least watch the 30 second clips this past week. But Raw? I saw Orton vs. Lawler on my TV? Change the channel. Diva elimination segment? Keep it changed. The first Diva contest was a masterpiece compared to the last two. I actually was hoping for an Umaga run in so he could wipe them all out.
Guest DRH 502 Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I guess it goes without saying ya'll aren't fans of Lawler's work? Weird. Most smart marks seem to appreciate his uncanny ability to whip the Memphis crowds into a riotous frenzy...
Jaxxson Mayhem Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Did Flair really just try to talk into a book????
Jaxxson Mayhem Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Ughhhhhhhhhhhh.... That "Diss The Diva" was ULTRA lame.... It's funny that the Miz had to tell em what they couldn't say... e.g. the "We'll have Diss The Diva in just a moment"
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I guess it goes without saying ya'll aren't fans of Lawler's work? Weird. Most smart marks seem to appreciate his uncanny ability to whip the Memphis crowds into a riotous frenzy... I think most Smarks are fans of Lawler's work. It's just they're fans of his work from 10-plus years ago. Dude can work a crowd though. Especially a Memphis crowd or an ECW one.
Wrestlefreak Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 The only good things about this week's crap Raw were: 1) HHH's spinebuster on Umaga. 2) Edge's spear on Trish. 3) Kane's chokeslam on Shelton. 4) Foley on the microphone. Everything else about the show was crap. The diva search feels like it's never gonna go away. Vince and Shane's opening segment wasn't funny at all. Shawn's segment was a rehash of last week's Cuban cigar thing. Like somebody else said in this thread, Raw is going nowhere. Raw sucks! Smackdown rocks!
cabbageboy Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Oh, make no mistake. Lawler is a God of Wrestling in my book. Hell, I'm from Louisville. I grew up on old school Memphis and USWA. Which is why I flat out turned the channel rather than watch Lawler go out in Memphis and job to Orton. Hell, I even defend Jeff Jarrett to some extent due to liking him on the USWA from 1988-93.
razazteca Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I guess it goes without saying ya'll aren't fans of Lawler's work? Weird. Most smart marks seem to appreciate his uncanny ability to whip the Memphis crowds into a riotous frenzy... It was not a southern brawl with blood and his opponet doesn't know how to throw a proper punch and this is WWE where everthing is diluted down to 10% orginality. What can you expect when you clash the product of the single served cookie cutter generic wrestler up against the ancient southern brawler that knows nothing but punches and neither one wants to sell?
Dobbs 3K Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 The problem wasn't the matchup or the result...it was just way too short. Lawler's style isn't desgined for a sub-5 minute match. I did like Lawler's white outfit. Getting back to the comment about Umaga's finisher earlier...I think the problem was the camera didn't really catch his finisher very well. We didn't see him set up for it all, just him connecting very quickly. It looks like a clothesline or something that he hit HHH with.
The Metal Maniac Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I hate that the Samoan Spike has changed a bunch of times. Originally it was a submission hold, then a strike, at one point it was practically a chokeslam, now it's a clothesline with his thumb out. Hell, my buddy didn't even know he'd hit the spike; he thought he beat HHH with a clothesline.
The Niggardly King Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 It's funny. Umaga has now gone over basically everyone on the Raw roster, and is STILL booked so that he'd lose to HHH's spinebuster without help. I'd also like if they hyped up Umaga at the end more, since he's defeated Cena, Michaels, and now 10-time World Champion, Triple H... yet he gets swept aside for more DX/McMahon crap. The best verison of the Spike is when he tosses them in the air, and catches them with it on the way down.
Just John Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 It's funny. Umaga has now gone over basically everyone on the Raw roster, and is STILL booked so that he'd lose to HHH's spinebuster without help. I thought this was odd too. I actually thought something similar would happen, only with the pedigree. When was the last time HHH beat anyone with his spine buster?
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Don't forget Shelton's kickass springboard bulldog to Kane from behind as Kane was doing his "ringpost pyro" deal at the beginning. That had to be difficult with the arena so dark and only the "creepy red light" to see the top rope.
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 The best verison of the Spike is when he tosses them in the air, and catches them with it on the way down. Agreed. I was hopin' he would start using that version all the time when he first did it. And that Flair pic in your sig is great, but the best part is the photographer in the lower right hand corner's facial expression. He's all," Shit, Flair is fuckin' hammered." He's so stunned at the awesomeness of it all that he forgot to take a picture.
UZI Suicide Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 It's funny. Umaga has now gone over basically everyone on the Raw roster, and is STILL booked so that he'd lose to HHH's spinebuster without help. Triple H jobbed to a thumb.
Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Dark Matches/Heat Matches taped before Raw: Harry Smith defeated an unknown jobber. OVW's GangStars (Shad Gaspard & The Neighborhoodie) defeated Rob Conway & Charlie Haas. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch defeated Val Venis & Gene Snitsky. Matt Striker defeated an unknown jobber. Eugene & "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan defeated Derrick King & OVW's Charles Evans. The Spirit Squad (Kenny Doane & Nicky Nemeth) defeated Adam Barber & an unknown jobber.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Triple H lost to Umaga but Umaga was not put over at all. Umaga would have lost if not for Vince pulling the referee out and he only hit his big move when Triple H was distracted. Hunter did the job, but there is a big difference between doing a job for someone and putting them over.
UZI Suicide Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I just rewatched RAW - did anyone else see this? There was a moment during the Flair promo, when he was holding a mic and Foley's book. He threw down the mic, and started talking into the book.

He threw down the mic, and started talking into the book. That was by far the best part of RAW.......... Also did anyone notice when Melina did the splits on the table..........was it just me or did Johnny Nitro stick his finger between her ass cheeks and run it up her thong......cause it sure looked like he did.
milliondollarchamp Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 I cant stop watching Edge spearing Trish that shit was wicked one thing that i am going to miss about Trish is how well she sells bumps she does it better then some of the guys on the roster. What was with JR saying Edge showed no remorse it sure looked like he did it looked like he broke kayfabe because he though he hurt trish.
