Robert Smith (The Cure)

Jeff Buckley

Ian McKaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi)

KRS-One

Layne Staley

Devin Townsend

Guns N' Roses

Ice Cube

Spice 1

uh, I'll think of more later...

I never knew you were a fan of Heavy Devy...

Indeed I am sir! Though I prefer his SYL work to any of his other projects.

Same with Mike Patton...I like his Faith No More stuff, but not too high on anything else I've heard.

We're all dumbasses.

Put David Bowie at my number 2 and bump everyone else down a space.

Some of Townsend's other material is pretty bad, but I do enjoy his clean singing on Devin Townsend Band releases. Mike Patton's EP with Dillinger Escape Plan is solid; it's worth listening to just for the cover of Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy".

Brian Eno, too.

See, as much as I like what Eno's done with King Crimson, Talking Heads, and David Bowie, I've never really caught a spark to explore his solo material. I think I started at the absolute wrong place with Music for Airports.. I can't place him in my favorites. Fripp I can't really remove far from King Crimson, and the other members are as important as he, despite the fact that he's the only common thread. Really, it's just that Fripp's solo material doesn't totally blow my mind.

1a. Motley Crue

1b. Guns N Roses

1c. Motorhead

^Likely my three favorite overall groups.

I obviously agree with people like Bowie, Prince and Miles. In such a group, I'd add:

JG Thirlwell

Dan the Automator

My personal, sentimental favorites (while some of these do objectively suck, I am by no means implying that all of them do):

1. GG Allin

2. Britney

3. Mindless Self Indulgence

4. Marilyn Manson

5. Aphex Twin

6. Eazy E

7. Diamanda Galas

8. Electric Wizard

9. LiveFastDie

10. Dethklok

I like Xtina a lot too, but I couldn't find a place for her. Her image is fluctuating, and not a clear downward spiral like Britney, but musically she's never faltered. Amy Winehouse brings the persona to my divas, Xtina brings the talent. Britney is just everything at once, so that's why she's on there and they aren't.

And stuff.

I'll avoid Miles, Beatles' member, Prince, Bowie and the like though they are favorites:

3. Toby Driver (Kayo Dot)

4. Jaki Liebezeit (Can)

5. Diamanda Galas

6. Wes Montgomery

7. Tim Buckley

8. Bill Frisel

9. Ben Monder

10. Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth)

Great List. Good to see Schuldiner and Patton get a mention. Schuldiner was a fantastic gutiarist and often more expressive than given credit for.
