MLK's dream was always to have a black Presidential Nominee being beaten by a white woman and for certain dumb idiots calling him not black enough. Always one positive and about 35 negatives.

It really scares me to think Martin Luther King might have been called "not black enough" if he was around today. And I still don't even understand what the hell that even means.

I'm sure somewhere, Jesse Jackson is giving one of his "We must continue to work towards the dream," speeches.

... and I will continue to work both jobs today... one of which is a city-based institute... fucking Indiana...

My girlfriend sounds like when black comedians make fun of white people. But that is her. that is her at work, at home, talking to her mom, on a interview, drunk, telling a joke...anything. Thats her.

If you are black, and you act natural, you are acting black. How you act is how your were raised and your environment. You don't need to add anything else. Thats how you can be "black enough"

When you go out of your way to constantly mentioned playing basketball all the time because the is supposed to connect you with the black vote, then you aren't black enough. Condelleza Rice...she is black. I don't give a fuck about you playing basketball with Charles Barkley you stupid fucker, how are we going to pay for your universal healthcare plan?

I don't give a fuck about how much you like Jazz and R&B. What about national security? Barrack sounds like a white dude trying to sound down. Like how young white guys randomly will start calling me "brother" when talking to me when they haven't said that shit all day.

I think to understand why Barack isn't black enough you need to hear him do a interview on BET or "black" radio. That annoying fucker keeps trying to be "down" and not acting like himself.

Say what you want about Clinton, she doesn't start talking about how she likes Wu Tang when she gets around blacks. She acts like her normal, boring, fence riding self.

Eh...they've both (Hillary and Barack) pulled the "down home Southerner" act in front of black church crowds.

To kind of add to what was said earlier...I think the idea of someone "not acting black enough" is totally stupid. The mentality seems to come from wannabe gangstas who hate anyone who acts like a normal civilized American and tries to be successful by going to school or getting a good job.

When it comes to Obama, I am more concerned that he is not "Democrat" enough, of course, the same goes for Hillary. I mean it is usually during the primaries that is a "race to the left" but it is as if Obama/Clinton are already in the national election with their "race to the middle" It seems all talk of getting out of Iraq anytime soon has left the campaign trail, probably because the corporate media has declared the surge a success and no one is willing to stand up to such brilliant minds as Katie Couric and Sean Hannity.....!?!

Well, you are wrong.

Wannabe gangsters don't care about politics.

The "gangsta" that hates people that go to school is usually looked at like a fucking moron by other gangstas. Gangstas make excuses for why they couldn't go to school, not run down those that do. And all their excuses are usually bullshit because they are lazy fucks that wanted the quick and easy dollar instead of the one you worked for.

The idea of not acting black enough makes sense when you are acting like you have to act like a black person when you are black in the first place. It comes off as extremely fake.

I don't know if that is what others mean when they say it, but that is definately what I see. Its like if bush went out of his way to act like a white guy from Texas.

I could link the disparate conversational points here together by noting that Texas barely acknowledges MLK day. The kids don't get out of school for it, and I don't think any businesses are closed.

It was like that when I lived in, ugh, Arkansas for a few months.

Even as a kid, it kinda bothered me. That and the fact that I didn't see another black person until I came back home.

What are you talking about? All of the schools here in this area were out yesterday. In fact, the only time I ever recall going to school on MLK day was when it was a bad weather "make up" day.

Happy Confederate Memorial Day to those in Arkansas.

It was King/Lee day when I was growing up in Alabama. they didn't want to take the day off for King, but then they added Robert E. Lee into the day so that made it a real holiday.

Funny times.

Upon further research, turns out you're right. My mom's a public school teacher, and she had to go into work, so I just kinda assumed. It does seem kind of hypocritical to say it's enough of a holiday for the kids to stay home, but not enough of one for the teachers to do the same.

What's the story there? I know even King's family said publicly they felt Ray didn't do it, or was at least working with others. Feels like a JFK type thing though, where the most obvious culprit is the answer, but no one wants to believe it because it's too simple.
