Not as good as last week. Still funny, but the Jim/Pam stuff just feels...mandatory?

Stanley was great in this one, though. Good old Stanley. He likes the pretzels.

I thought it was a good episode. The characters from the other office are taking shape a little bit, Michael was good in his limited role, and I thought the Jim/Pam thing was just right. They were still really glad to talk to each other for a while, but they've also got other things in their life, and aren't necessarily eager to start a relationship. They did a good job of not having the eager sense from last season, and are instead just friends that live in different cities.

Ryan revealing that he was in a frat is the least surprising thing in the shows history.

Yeah, the only problem is that they seem to have no story arc for Ryan's character. He is in business school at night, but was in college in a frat? Minor nitpicking I know, but that's my only complaint.

The Dwight & Ryan scenes were great, especially with the cousin.

Good stuff in that episode. Dwight admitting Michael hurts his feelings was a nie touch. Though I highly doubt there is any relation, Ryan sitting in the farmhouse while Dwight was talking about fear (complete with casket!) reminded me of the Jake Roberts / Ultimate Warrior deal.

I'm not quite sure I caught the end of Michael's story with Pam's comment about the contracts and the huge sale - did all his time wasting Cosby impersonating that Pam (and I guess Jan) assumed was him doing nothing result in a huge sale, or did the sugar crash result in him not signing the documents and pretty much wasting his day? I recall him taking the contract with him on the way out, so I assume he redeemed himself.

I think that the point was that although Michael wastes a ton of time, he gets the job done quite a bit. They showed that in the Tim Meadows episode last season too.

What's weird about that? Maybe I'm missing something.

I kind of like that Michael's this huge fuckup, yet he's a great salesman who is always saving their ass

Kind of what I've been thinking since the Tim Meadows episode, and reinforced by the convention episode a few weeks back.

Nah, Josh is getting looked at as well. Michael will have the better numbers and Josh's branch will get absorbed by Michael's. That will probably be the finale this year.

Should we be reading into Jan's keeping track of Michaels progress as a sign that things could be getting rough for Mikey sometime down the road?

We'll hear threats, soon, but all of this stuff with Jan on his ass lately is obviously still her just holding a grudge, even if she knows it or not.

The Nov. 9 episode is titled "Branch Closing"

I loved this throw-away Dwight line:

"Where are all the animals?"
