Justice Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 "Where did you get her?" Go Toby! Creed's 'gift' was awesome. But Michael was almost unbearable. Like, he was funny, but man I had a hard time looking at the screen when he was doing his 'thing'. I'm surprised Bob didn't kick him out sooner.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Scrantonicity! Leave it to these writers to take a big joke and actually pick painfully appropriate Police songs at all the right moments.
Craig Th Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Ryan knocks the bouquet away from Kelly! Downhome, gif please. And that was a great episode. Michael Scott at his finest.
Special K Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 I'm sorry, I have to go against the grain here. There were some pretty funny moments (mostly courtesy of Dwight), and some sweet ones (Pam&Roy, Dwight & Angela, awww) However, while Michael has been oblivious, attention-starved, inconsiderate, and at times just stupid, he has never appeared to be literally retarded. I mean, interrupting wedding vows? We're treading on Homer Simpson territory here. I hope it's not the beginning of a trend. Just cheap and lazy. ON the plus side? First episode of the Office that I've actually actively disliked. But man, that was bad.
DrVenkman PhD Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 I really enjoyed the episode but Michael was becoming a bit much. However, him shoving Albert back into the wheelchair was incredibly awesome. All of the other funny stuff I remember - Creed, Dwight's take on Wedding Crashers/Grizzlyman, etc. - have already been mentioned. Oh, Michael getting replaced by a dog at his mom's 2nd wedding was gold.
bob_barron Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 Michael was a bit much, but at least he got redeemed in the end. Him interrupting too early and shoving the guy back in the chair were hilarious. Dwight was awesome again
Special K Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Michael has usually been portrayed as a man of average intelligence, but socially incapable. And he usually has the best intentions at heart. This reminds me of the only other Office episode I'll probably never rewatch: The Yankee Swap. In that episode Michael was such a callow, mean-spirited prick. It's a really funny episode, but it's incredibly hard to watch. I must admit, I TOTALLY marked out for Skrantonicity.
bob_barron Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 Michael likes being the centre of attention, and when he's not, he turns into a prick. That's happened several times before.
Spaceman Spiff Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Dwight was awesome again Yeah, he's was on point this episode: -that little smirk he gave the camera after "bouncing" Michael -"we need another plague." -Pavlov's Dwight -the Schrute's wedding/funeral traditions
Special K Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Michael likes being the centre of attention, and when he's not, he turns into a prick. That's happened several times before. No doubt, but as I said, this was especially awful. Still love the show!
DrVenkman PhD Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Dwight was awesome again Yeah, he's was on point this episode: -that little smirk he gave the camera after "bouncing" Michael -"we need another plague." -Pavlov's Dwight -the Schrute's wedding/funeral traditions Thank you! All morning I was thinking "there's a really funny Dwight quote I want to mention" but I couldn't think of it. The more I reflect on the matter, I think Michael was ok. Like bob said, he wanted someone else's wedding to be about him but it failed. Michael also had a truamatic wedding experience as a kid, so maybe that messed him up a bit too. His line about how important an opening line is, but "with time, I like to try 3 or 4" was pretty funny too.
Dobbs 3K Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Michael was a bit over the top, but overall this was another hilarious episode. Kind of weird they haven't mentioned Michael's own relationship for the past couple episodes.
DrVenkman PhD Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 It's apparently a plot point in two weeks.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 The Season 2 Christmas episode.
Craig Th Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Yankee Swap? The X-Mas episode, one of my favorite. The one with the iPod. And does everyone realize there are only 6 episodes left?? Unless they are doing more than 22.
bob_barron Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 I think they take a break for a while like they did last season. I remember they did something with Carell's contract so he could take time off and do movies
KingPK Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 If there's one character on this show that I absolutely can't stand, it's Kelly. The only reason she's around is because I guess they need someone for Ryan to play off of. She doesn't gel with any of the other characters at all and I wouldn't mind at all if she is written off the show entirely.
Special K Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Yeah, she's just sorta a sweet ditz. But she's one of the writers. She ain't going nowhere.
treble Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Dwight was awesome again Yeah, he's was on point this episode: -that little smirk he gave the camera after "bouncing" Michael -"we need another plague." -Pavlov's Dwight -the Schrute's wedding/funeral traditions -"You look as beautiful as the Queen of England."
ZGangsta Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 I loved that episode. Yeah Michael was a bit over the top, but we've seen that in the past where he gets so caught up in something that he forgets all the barriers that prevent him from becoming a complete prick. Ryan throwing up the block on the bouquet was amazing.
Pegasus Kid Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 This was a great episode dragged kicking and screaming into garbage by Michael's extended bouts of stupidity. As brought up earlier, he was portrayed like an absolute idiot rather than someone who's socially inept. I couldn't even watch his speech after about 30 seconds and fast forwarded through it. Everything else was clicking on all cylinders though, and it's a good thing because left up to Michael, the episode would have been trash on a pretty high level.
treble Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 I'm afraid they're going to write themselves into a corner with the Jim and Pam stuff. There are only so many times you can flip it around and put the characters with different people. That being said, I'm loving Roy this season.
A Happy Medium Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 Roy has been very likable this season. In all honesty, I'm rooting for Roy to beat Jim to the punch again, if he already didn't.
Youth N Asia Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 Yeah, I'm sure Roy will get back with Pam, only to do some dicky thing again to break them up. Then if they don't hook Pam and Jim up then they may never. Since the basketball episode I've been wanting to see Jim and Roy fight
bobobrazil1984 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 that's hilarious, though I do think Ryan is a big pussy if he can't even break up with her while he supposedly doesn't like her. I think they should at least acknowledge in a confessional with Ryan that she gives great sex or something, so there's an actual reason he's with her.
